The thread for figure-collectors
#1
Sorry, couldn't think of a better name. I didn't want to put something like "FIGURE COLLECTOR CENTRAL". Thanks.

I just recently started to collect some figures, and I'm more-so aiming for the characters that I actually like in animu&mango, instead of just collecting everything that I see. So far I have:

Just this much so far

Trying to get this Touhou Project Nendoroid set: This here. What about you guys

PS: So, any of you f`uckers collecting this sh`it?

EDIT: bump

Sup. Not letting this thread die. May just be me and you talking though, don't think there are many figure collectors here on SP.

My most recent purchases made yesterday was Revoltech's Lazengann and this cute 'lil Rika figure.

Revoltech has really nice figures for decent prices. I have their Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and Yotsuba figures. I also have a Danbo (from Yotsuba) figure pre-ordered that's supposed to make its way to me sometime in January.

I don't have an account on myfigurecollection, mostly because I'm too lazy to keep track of my figures. I wrote up a review yesterday on Good Smile's Megurine Luka Nendoroid, but it was kinda my first figure review so it was less reviewing and more me taking cute pictures.

Nice figurines collection, dawg. My room's updated since these pictures were taken (updated significantly!), but I don't have those up yet. But for now:

Currently, there's a BRS Nendo I'm receiving very .. shortly. A friend's holding it for me, she already has it. I've also preordered a Serizawa Fumino (HNNNNNNNG TSUNDERE) PVC figure from AmiAmi, and I'll be getting that near mid or end of November. DELICIOUS

PS: Lazengann, hmm? Nice tastes, bro. I actually considered getting that as well, I have very little to no experience with Revoltech stuff though. :| I'm loving Wave and Griffon's stuff though, man, so much details.

Revoltech is very nice, especially with mech figures. They always come with so many alternate parts, you can swap the parts up, they're quite easy to pose around. I have a few Revoltech figures, 2 of them are shown in my above images. Krauser and Yotsuba are Revoltech, and in one image (you can't see it well) I swapped one of Yotsuba's arms for Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann's arm, since Revoltech parts can fit on each other.

I don't want to take Yotsuba out of her current Guitarist pose from my bookshelf, but I would take pictures of her with swapped parts to show you what I mean. The guitar she has on is Krauser's though.

They're reasonably priced, and still nice. I like them better than Figmas, when it comes to figures you can pose. The joints are also less noticeable, which is good because I kinda don't like the way joints look on figures.

I wanna get it really badly, but it'd put a dent in my wallet. Every time I think about getting it, a new figure comes along that grabs my attention as well.

I never knew that Revoltech parts are swappable like that. Huh. Interesting. Nendos are too, but they're too expensive for me. I got that one BRS Nendo just in time for around 1,100 JPY (I think) before AmiAmi took it down. :| Whew. Might have to get myself some TTGL Revoltech figures then. FEELS GOOD, MAN. Great to know.

It's just 100 dollars bro, what's the deal? Even as a NEET 100 should be no problemo.

I am mostly posting now because I feel guilty about forgetting to post before, and also because I am procrastinating, so I will not make this long and will post pics later while using this post to inspire some discussion. (It is midnight, so my grammar may be breaking.)

What do you guys use to buy your stuff? I usually use AmiAmi (unless HLJ or HS is having a deal on shipping).

Also, if you're looking for rare stuff (some of the GL Revoltechs are hard to find, I believe), Mandarake's your best bet (though I've never ordered from them personally, I've heard nothing but good things about them, even if their website is a little wonky). I've been searching for a TTGL Revoltech myself for a while though, and I haven't seen them anywhere... why they chose to rerelease some of the other GL ones and not TTGL, I do not know. Rolleyes

Forgot to mention what I think about Griffon. This image sums up my thoughts nicely:

Really, he does nice sculptures and all, but I hate how he puts the same face on his figures. He's been getting better with it lately, but when you look at his older figures, it's really apparent. It's nothing too major, just a minor annoyance I have. If I'm dishing out that much money for figures, I'd like it their faces didn't seem like they were using the same model.

AmiAmi is fine. Cheap prices, items are packaged in a nice way that don't ruin the boxes if you use SAL as your shipping method, and has some nice deals every now and then. Sometimes I user 1999.co.jp or HLJ when AmiAmi doesn't have something.

I've ordered from:

-eBay (only for stuff like wall scrolls, posters, Dakimakuras, etc)
-AmiAmi [primary source of figures]
-Otacute
-figure.fm (serious!)

I buy a lot from figure.fm too, there's some sellers out there that sells stuff for pretty cheap and at decent prices. Just gotta be careful, so yeah. I've bought my Rozalin figure for around 45 USD from figure.fm , she was literally in mint-condition, with box and everything. I check figure.fm daily too, for classified sales, new reviews or news about figurines, etcetcetc. When I'm on AmiAmi, I hit the "sales" section of Bishoujos to see if there's anything cheap. I don't buy from Otacute a lot nowadays, have been hearing bad things about 'em. eBay, I usually go to buy dakimakura covers, and stuff.

I frequently browse HLJ, 1999.co.jp, e2046 (but their stuff is uber expensive, because they're all GKs), and various sites too, but I haven't bought from them. Heard about Mandarake or whatever, but haven't went on there much. Only tried once. The layout is strange.

Oh c'mon, you can't be dissin' Griffon.

 Spoiler

Sure the eyes might resemble eachother (and so does the majority of all anime) but characters really stand out in their costumes and outfits. Particularly with Griffon, the bright colors and poses. And despite the motion in the poses, no fan service or visible pantsu.

Yes, nice sculptor, and does make rather nice poses, but the faces bother me at times. Some of the faces seem rather off on the character simply because he pretty much used a previously made face as a base. Also, as a figure collector, I do notice differences in faces from my more expensive figures. You can argue the whole "anime face swap" thing, but that's not exactly what I'm talking about here. Regardless, the faces shouldn't be just pasted on with minor tweaks. The Suika you posted is one of the newer figures, and as I've said, he's been getting better as of late with actually making the faces different from each other.

Cirno and Suika have faces that stand out from the other figures, faces that are unique and belong to them (moreso from Cirno). That's what I'm looking for. I don't want a clothing and hair swap, I want figures that look unique on their own.

Wow I want that Sakuya in your wishlist. I actually have a bunch of stuff I bought from China, but haven't really placed. I'll get around to taking pictures if I remember when I go home.

The shipping thing makes sense if you look at AmiAmi's shipping price chart.
SAL starts at 2kg. for 3850. Since EMS is 3520, it must be ~1.7kg. So SAL is actually cheaper than it should be, for some reason.

Not at home, so I can't post pics, but here's my MFC. I did set up categories for them, so they're organized if you check that.
