Do you really think he raped someone? I don't. I think it's all set up by CIA, so they can catch the guy who's about to publish all the crimes of US government. And other countries as well, of course.
US is not any better than China really, everything is done behind the backs of other countries and civilians. Props to Julian Assange and wikileaks. Maybe we can some day get these criminals in US goverment to where they should be, jail.
Glad to see what those files about Finland are as well. Though it's nothing new. I have read those claims about Finland. "most uncorrupted government". That's pineapplesoup. Shall we look at WWII for example... Allies with Nazis, spys and suspicious USSR connections.

I agree i do not think he raped or assaulted any one. i think he has a hard job and i think that wikilinks has a fantastic ideals.
I like things to be free but i believe that if documents that are released will put others in harms way then they should have a hard think about it.

I only got a bit of it off the news, so far nothing that should've stayed behind screen. Except maybe that the Middle-east wanted the USA to attack Iran, Iran's not gonna like their neighbours now.
And I agree, it's good that those documents became public.

I think pomegranate is gonna be akward for a while, its really about time actually. I would rather see domestic stuff get leaked rather than international. We need some reform right here at home in congress and the house.

And I agree, it's good that those documents became public. That's cause wikileaks actually keeps eye on what they publish and what not. I don't know if they will publish something bigger later.

I was reading about this and I don't seem to fully grasp it. What is this WikiLeaks thing? I know http://wikileaks.org is the address and whatnot, but what's the big fuss?

It's a collaboration of private government documents that were stolen and are regarded as "leaked" when that is not the case. All the material is the property of the United States government until released.

Aw, Kurtle's butthurt.
If the government can suck at my privacy under the concept of "if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to worry about", then WikiLeaks can keep sucking at the government.

Would that include the material that contains the credit card numbers of UN members and staff?

arrested for sex crimes? I heard on the news this morning that they want to have this guy executed. It's pretty damn obvious that the "sex crimes" are just a cover up to give them a reason to arrest this guy.

In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

NOOO
Why did he do this. Why did he turn himself to those terrorists. God dammit, those ****ing commies at US government are gonna chop his head off >_> Truth is a crime in a empire of lies. Free Assange FCKING now, or I will boycott EVERYTHING from United States, until justice happens.
I agree with above post, if he is killed, I'm gonna go to US myself and revenge for people behind all this.

Every country has their secrets. If the US has all of their secrets released, it's the US at risk. Nobody is going to trust a country like that. Who's going to support us when they see hidden motives for the war? Who's going to want to help a country in war if the information on said war they're keeping secret for strategical purposes are released? Who do you think will get angry at the US when information about foreign countries get released simply because the US has a leak somewhere? Do you think there aren't groups in Iran and such keeping track of this info to see how they can use this to their advantage?
For what purpose? Because we "have a right to know"? To satisfy our curiosity? So that people that have performed crimes hidden from the public get punishment? You'd risk the safety of the nation for such trivial purposes?
Of course, I only skimmed through what Wikilinks is, with all the commotion that's appeared because of them lately. I skimmed one of the mirrors and such. While it's true the current information released doesn't seem too detrimental, that's not to say there won't be stuff that should really be kept a secret released to the public.
Honestly, it'd be nice to think that these leaks will solve all of the problems the US is facing. Take a jab at corruption, YEAH! Possibly end the war, YEAH! But in the end, I only foresee a more unstable US if leaks continue. I'm fine knowing the government has secrets, and realize they can't exactly tell us everything. There are reasons for this.
Maybe it's just me. It's not that I like being lied to by the government, I just know that there are reasons for some lies, and some of those reasons are actually beneficial to us as a nation.
I will say that the person behind this does really have a lot of balls though.

I will say that the person behind this does really have a lot of balls though. If country has done nothing criminal or illegal, it wouldn't care about it's secrets running out. But if United States has done something that would "danger lives", then US really deserves to face all possible consequences, even if it is war. Even americans would want to know who REALLY killed Kennedy and the real story about 9/11.
Obviously US has skeletons in the closet, otherwise they would be like other countries and not really give a pineapple about Wikileaks.
I suggest you all to watch season 8 of 24, thats fiction, but the story unfortunately may not be far from the truth.

In my opinion.... if you're going to kill thousands of people for a war, you better damn well let the rest of the country know what the hell they're fighting for. There shouldn't be ANY SECRETS if people are putting their lives on the line.
i want to know what the fk I'm doing for don't you?

About the rape case. There are different laws in Sweden regarding 'rape.' Assange and the girl/girls had consensual sex, however he did not wear a condom. The charges were soon dropped by the women, within the same day I believe. Now, weeks/months later, the court itself brought up the charges, just as a reason to smear his name so people think he's some evil fellow. Since the charges were brought up, his lawyer has constantly requested a meeting with the court, but they would not reply.
