I really wanna read some VNs (especially Umineko), but I don't have access to them and...I hate torrenting.

WUT.
No, you can probably just Google for most of them. I get most of mine either from forums, or from sites dedicated to Visual Novels that has a "DOWNLOAD HERE" button on it.

yeah or just add Megaupload or Mediafire to what you're looking for. xd

man, there's so many sex (or should I say "rape") scenes in "Hitomi -- My StepSister" that it's not even comparable to the amount of sex scenes I've seen in Saya. Holy f`uck. brb, gonna try to speedread and finish this and see if it ever gets anywhere. The protagonist is such a cold-hearted plantain. `-`
PS: This VN is ..... kinda dark, similar to Saya no Uta. But as far as a story, I'd say Saya no Uta is waaaay better. Not even comparable. Sorta recommending this if you like a somewhat dark story with like 99.99% sex scenes or whatever. >_>
Review for Hitomi-My Stepsister
Hard to review.. It starts out like any other typical VNs, it makes you wonder "k, where is this going?". Somewhere along... 5-10% of the novel, depending on the choices you make near this point, will affect whether you'll be with your stepsister or not. For your stepsister, there's 3 different endings. There's one in which she accepts the fake-"incest", one in which reveals why she acts the way she does, and another in which the protagonist dies. Not going into further details. Then there are two other women you could be with, the girl that the protagonist has been after, and the stepsister's mom. >_> I haven't done either of those, but I've unlocked all 3 endings for Hitomi. It wasn't that bad of a read once you get the "good" ending and understand why she's like that. Even then, there were too many h-scenes for me to be able to indulge all of this to make sense of a plot. :| But with the good ending, you get a deep understanding for her personality and mentality. So at least there's some sort of reasoning at the end. I give this a:
7/10
Once again, a dark VN. Only recommending this if you can stand a massive amount of h-scenes, incest, and minor abuse.

Completed:
-Clannad
-Umineko 1 and 2
Playing:
-Kanon (ME version, so no H. Haven't beaten a single route yet, since I barely play.)
Will Play After Kanon:
-Ever17
-Narcissu
-True Remembrance
Waiting/On Hold:
-Umineko (got part of the way through 3; gonna wait for the final version of the 1-4 translation WH will release after 8 comes out, and then play 1-8)
-Air (no translation patch)
-Little Busters (translation patch is progressing quickly, but doesn't work for ME version)
-Tomoyo After (translation patch is still in the works, and is almost dead...)
-Planetarian (patch doesn't work for ME version)
I really want to play Tomoyo After, but I wasn't even aware about there being a Translation Patch. Always under the assumption that none ever existed, and/or there was never one in the works. Also, there's no AIR translation patch? wut? >: I've been looking to play that too. <____<

There is one in the works. Status on it is that there's a new translator working on it who said, "Project is still being actively translated.".
I'm not too sure what's going on with Air. From what I understand, Air's translation project appears to have been dropped since late August.
Also, I've been seeing a lot of To Heart 2 figurines on AmiAmi as of lately. I don't know too much about it, so if anyone's played it, or know a lot about it, any comments? I'm thinking about giving it a try. Hopefully isn't pure hentai, ugh. But the art style really lures me in. HNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG-

Alright, I did some research for you.
To Heart 2 isn't pure hentai; in fact, it has low sexual content. I really don't know what you're looking for in terms of story. I really don't know; there's too little information about the actual story other than what VNDB says for me to know. What it says there doesn't really tell you anything.
Anyways, this visual novel doesn't sound like something I'd personally like, but I can't really say the same for you. Some people will like it, some people see it as subpar, and some people just plain don't like it. There are some people who have read the original To Heart (which doesn't have a translation, and it's an older art aesthetic), and see it a better read. This visual novel has an decent sized following surrounding it as well.
If you're still really interested in going on with it, To Heart 2 is about 50% translated right now, and there's a partial patch for what's been released so far prepared. I can help you with that, if you'd like. Also, Tama (Tamaki) seems to be the most popular and well received heroine among western audiences; and yes, her route is translated. She's voiced by Itou Shizuka, if that helps interest you into reading her route- but personally, I think you won't really know who to choose until you actually read it.

