Actually the flashy glowy thing below avatar is so a malicious user can't pretend to be a mod/admin by manipulation of the username & usertitle.
And the reason it iterates through all possible colors is so it shows up on all possible themes we may one day have.

It would make more sense to implement the ability to "preview". It can't be that difficult and it would make the market system much less intimidating, considering users have no idea what their names/titles will look like until after they buy it. If they don't like it, all they can do is refund it and still end up losing some of their money.
