Quick question on SP resets
#1
I didn't make my KMS account until after Big Bang, and I'm a bit confused on exactly what happens to your SP when you log into your character after BB.

My understanding is that in KMS, there was an event to receive a free SP reset scroll that would reset all your SP back to 0. Great, but what if you don't take advantage of this event? Is all your SP reset to begin with, and the scroll is just a free re-spec in case you mess up, or is the SP from all removed and restructured skills automatically pulled out, or what?

When the patch is over and you log in, you will have <your level> * 3 + extra SP worth of SP and all skills will be at 0. It'll be an automatic reset. At least, this is how it happened in KMST. Also, SP scrolls were just tacked in incase you screw up or something, I guess.

Cool, that's what I originally thought and wanted to hear.

Do you have to repass skill books for 4th job? And what happens to skills for jobs such as Evan that had to be obtained? Do they remain, but just reset?

You keep the skill level, you don't have to use books again.

Same question, but for GMST, specifically for accounts with copied characters (preexistent).

That might be KMST, but not KMS. In KMST they showed an SP reset scroll that you had to use in order to perform the reset.

In kMS, when you logged on after the Big Bang patch, you had a scroll in your inventory which reset all your skills.

There were a couple more events where you could "win" another, but it is believed for no more events like this in kMS.

Would you be able to provide how AP worked as well? Did they reset it to default then you applied the AP as well as given AP reset scrolls in case you messed up? If scrolls were given how many?

But wait, what about SP from skills that had masteries lowered? Did you get the SP back automatically from that?

I'd assume the SP reset looks something like
- remove all SP from job skills
- award 3 * min(20,level-10) + 1 1st job SP (if you've gained 1st job)
- award 3 * min(40,level-30) + 1 2nd job SP (if you've gained 2nd job)
- award 3 * min(50,level-70) + 1 3rd job SP (if you've gained 3rd job)
- award 3 * min(80,level-120) + 3 4th job SP (if you've gained 4th job)
With appropriate cutoffs based on the character level giving you the exact number of SP you should have. And of course it'd work a little different for Evan and DBs since they could buy SP in the cash shop.

Why not

Code:
for all skillID do
add the SP in the skill to the appropriate pool
  set skill SP to 0

This would make sure that if you have X points today, regardless of whether you got them from level-up, questing, or cash shop, you will still have X points after the reset. No need to do any special processing.

This needs to skip the skills that come pre-levelled or level themselves regardless of SP (like Monster Rider or BoF). I'd just skip resetting the entire beginner skill tab, I'm sure nobody is going to complain that they were not able to reset Recovery into Nimble Feet or vice versa.

Actually once you logged in, your skills would be the same unless a skill was changed/removed, then you would be refunded that SP.

That is what GMST does.
