However, after Kim’s comments were reported, Nexon officials were busy on the phones denying speculation that they are about to become employees of Walt Disney.

``No, it is not true,’’ said a Nexon spokesman, who claimed that Kim’s words were taken out of context in the interview.

The Nexon official revealed that the company has been negotiating with Walt Disney over potential business projects, such as releasing animation based on the characters of its popular games such as Maple Story, which has a strong following in the U.S. However, the talks have never been about selling company shares, he said.

An official at Walt Disney Korea declined to confirm whether the company is interested in Nexon or any other domestic online game provider. However, he said Walt Disney is committed to increasing its game-related revenue here, although there are no significant business projects to comment on as of yet.

On the topic of Disney taking over nexon (I believe I first saw this on SW), I wouldnt put it past them to create something interesting/neat. Some Disney themed places could be fun xD

More importantly, hopefully Disney is better at customer service than Nexon.

Why does this decision (If it's indeed true) make me want to get a new hobby? And why do I also have this feeling that this co-operation with Disney will make it fail even harder than how EA has failed recently? (You know, the over-stretching of the Madden and Sims franchises, and how the DRM in Spore pissed a LOT of people off.)

Why would you assume that Disney would buy a successful game and then turn it into Disneyland? It's already successful (financially, anyway) so why change what's already working? I'd think it more likely that they'd buy the game in order to profit from making tie-in products. Mushmom plushies, anyone? Maplestory cartoon show? (Yeah, I know there's an anime, but it's not the same thing.)

If they did buy Nexon or MapleStory, I bet the customer service would improve.

As far as Club Penguin, they did a joint thing with it. They didn't create it. *Yes, I have a penguin that I collect stuff on, shut it <_< *
