Good movie, but it really wasn't very exciting. I always try my best to not watch the entire moving looking for what was changed, removed or trimmed, but this one just really made it too hard. It felt, I dunno how to describe it...stale? While the first half of the novel is certainly not as exciting as the second, it still felt much, much more enjoyable while reading it. Too little explanation, too little sense of anything else in the movie! While reading it, I felt this overwhelming sense of dread around them--the deaths all around, the horrible state of Hogwarts, etc etc... It didn't feel like it was there in the movie. A sense of sorrow for sure, but you didn't really know WHY (besides oh hey, Voldemort is in power so things must be bad). Movie adaptations are always going to suffer, and this one is certainly staying more "true" to the story than some of the others, but my goodness we REALLY need that Part 2 to redeem and complete this movie!

That aside, I went in absolutely terrified they were going to take out one of my favorite lines and butcher the scene, but I was wrong. So wrong. It was AWESOME. The Horcrux locket destruction scene. It was actually even better than expected, AND they left my favorite line in! Least loved, always... That made it all worth it. On the other hand, I was quite disappointed how they changed the Malfoy Manor scene at the end (especially concerning Pettigrew).

I dunno I enjoyed it. haha Can't be too picky. It was dark and great build-up for the second part (which is going to be the awesome one, no doubt).

I think most of my hate for the way the movie is not intriguing is because of the ruthless slaughter of the ending of the 6th movie in relation to the book. They certainly could have made the Malfoy Manor scene more akin to the novel and actually have some excitement in the midst of nothingness.

instead of casting spells at a short distance, wouldn't it be easier to snipe off the death eaters

Just got back from watching it. Talk about a letdown. The movie also felt stilted between the characters wandering through the wilderness and finding nothing... I really couldn't blame the movie for it, though, because that's exactly how it was in the book. It's just reading the book made those dull and dreary parts so much more interesting because during these times they were doing research.

Some scenes just didn't seem to fit in with the movie - like wtp was up with the dancing scene. It just seemed totally out of place and didn't fit. I also miss a lot of the opening broomstick scene - there's so much more detail in the book, but considering the length of the movie and that action sequences don't add much to plot, I can see why they left it out.

If I knew four hours ago what I know now, I would have told myself to wait until both parts are released on blue ray, then watch it.

I think that change was made more for filming limitations. A car chase in the sky is kind of awkward to make on film, and a tad hard to follow for the watcher. Hell, that scene where they were getting chased by Snatchers was hard to follow.

I raged at all the inaccuracies. There were no peacocks in Lucius' yard. Yaxley wasn't with Snape at the beginning. They completely cut out Ted and Nymphadora. The sky chase was completely changed, it would've owned to see Stan Shunpike and the disarming giving him away. Hedwig giving him away was... sort of weird, I dunno. Lupin was reduced to a minor character. They didn't disguise Harry at the wedding. They never said "Voldemort" after Apparating to the coffee shop, so Dolohov and Rowle shouldn't have been able to find them. Harry was supposed to find Regulus' room. Kreacher was supposed to be given the locket, after which point he started respecting Harry. Harry didn't take and "bury" Moody's eye. I'm pretty sure the sword was buried in a pool on the other side of a cliff, but I'm not sure on that. Harry never cast Protego to break up Ron and Hermione (I could care less, though). What was that dancing scene about? The destruction of the locket was... interesting. The part where the whole "snatchers" thing happened was inaccurate, since the snatchers only found them after they broke their protection after saying "Voldemort". Wormtail was supposed to strange himself because of the magical debt he owed Harry, they weren't supposed to stun him. The Hermione torture scene was also... interesting. The scene where Bellatrix killed Dobby owned. I went to see it with 15 other people, we were in a theatre. At least three of us said "COMMANDO PRO"

The Malfoy mansion scenes were kinda taken away from canon. At the torture scene it looked like Bellatrix was biting into Hermionie's arm... Hopefully there will be a few more incorporation of the key details from the book. I knew there were some pieces that were missing...

Inaccuracies? While some of what you listed count as those, a lot of what you said also counts as things they just plain left out. And why? Because of the reason you stated at the begining of your post: filming limitations.

I shouldn't have to reiterate to all of you educated critics that films are often worse than the novels they're based on, with a majority of this due to such "inaccuracies" or "exclusions," but when many of you begin mentioning such utterly minute details such as the existence or absence of peacocks in a setting, it needs to be said. Did you know one of the strongest negative criticisms for this film is the fact that, had you not read the novel beforehand (or for that matter, the preceding one or two novels as well), you would have absolutely no idea what's going on. I'm not saying more major symbolic gestures should have been ignored, and there are certainly some scenes here or there in all novel to film translations that could have used more inspiration from the book. But raging over the inclusion of random animals in a certain scene where the existence or absence of such animals has absolutely no bearing on the plot whatsover? That's a bit ridiculous.
