T-minus 6 Days Till Impact
I actually predict a decent patch this time, because Nexon has done something different: They had a tespia plus two weeks to fix glitches with. How soon after the alien event ended did we have the patch, like, that same week? They have all of BB part 1 ready for release, except for bugs; that means most of what their (likely small) programming team has done since tespia is fix bugs. They have a record of crappy patches, but none where they had a decent tespia plus time to fix bugs.

Like I said in one of the other threads... as long as the game's playable I'm fine. I'm going to take this opportunity to get a good play-through all the classes I quit early as well as finish my main at last.

Ah, that seems nice. I'm glad sooner than later.

I kind of like how all of the release date theory threads went in all sorts of directions and circles, until it became that originally guessed day of December 7, haha.

Wasn't one of the first theories(after finding out it was December and not oct/noc) that BB was coming out on the 6th? Pretty close if you ask me.

Yup.

SwordStaker Wrote:No offense and I really mean NO offense. Everytime I see you post about NEXON it's always "windows 7 this windows 7 that remake the game this remake the game that, bugs bugs bugs bugs bugs I hate that bug!" Seriously Jamie just give it a rest girl =\ I mean calm down. Sure its bad but don't make every post when a server check/ patch comes out about only how many bugs you predict and how messed up the win 7 problem will be. Just let it be what it'll be and in time it'll all straighten out.

Because here's the biggest issues SwordStalker, nobody wants to admit to:
  • There are enough players who no longer have computers capable of running Windows XP, or even the the means of acquiring a copy to make the Windows Vista/7 argument over proper compatibility valid. In turn, if the game doesn't work for a large enough number of people who can't play it, and the game isn't compatible or compliant with modern operating systems, the game has no future.
  • Bugs always make or break a game. Currently, there are are many high levelers who can not, at all, go on boss hunts, party quests, expeditions, etc. due to the various glitches and bugs that cause the game to crash. However, following behind them from lower levels are people who also can't do the same when they get to these levels.
  • MapleStory's Vista/7 issue was ignored for at least now 5 years total even though the user base was talking about it all the time. It wasn't until after Nexon swapped out GameGuard for HackShield the problems got worse for people with newer systems. Compatibility Mode did in fact work when we had GameGuard. This latest attempt and some minor compatibility actually has broken the game more for people. I d/c now even from switching characters, changing channels, going in/out of the CS/MTS, summoning an multi-form/body boss, etc.
  • Big Bang is not going to be a fix. It's going to fix the fact people can level up, balance skills more, and revive some fun, but underlying that is playability by people of various operating systems that have limited playability due to these bugs and glitches which seemingly never get fixed.

People say I write walls of text and rant on about stuff, but geez... look at what I'm hinting at and read everything I've posted before you put the shotgun to my head and pull the trigger. MapleStory IS BROKEN as far as compatibility is concerned and unless these issues are addressed properly, nothing will get fixed and problems will compound to a point that nobody will be able to play regardless of what hardware combination they use, what OS they install, or what kind of PC they own. We have not seen a true effort by Nexon to repair the game, and from the last few attempts of Tespia, there has been no effort to even fix the majority of the worst bugs prior to release as well as existing bugs.

If I'm wrong then why doesn't MapleStory work perfectly for 100% of the user base 100% of the time without glitches, bugs, etc.?

i doubt you will find ANY game with 100% working for everyone and 100% free of bugs/glitches, butt just wait till we actually get big bang

Don't misunderstand me Jamie I'm no way saying it's bad for you to ramble and stuff. I don't experience issues and I know many who do and many who don't. It needs to be fixed theres absolutly no lying it HAS to be fixed. All I'm trying to say is calm down a little about it XD Yelling at NEXON about it won't get it fixed any sooner.

I already have a contingency plan in case Big Bang ends up being a Big Flop. It's called Dungeon Fighter Online.

Yeah, I'm about to say enough is enough if this next update is more scatterbrained than the last. At least DFO works for the most part for me.

We can only tell when it comes. No sense fighting about how bad it would be now, or getting mad about how bad it'll be when we don't even know yet.

Are there new servers coming with Big Bang? I've been hearing some things.

I don't think we will really know until Fiel gets his hands on the patch files or Nexon gives us a notice saying so.

Wouldn't be too surprising if they did release a new server...though it'd be pretty dumb considering how DEAD the newer ones already are...

They mentioned that they upgraded their servers already.

Edit: OH you mean new servers as in....worlds... I see ^^;;;

If I'm not mistaken, there was some item and quest data in the extraction pointing to the appearance of 3 new Worlds. Namely those hats. Been a while since I checked, so I may be wrong.

5 (El Nido, Nova, Aster, Arcania and Zenith)

There's no telling how many they'll actually release, they could change that.

Those were for events in KMS during the release of BB - we'll most-likely never see those hats.

Why say that? NEXON has released new servers before with other ones dead 0.o. Only time shall tell my friend.
