Driven into the darkness and understood by no one, the poor Black Mage lost faith in humanity each day while Grendel got his way around with young, innocent Magician girls, sometimes boys, who unknowingly came to him for guidance on their travel.

This would be a lot more entertaining if there was faction that actually supported this cause, nothing says good plotline like the typical black and grey morality settings. It's just ''Hey kids, the black mage is the baddie, you don't want his rule, get nx and fight his minions!''. I just feel it'd be more interesting if they made classes that would portray the black mages logic a little more sympathetically storyline-wise. Of course, this would also mean piling even more classes on the amount that we already have.....

Or enable us to choose factions. I'd align with the evil side in a heartbeat. Do quests to ruin the world instead of helping Mrs. Ming Ming host a party where the sick pineapples eat pig heads. Yay! Would still work to beat up bosses too. Horntail the fat arrogant dragon need to know who the master is. Teach him! Zakum got some power, beat him into submission and recruit him! And so on.

The story really is interesting, but I keep thinking that it makes no sense for the Black Mage to give never-seen-before abilities to "the heroes of Maple World", since it would just help them in the fight against him. Explaining those with the return of Black Mage was kind of silly.

The storyline is pretty crappy, it's like horrible mix of Anakin and Voldemort. Seems like comics I made when I was 1st grader, everything ripped off from other series.

And those are in turn not very original. So far I have yet to see a really original mmorpg actually. Games like WoW, which is like mother of ripping, and many others borrow from religion, folklore, myth and the fantasy genre. I think this was at least a nice try to create a mood for BB.

Yeah, keep in mind that it's really difficult to come up with a storyline that hasn't been used a million times in some way or another, especially when they're not even working with their own material. A for effort. It was nicely written even if it was cliched.
