Hint at pirates?

Maybe they are going to announce the release on 9/19.

So maybe we'll get Pirates in October.

I find some of the pessimism pretty funny. I think actually releasing pirates on the actual talk like a pirate day is a pretty great idea, whether they officially announce it or not. Nexon has a habit of keeping us in the dark until the last minute anyway, so it wouldn't be that unusual for them to release it this soon. 4th job was huge, so they gave a good prelude, and so was NLC and its expansion. And maybe we can expect some kind of hint within the coming week, who knows. And that GM event could have just been doing something to stir up rumors about the release instead of them actually telling us anything directly.

I'd prefer October 9th to be the release instead of 19th, it would make a really nice birthday present for me or rather the 10th, let me do what I want on my birthday and give me my present a day later

The most logical thing to me would be an announcement about pirates coming (which would slate it for somewhere in the late October-early November time period). But wait, when has Nexon followed logic?

Or maybe the GMs really talk like pirates while they work at the headquarters or w/e. They have fun with it and want everyone else to have fun with it too? :o

IIRC, GM events are/were on Fridays. Maybe they're going to do some extra special ones on that particular day (the 19th is a Friday).

Those are my guesses.

In my honest opinion I think it was just the GM's copout response to being spammed with Pirate questions.
Similar to when somebody smega'd asking when we would get Showa and the GM responded with "I took a showa this morning"

On a side note, Showa was interesting because the original day of release was on an unrelated "Showa Day" in Japan. Then it got delayed a week

I think that people tend to over-react towards anything a GM says. I, myself, have been guilty of this.

Actually, more than a few versions have done a prerelease event. The port itself isn't open, I believe, but there are a number of quests relating to the arrival of the Nautilus and the Pirate job. I do believe that if we get the prerelease event, the very next patch would be to truly release Pirates. If they're going to do a Pirate related event on Friday, I could totally see them patching Thursday night to add in these quests, even if they add in NOTHING else.

But when did the Showa/shower thing happen? We DID get Showa, you know. Not saying that WAS a hint or anything (good chance it wasn't), just saying when looking at the past with knowledge of the present, don't think of things which may be predictive in nature so pessimistically. They said something about a "showa" pun and Showa Town was released some time after that. That doesn't necessarily mean the person was hinting about it, but it's entirely possible that they were, because we know now that we did get Showa some time after that debacle.

Person 1 says Pirates aren't coming out and gives a reason for it.
Person 2 says it's good deduction.

But Person 1's reasoning is flawed and wrong. There have been plenty of patches on Fridays, and even if not, the development team could easily schedule a patch for a Thursday night into Friday morning anyway. And Person 2 knows this. He knows that they've patched on Friday in the past, and he knows that it is entirely within their power to patch on a Friday if they want to. So it's really:

Person 1 says Pirates aren't coming out and gives flawed reasoning for it.
Person 2 says "good deduction", but really is making fun, saying that it's not good deduction at all.

Even if I'm wrong and Talk like a Pirate day is NOT related to Pirate job in gMS, I am still entirely right in this regard. The person put up flawed logic and the GM on the forums knows it's not solid logic. Notice also that Hime didn't deny it, but rather said only "good deduction" (which is likely ironic, as detailed), and not "you're absolutely right, we will not be releasing Pirate job that day and it is not related to Pirate job in any way. Please stay tuned in the future for news about the job, because it is still a long ways off."