HELL YEAH!
But yeah, I went to VNDB and read up on it a bit, myself. Did some research on Wikis and what-not, and yeah, it is roughly 50% translated. I still can't seem to find a DL link + English patch for it though, I'm looking for that right now, actually. I've been looking at a lot of screenshots, and it doesn't look like it's something sh`itty.
I'm pretty sure TH2 was clean(ish) and then an "adult" version was released later (while the first did it in the opposite order), IIRC.
Anyway, all I know about it is Tamaki, who gets a ton of figures based on her announced per week. No idea why she's so popular, especially since the game/anime are slightly old now...
I'm currently playing Symphonic Rain at the moment, with English text working. It didn't work at first, but due to researching, I finally got it to. I think Smooth had a problem with this too. Not sure if he ever resolved it, but I do have a fix. In the folder, there should be a SR.reg file, you have to double-click that. Then once it supposedly edits your registry, you have to manually go into regedit (easy) and just find the Locale folder for the game. Then you have to make sure the directory is right. On mine as a default, was C:\Program\...... (whateverhere), but I had to change it to "Program (x86)" or whatever, because that's where my game was located. Also, if you do move the game files over to, let's say, and I'll use my directory as an example:
You must also change that file-path in the registry. That's easy to do as well, just tedious. I hope this helped. If you need a more well-written and detailed explanation, I'll be happy to contribute as much as I know. Final result?

Yes, I did. Read Symphonic Rain last spring, and found it an excellent read. Are you enjoying the soundtrack? It's one of my favorite parts of Symphonic Rain; and I listen to the vocal themes obsessively and still have it installed to play all of the songs. There's also a nice cover album by Ritsuko Okazaki, the composer of all the music in the game and performed the opening and an ending that plays in a route you get after completing all the main routes, where she did covers of all the vocal songs in the game just before she passed away. I'll send that to you when you're done reading it, although, it's a fairly long read.
Anyways, updating my status on Sumaga. Finished the only route fully translated, and I've decided to go on to read the partially translated route because I love reading this way too much and can't help myself from doing it. It's proven to be a really good read so far, and I'm positive the other routes won't disappoint.

I really enjoy the music so far, it's very relaxing and calming to hear. What I'm liking best from this Visual Novel out of all the ones I've played would be the sound of rain. I thought that was pretty awesome too. The scenery depicted by drawn artwork really makes me love this VN even more, I really can't explain why. It's extremely realistic, and my imagination can capture it piece by piece as I visualize it from one scene to the next. Can't give any more comments on it right now since I just started, but I'm enjoying what I see and read.
Reposting the "New to Visual Novels" chart, except I wisely censored out Swan Song.
This chart has a few untranslated titles, like Gore Screaming Show (supposedly pretty awesome read, from what I've heard) or the Baldr Sky series- and Sumaga's translation is incomplete, as I've said. Same case with Little Busters as with Sumaga, but there's a fair deal of it translated.
I really wonder if Kana Little Sister is any good. Hopefully it's not just Hentai-fest written all over. I might try that soon too.
PS: SURE WISH "AIR" WAS F`UCKING TRANSLATED. I wouldn't mind play that, and that was one of the games I really looked forward to when I began my quest for Visual Novels.
JoeTang Wrote:Kana Imouto was force baw in my opinion. I didn't like it too much.
Sharin no Kuni and Yume Miru Kusuri are my two favourites.
Keeping all of this in mind, thanks for the opinion. Hmm. But Kana Imouto wasn't hentai-fest, right? Obviously going to be h-scenes, but hopefully, it's not as sh`it as Hitomi - My Stepsister. ugh.

Uh. There was some scenes. I don't think it was a really central part of the story, or tried to be at all. What was the central part of the story was the forced bawww. I've probably just been desensitized to that type of crappy story though.

If something's on that rec list, I doubt it has that much H in it. Actually, I know Kana was sold censored in the US for a while, so there can't be too many.
