Big bang 3rd of december? Does this screenshot seem legit?

Herborist Wrote:Why would they have two server related events in two consecutive weeks? Why not just do what they're doing now during the patch?

And why would they have one super long patch + maintenance and have the community get pissed off at a 24 hour patch instead of spacing out the maintenance and putting it at a time when a majority of the community will not be playing anyways?

This is what i was thinking, so please oblige me to how I am so ignorant Herborist.

Preparing the servers before the patch is a reasonable thing for them to do. Having a big maintenance patch this week in no way dis-includes the possibility of a patch next week. We had a big maintenance last week IIRC, too. They're just prep patches to take the load off before the big one. They already specifically stated they wouldn't be following the same schedule as usual, two months ago. This would be inclusive in that.

Do you honestly think that it won't be a 24 hour patch? The big bang patch is going to be long, and it'll involve many of the same duties that a server maintenance entails. Otherwise, they wouldn't take the time to make special notes every now and then that tell us that we won't be named changed or world shifted during a certain patch.

To you, a maintenance might as well be a patch - don't think that a maintenance doesn't add things to our data. They just don't publicize it as well.

Your syntax hurts my eyes.

The maintenance doesn't preclude the patch, but it doesn't help its chances either. From a logistics stand point, having a maintenance, then a patch the next week is a massive waste of time. But then again, this is Nexon...

To add things to OUR data, there must be a patch.

Yeah... no. But thanks for playing! (not really)

I'm glad we don't have people like you running MapleStory.

You're actually wrong by the way. Sever Maintenances don't add or change any data in our .wz files. They can however change cs items, and probably server code too.

Obviously BB is going to be a long patch, but you just proved my point. Why would you throw a 9 hour maintenance on top of a long patch and piss off your players even more when you could get it out of the way early and seperate them?

So your logic is that it's better to seperate things and disrupt players twice, than to disrupt them once during off hours?

I'd respond to the rest of you, but it's mostly random insults and ignorant arguing.

Maybe you shouldn't dish out the insults if you can't take their responses to your ignorance.

Maybe you should stop making faulty if-then clauses in attempts to insult someone.

So by your logic it's better to not perform a routine server maintenance one week (Pft servers, who gives a damn about them anyways mirite?) and combine it with an 8 hour(estimated) patch for 17 hours of downtime on the day of a highly anticipated patch which also includes a time sensitive quest?

You don't have to call someone ignorant because they have a different opinion. Contrary to your belief, you are not always right. I know it's hard to take in, just take a deep breath and exhale.

Yes, from a financial stand point, it is better. And don't make it sound like delaying the patch will cause gravity to stop working. Your time sensitive event won't mind a few hours here or there; you'll still have your 17 days or however long to complete it.

Hey, buddy, I get it - you're all sorts of self-righteous up on that high horse. "I'm glad you don't run maplestory teehee!" Doesn't mean I'm going to give up just because you act superior. Try having a legitimate argument instead of a drawn farce filled with sarcasm and insults?

(I'm going to predict his next response: LOL THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE DOING!! LOL~)

I like how you go to the extreme even though I have no memory of any previous contact with you. But don't let logic get in the way of your ad hominems.

Disrupting the minority (those who play early morning in the US) twice is better than disrupting the majority once from a business standpoint.

Maybe you guys should stop posting insults and start PMing them. They don't contribute in any way to this discussion.

Why? Because you say so and offer no actual support/reasoning?

Herborist Wrote:And don't make it sound like delaying the patch will cause gravity to stop working.

Because that is exactly what I did. No really.

People will absolutely love a 7 hour window to begin getting the best ring available.

Self-righteous? All i'm saying is that i'm glad that someone like you, who doesn't even have a clue as to what a server maintenance is, is not in charge of running the game. The day you run 7 games successfully simultaneously is the day i'll take your 'tips' to running the game more effective seriously.

hey gaise i have no legitimate argumentz so i gunna try 2 predic what u say lulz!! thatL sho u

I wasn't saying because they don't use them doesn't mean it won't be here. They could release the patch any time this month and still not use them. Again just because they used the "coming in December" does not mean they will use the rest. They might just change it on patch day to "Big Bang Has Arrived"
