Some of your favorite Vidya Gaem music?

Some recent songs. I bet no one on this site bought this game.

Definitely this for starters along with basically everything in the 5 albums of Orchestral Game Music from the mid 90s by Tokyo Philharmonic.

Original version should be in the list of recommended vids at the end.

I'll be back after going through nostalgia again with some results. And I must agree with a lot that has already been posted. Mostly the Nintendo franchise stuff and Chrono Cross. I sometimes feel like going and buying that game just to get the music again (borrowed and beat).

Keep in mind since most of what I listen to comes from games, the genre of what I'll bring is varied.

I love Memoria's music. Very fitting for a final area filled with so much mystery.

Wanted to post the Tetris or Civ VI ones, but those tracks originated outside of the games.

So jumping off this thread, does anyone else here attend the Video Games Live concerts? Been so far in 3 locations; once inside, once in a field, and once in an amphitheater. All had nice aspects that stuck in memory. Indoor had interesting people in attendance, but technical difficulties, outdoor had cellphone/DS/PSP/Laptop waving at night (in place of candles), and the amphitheater had a blimp involved with the mid-concert retro games. Oh yeah, and Martin Lueng doesn't know any F-Zero stuff; I asked Rolleyes (4? years ago).

... Bah, no one on youtube uploaded Maria & Draco from the More Friends album. No love for opera these days Tongue. Far as I can tell, that's the only one decently in English. That particular album still has me a bit peeved. It was performed in the US (really missed the boat on getting a ticket, heard they were sold out within 2 hours of it being announced 8 months prior) so I wound up buying the album, but I had to import the dang thing. They couldn't figure that those kinds of ticket sales would mean domesticating it would be profitable or something? And I learned something with it... importing stuff ain't cheap.

Anyway, in it's place have this:

And I'll say it again, my tastes in music are all across the board.

I'll try my best to stay away from Touhou for now, since you could really go places with a Touhou music thread. I'm also staying away from including visual novels besides the Ace Attorney series.

This fucking song, man. I'll really never understand how such a shitty game managed to make a tune this catchy, great tune. It's not a masterpiece, but it's a piece that really stands out. Considering how crappy this game was, I wouldn't be surprised if they had spent all their time composing the song.

"Guys, I think we've finally done it!"
"What about the game?"
"What game?"

Oh those damn Cheetahman devs.

Both the original and the MvC3 remix.

Boy, they really did a good job remastering tracks in HG/SS. When I first heard this song though, I didn't even remember that this is what Ecruteak City's music sounded like. I really like the more traditional Oriental sound and instruments going on it in it.

Like I said before, they did a really good job remastering HG/SS songs. They managed to capture everything I loved about this song, and made it cooler with a more instrumental sound.

I've always liked the Katamari games' soundtracks. They're really different than stuff you find in most video games. Nice upbeat, catchy song; I don't really get why Spidey gets annoyed by it.

I love this funk version of the Whomp's Fortress theme. Has a nice "groove" to it, and not to mention, it's nostalgia material.

This song has some really great remixes, but I'm sure you knew that already. Posting because the original is really great on its own.

ALWAAAAAAAAYS. Song warrants mention on this thread.

I've been playing this game recently, and I really love this song, which I think is titled "Snow Fall". It captures this really deep sorrow and solitude, and makes you feel this really odd sense of empty space with the way it echoes and lets notes trail off at some points; which really works with the title. Since the game is a puzzle game where you basically match up similarly colored falling blocks to each other and blocks that are stacked up on the bottom, it gives the game a really gloomy, sad atmosphere.

Yume Nikki's soundtrack is pretty solid, and particularly profound. This is a pretty nice song out of it. When you play this game at 2~3 AM, this song gets pretty damn creepy. It gives me this strange sense of being engulfed by something large.

Man, this song is pretty friggin' sweet.

Was going through some chiptunes tonight and felt more love was needed in certain places.

 More Terranigma

Alright, I'm lazier than I thought when I set out to do this post. I'd like everyone to hear some of this stuff through their own pursuit since I don't want to post 50+ links myself. I just thought the topic needed to stay alive a little longer.

Blast I was going to edit before anyone came back to hide my laziness. Agreed with Ar Tonelico and Gust games in general. Very interesting vocal instrumentation they use.

I've only played the demo for this, but still:

Video games are a form of art, as is every piece that makes them whole. Just because music came from a video game does not make it any less music; quite the contrary, because it is from a video game, it has to hold that much more emotion to make up for what technology lacks in presentation. This is why I wish for this thread to prosper.

That Ar Tonelico 3 song is awesome! It didn't take me long to realize why, either. I was listening to it and instantly thought her voice sounded familiar. It reminded me of Umineko no Naku Koro ni... So I looked it up, and sure enough she did music for Umineko too! Haha. No wonder I loved it. Thanks for sharing. I never looked into other music she's done before. Ar Tonelico songs seem quite amazing from what I've sampled so far.

Lots of great music in this thread. I'm a huge fan of the music in Umineko and Touhou (no surprise there). I often listen to the game files/OSTs over any other music.

Since I'm talking about Umineko, some of the very best! Ever.

Ahhh better stop before posting every song. But really everything is amazing from Umineko. It's moreso a magical experience than listening to music.

One of my more favorite video game song redubs :

(I don't think this one is actually a redub. It sounds like the exact same sound byte that they used in Majora's Mask)

The Super Smash Bros. franchise has some nice Nintendo remixes.
