Also, to stay on topic, I will never once try nor even look twice at anything related to maplestory. For fears of what is to come.

2.5D is the only way to go. If they go full 3d, I'm done.

To me, the use of "MapleStory" in their 3D mmorpg mainly serves as a tool to advertise, after their success story of MapleStory 2D.

Punch Monster looks like it shares the game play of Dungeon Fighter. It so, that'd be a fun game to try.

gstar 2010 is over tomorrow and the only news for nexon was that new 3d mmo 3 kingdoms or something and the fact that nexon basically won every award at the award show with vindictus.

I'm sure if a maplestory 2 trailer were to be revealed then it would be during a major gaming event such as gstar, or probably leaked a month or 2 beforehand. As for now maplestory 2's game development is being done quietly.

So for now discussing maplestory 2 is pointless unless your planning to keep discussing something that is atleast 1 year away if not more, if that is the objective then go right ahead.

Idk where everyone of you got "MapleStory 2" from... Isn't that old rumor as hell? In the interview back in time they were talking about Big Bang as MapleStory 2, in my opinion. Big Bang is MapleStory 2 to me... why would they suddenly come up with another huge update or new game?

MapleStory 2 was also that patch of SEA, being nothing special, but a bit more content in it.

Yea as far as I know this is it. There was rumors about MS 2 when they first released info on a game called Kavatina Story. So far it has all been pretty much baseless claims, rumors and a few trolling lies like that MS look-a-like Punch monster game some punk claimed to be MS 2.
Also, if they were serious about making MS 2, why would they put so much effort into MS vanilla? Kind of daft to make a sequel when the first game still lives and flourish. Sequels might fail hard like the first version of RO2 did. Why risk it when they can just modify the hit game they have. If they simply do not upgrade MS into MS2 I doubt we will see a sequel until the current game starts to decline for real.

In an interview during gstar 2009 nexon acknowledged that they have a team that had been developing maplestory 2 for the past year, and that maplestory 2 will be developed secretly for now. by doing so .... the maplestory 2 hype wagon has been filling up.

This was posted a few days before gstar 2010 which could have seen the trailer for the, now 2 years in development maplestory 2. but no such thing was seen and therefore this board should be dead till this time next year where someone else will mention maplestory 2.

Oh God, I would hate this. Side scrollers with depth aren't all that fun to me.

Although that PunchMonster game looks like a ripoff, it looks nice.
Also, a proof it`s a ripoff not only in graphics? Pay attention to the song for the Mine at 2:00, and open up the second half of Dead Mine song. It`s EXACLTY equal. Lol

In 2010, there will be major updates. For instance, in winter, MapleStory will release a new class + another major update. And the next summer, they are thinking whether they should release a new class or update current ones.

Not only that but on another interview they also said

MapleStory 2 is undergoing smooth development as well, and is scheduled to debut next year.

Thank you, just wanted to see where you guys are getting there from. It still sounds funny that they are planning on "MapleStory 2" when we just got Big Bang :/. Who will play normal ms after this MS2 comes out?

Not it's not. Listen closely, there are different beats and the tempo is different.
Watch the vid until the kid falls on the octopus, you'll hear the SAME death effect as in MS. Now that belongs to Nexon.

Also watch 0:44. It's an exact copy of the black magician from various images.

Big Bang 1024 mode looks like it is Maplestory 2...

Anything beyond pure 2D would make Maplestory "just one of those free MMORPG's" out there. Pure 2D = unique, 2.5D = already non-unique anymore... (like Punchmonster, etc)

The only thing Maplestory could use is Widescreen support. They have XGA-mode 1024x768 now (4:3), just make it WXGA-mode (1280x768)... It shouldn't be -that- hard to do...Even the zooming part is the same, since it uses the same height (768 pixels).

To be yet another one to add fuel to the fire, Some of the other sound effects i've seen in other videos are DEFINITELY from Grand Chase. Like the fanfare that plays when you successfully upgrade a necklace in GC.
