since when is a lunchbox a sword?
#1
I Know that pretty much all the even items are swords, and with this new, seemingly-garbage patch on the way, It makes me wonder: HOW IN THE HELL IS A LUNCH BOX A SWORD?

I mean, screw axemen for a second, or warriors period. I just can't begin to fathom how a Lunchbox IS NOT a Blunt weapon. What's worse? THis thing can be lvl 120 (pineapple how long it takes, there's a reason to get one) not to mention it being one of the only 120+ weapons i've ever seen in the game (ele staves = meh).

I understand that for beginners, a sword is the best choice ( please correct me if i'm wrong here people) but last time i checked, that is a population that wouldn't really benefit from said weapon, and well, the oter classes wouldn't even care (since anyone can equip it).

Basically I am just wondering why a blunt object is referred to as a sword, and why is it better than the red katana? (please move this thread if it should be in the wrong section)

Clearly a Lunchbox is 25% better at stabbing monsters than a Ruin hammer (which even has a pointy stick :f6: )

I think they're just using the default weapon type for event weapons, pumpkin basket and maple flag don't look much like swords either, and I don't know what made them decide that a lifeguard's float is a sword either.

Since when would you consider a lunchbox better than hundreds of actual weapons for attack... Trying to add logic to this is just going to be a waste of time, don't do it.

Also, it's probably a sword so then more than 0.00001% of the population will use it (actually is there eventhat many bw 1h paladins? lol)

Pumpkin basket is the same way. Eh, whatever. Seems wasteful to make it a blunt weapon so few Mace WKs that there are, I guess they figure it'll get more use as a sword.

True enough isaac, I would just like some sort of choice or something. That option seems to be unheard of.

Nexon just really wants more people to use 1h swords. And then they make Maple Shields nigh unattainable for fun.

It should be a mace AND a sword or better yet these common weapons should be in a seperate class altogether

Or you can choose which version you want when you get it.

As the 4 year defending champion of the cafeteria in the area of lunchbox fencing, I find this topic extremely offensive.

well no, because there are no usable 1h BWs over level 70 that have any kind of advantage over 2hBW.

70 Gigantic Sledge: Slow 87 atk
70 The Judgment: Normal 83 atk, 1h
75 The Bent Judgment: Normal 85 atk, 1h
70 Colourful Tube: Fast 85 atk, 1h (good attack, 2 tiers faster than the 2h)
80 Morningstar: Normal, 92 atk, 2h
80 Heaven's Justice: Normal 88 atk, 1h
90 Ruin Hammer: Normal, 93 atk, 1h
100 Battle Hammer: Normal, 98 atk, 1h
100 Yellow Duck Tube: Fast, 90 atk, 1h
110 Dragon Mace: Normal, 103 atk, 1h

The Morningstar I bought for 20mil (115/12) is comparable to a 1h+Shield with a total of 126 w.atk, or a Duck Tube+shield with ~119 atk (in dps). In either case, 20mil doesn't even cover a single shield attack scroll, so attack shields are out. That means scrolling 5x30% or better on a level 100+ weapon to compare with my Morningstar which is level 80 and 4 30%s.

If the duck tube was stronger, or the Battle Hammer/Dragon Mace were faster, then they might be worthwhile.

1h Swords have a use because in comparison to the price of a good Claymore (600m-1bil), the cost of a shield is not as major, and almost every 1h sword is faster than its 2h counterpart (exceptions being Sparta + Stonetooth, Japanese Map/Tiger's Fang + Jeweled Katar @ 50, Lionheart + Cutlus @ 35)

Adding a 109 atk Fast(4) 1h sword makes it 2 speed tiers faster than a Claymore, and 4 atk higher. For BWs it's more like 17 extra atk and 2 tiers, or 2-7 atk and 3 speed tiers...

Maybe if there was some kind of even ground and not just disadvantages to using maces, then there would be more mace users.

People only become a blunt weapon user if they like how they look, or if they want cheap scrolls. If you want to do better damage, you go swords. And you know how nearly everybody wants to do better damage.

And the cheap scroll doesn't even hold as true anymore. How many more blunt weapon users have you seen compared to a year or two ago? I'd say about the same or even less. Most of the bw users I used to look up to have quit/deleted themselves. Yet somehow scrolls prices have inflated to 6 to 10 times what I used to pay. In this same time, 10 attack gloves have only tripled. Sure the general inflation of the economy accounts for some of it. But to me, it seems like there are less of us = less demand. But that's kinda off-topic.

But yeah, there aren't that many pali's around anymore, so there are even less blunt weapon users. But maybe less of us would be quitting and more being created if we had some nice perks.

Stereo: At level 120, we've also got the new Crushed Skull mace. I don't know how that figures into your plan, but it's 115 Att, Normal speed, 1H, and +12 Accuracy. I believe it only comes from the Crimsonwood exchange, and those items don't have randomized stats.

If my Page ever gets high enough to use that, I'll have fun just because of the way it looks! (Although it's a different kind of fun from beating things with a cute ducky tube...)

I excluded the Crushed Skull because I've never seen one ingame (really the Dragon Hammer has the same problem, but at least I know a person who has one on another server)

115 base attack is nice (the 126 attack I mentioned is much more doable) but I can't find one so it doesn't mean much. I'd have to be buying them for around 5mil each for it to be comparable to Morningstars.

tbh the problem with 1h BWs is the tiny range. A lot of popular WK maps are nigh untrainable using them because there's so much less margin for error, and you can't consistently hit large mobs (my Ruin Hammer cannot Powerstrike a frozen Wyvern which is facing away from me unless I'm standing close enough to it that I take touch damage for example). There aren't many 1h Paladins for the same reason - Blast uses stab range of the primary weapon, while Brandish has a fixed range and it doesn't matter what weapon you use, you just need raw strength.

Stereo, in the exchange thread for the badges I believe somewhere along the lines someone posted a screenie of the Crushed Skull or w/e. It does exist and a few people do have one.

At any rate, yea, it makes more sense to make it a blunt weapon. It would fit right along with a leather purse and a hard briefcase. However, event items tend to be 1h swords. Confused

All Fiel said was that they are one of a kind so you can't have more then one. They *MIGHT* be tradable, although items that are usually one of a kind and an equip are rarely that. Confused

But why would they expire? Put all of the work into them *look at my post on the extraction thread for my guesses* just to lose them? Heck no.

It will probably be like the Maple Hats. Anyone can get them, but they'll stay event only.

I'm just hoping the admin gives the quest so islanders can get the level 20 one. Big Grin

Godly? Not even. Manbags (Leather Purses) have an average of 34 attack. Their full range is 30-38, which would be one better then the lunchbox if it has a perfect attack. It is a 1h bw, but that makes little difference.

The only good thing about them is that they don't need any STR compared to ManBags so DEX islanders could really go pure DEX and not miss out on a leather purse in the earlier levels. Confused

Although missw3etooth might go for the level 60 one (she's currently 51 and shows no sign of stopping XD ), she would be the only one even remotely close, and even then, that's probably a good 300 hours of grinding (rough estimate of 30 some hours per level) just to reach it. Confused

Godly? No. But a new, cool, event only item? Heck yea. Big Grin
