Global MapleStory Tespia: Now Closed (Big Bang inside)
From a pure touch damage perspective, Achilles is pretty bad.

Maple does have a variety of attack formats, though.

SkillPhysical TouchPhysical RangedMagic RangedSpells"MISS"
Achilles15%15%15%0%?0%
Guardian0%0%0%30%40%
Power Guard50%0%0%0%0%
Wdef20%20%0%0%0%
Shield mastery20%20%8%0%0%
Divine Shield0%0%0%0%20-40%

I'm not actually sure if Achilles works vs. poison. Guardian has a nice 30% chance of blocking spells and reduces poison damage, so I threw it in. Some attacks are unavoidable meaning the last column is void - others can be affected by it, so that gets added onto the individual column.

Final fun number thing:
2100 mesos = 40% hp potion = 7632 hp = 87700 damage taken from PB (or, the 1 touch damage that gets through defenses)
So each pot lasts about 7.6 seconds when hugging PB - in an hour that's 472 Ginsengs.
So a full PB fight should be under 1 mil mesos in hp pots...

Nice work. Your account of w.def and sheild mastery being seperate confuse me though. And out of curiosity what is your total str and w.def in gms if you don't mind sharing? Oh and if you aren't so worried about your dps to use restoration, the pot usage becomes even more laughable.

I just subtracted the base wdef contribution from the total reduction (with Shield Mastery) to get the amount Shield Mastery adds.

Currently I have 1080 str and about 500-550 wdef in GMS with a 2h weapon. I haven't actually got a potential'd 1h+shield yet so I'm just making an approximation of what my def will be (putting it at 2000)

Didn't we already decide December 7th was the release date due to the ring event ending 23rd? Where did you guys get Dec 1st from?

Like I said in another thread, a lot of people are speculating the 1st simply because that's the date after when Nexon has declared that some of the events will end (the 30st).

I think you underestimated your defense then. A very low estimate puts your def at 5k post bb. sheild mastery is an addative increase. it doubles your total defense at 10 and triples it at 20. you have a 1.2k+ base def from str alone. so upwards of 1.7k+ before shield mastery.

Unless you went so far as to include the level difference handicap. hohoho. So i'll just put my preemptive scratch that, i suck cocks right here for when someone needs it.

EDIT: I just noticed something from your large post.

If guardian can proc while blessing armor is active without taking a "charge", it ups it's value as far as damage reduction goes. It would also increase blessing armor's potential duration significantly. It also has some damage reduction passives which i don't think you included, but they would be small anyway. If it works over blessing armor, it's just a flat damage reduction by percent over whilst hugging.

I'll have 1863 with my 2h weapon (2063 with Iron Body) but I don't yet know which shield I'll be using so I can't pin down 1h def exactly.

I guessed 2000 base + 200 Iron Body for 6600 total with Shield Mastery for those %s.

any change on v3?

what about your guardian+blessing armor numbers, or did i just ninja you with my stealth edit?

I don't believe Guardian can proc while Divine Shield is active, it's not something I tested thoroughly though.

And the other defensive aspects of Guardian don't seem to have an impact on touch damage, so I skipped them. Too many defensive skill questions makes it hard to figure out exactly what's going on with Divine Shield being permanently on. It's pretty well worth the 10 SP though, probably after ACB.

Not sure about poison, but FWIW I've observed Achilles to work against Snowman's ice cloud.
Achilles' one winning attribute, and the reason I spent 30 SP on it, is its effectiveness against 1/1.
I died too many times at Zakum when a summon bumped me after 1/1 and before pot (pot lag ftl).
It may be coincidence, but I haven't died at Zakum since I got Achilles. Had a wheel expire on me today...

Oops, I did actually test those - Achilles and Guardian's percent are added for poison/ice clouds (so 6.5% achilles + 13% guardian, when both are lv.13) making Snowman's poison do almost 20% less. Maxed, you'd get 16% + 32% for a 48% reduction to all poison effects.

I reported Duey on the 17th, as I clicked him immediately upon arriving in Lith, crashed the game, tried again, crashed again. Fun times.

The entire 3rd (?) row of hotkeys is off by one, F is on the end so it does something bad I guess.

With the way CO works, I'll be putting a point in Achilles and all that stuff, but I'd need to level up a little before I thought it was a good idea to max it out. Though perhaps if they're actually fixing the Win 7 client, I'll be doing more bossing on my Paladin and it'll be worth it.

oh it easily takes that spot in any reasonable skill build.

No, it's to keep their database from being clogged with known issues.

Those are the only three that get repeated enough to annoy them, I guess. Once the chat lag got fixed, anyway.

I did send in about 5 bug repots on the keyboard settings, before I even spoke to Heena... But I never clicked on Duey and I was forewarned about the boats.

Wish they had a way for us to search it before we enter a (possibly redundant) bug report.

Must be a hell of a job to sift through all the reports and try to merge duplicates. (And that's after discarding the meaningless drivel which I'm sure they're getting a fair bit of, as well).

My spidey senses tell me avoiding this was somehow a part of their mysterious selection process.

Funny thing is, I've actually worked as a QA tester and there is always a bug database available and dupes are heavily frowned upon.

Has the 4th job silver mane quest changed with this? Longer/faster to complete or anything?

It's Nexon. Maybe they're operating on the "squeaky wheel" methodology. The number of dupes actually determines the priority of the bug.
If 1000 people complain about d/c on boats, that needs fixing.
If just one person notices Orbis Tower simple-mode mini-maps are glitched, just leave that be.
