They did amazing. Few issues, responsive customer service, quick response to problems and fantastic updates that no one ever saw coming.

Eh, I'll admit that they are moving in a better direction, but I can't allow my opinion to rise above apathetic because of that huge hacking incident that happened at the start of the year. If anything, I see their recent improvement as nothing more than atonement for letting so many people lose everything and then offering nothing to the victims.

From his point of view he hasn't had that much problems. Some of you who bickering and have hate didn't even get the full blow of most of the things that happen on maple in the past.

I gave them a four. Mostly because they are trying to go into the right direction.

I feel like the Korean section of the company is going in the right direction and the global version is following along because they have to. I don't want to give them credit for something they didn't actively choose to do.

And don't say "they could have chosen not to release BB!" - they know that we know, there would be riots if they did that.

I haven't had any problems with Nexon ever. Never been wrongfully banned, never had glitches, never had customer services issues (mostly because I never sought customer service). I still think they're doing poorly and are just translating (poorly) Korean content.

Let's see, I upgraded from an OS released in 2001 to one that was released in Oct. 2009 (over a year ago) and it's still unsupported so I get random glitches.

For most of the year I was plagued with "every 15 seconds lag" which made jump quests more difficult, and Nexon America can't fix it cause they don't actually employ any programmers.

My guild invited me to do HT in late summer, but hasn't been able to organize any runs due to DC hackers.

Their customer service is... fairly slow, by any measure. And most of the time, the response you get is unhelpful and even unrelated to the question.

I never was the richest player but i was hit by the epidemic. At the time everyone was talking about how random people were getting hacked. not losing everything but only the 'hot items were taken'. I assumed it was just a really well done phishing scam + pin bypass. No matter to me, i was going to take a break from MS soon anyway so i won't even be near any MS sites. Few weeks later, my cousin tells me he got hacked, same pattern: only the good items taken, everything else was fine even his mesos. I just assumed he fell for it too. I officially stopped logging in but not before changing my PW anyway.

Fast forward a few months, i log on to SW forums one day and come across a thread where EoS notices his character had been tampered with; at this point i was sincerely concerned. i bother to DL the game on to my new laptop to check on things and make a super secure PW, better than the one i set before i quit...and sure enough i was too late, my elestaff and good int gear is good as gone. as well as my ranger's gear. The Elemental wand got to me in particular because me and two friends all put money together to get me it and it the 1st piece of 'awesome' gear i ever got in the game. I was irritated, making my break from the game far more extended. until news of Big bang came around.

I kept an eye on things via forums and friends: decent content one month, dupe glitch the next, remote hack strikes again, decent content, dual blade? Nope Meso exploit causes a rollback and delays dual blade. Dual blade! Whoops a dupe glitch caused by hellbanning. Hey cool, hackers causing nightly rollbacks in certain servers, thats nice. Oh look ANOTHER meso exploit with a rollback, least the compensation was decent this time. And of course, a bad idea of a black friday to close things out. Regaining confidence to play again hasn't been easy, yet truthfully

Truthfully, potential system and big bang are why i voted a 3 instead of a 1, its really me being pretty freaking optimistic and liking how i can pull off going low-stat somewhat decently without having to grind hard for meso; definitely made the game better for me. As well as some of the new content. 12 dex hat is nice and helps players get on their feet.

As for others; Some people may have had friends that made the game great for them quit because of some issue involving nexon somehow; they'd have a right to be influenced by that in my book.

I voted 1 just because the greediness and generally terrible business practices that frequent NA's lineup are just as awful and prevalent as ever. The removal of perma NX also strikes me as a pretty bad move.

What do you know, the Vindictus crew are fixing typos. I never ever ever ever saw that happen in Maplestory.

DC hacks still haven't been fixed nor have they expressed any knowledge of the magnitude of the problem. they are either incapable or don't care enough to thwart kiddies who hack maplestory.

there was a 16 second lag for a majority of the year that was never really fixed. it took them MONTHS to attempt to fix something that should have been fixed in a few days.

they allowed meso exploits to not only happen once but TWICE, both times resulting in multiple roll backs. a company the size of nexon should never allow a problem like that to go on for more than a few hours, let alone weeks.

the compatibility issues with vista / windows 7. it is absolutely unacceptable that maplestory doesn't work properly on either operating system YEARS after they have been released. their response that the new operating systems suck is not acceptable in the slightest, microsoft doesn't code their operating system to work with maplestory, that's nexons job.


other than those glaring problems, they did release a lot of new content etc. still, all of those problems make for a pomegranate game run by a pomegranate company.

oh, and that black friday sale. i didn't charge nx or even log on but the whole 10 cubes thing is laughable. nexon knew EXACTLY what they were doing. they know how many cubes they sell and they know the demand. they did that on purpose and i'm glad to see this made a lot of people realize how messed up the company that runs their game really is.
