30 magic attack vs 55% damage (From 645% to 690% on Chain Lightning)

Made a typo on the thread title, it's 45% damage, not 55%.

Well, i have 22 points for fourth job on my Archmage, after i use the SP reset on there after Big Bang.
I could go on two ways. Go 20 Chain Lightning - 690% damage (Haven't used the CL30 book) and spare the other two points into something like Magic Mastery (6 matk at level 2).
Or max Magic Mastery and have 30 m. attack, and spare the other 11 points into CL, which would be 645% damage.

My question is, which one would be better?

Magic Mastery is always better. In this case it would be better unless you have 400 magic attack.

Magic Mastery should be the first skill any Adventurer magician maxes post-BB.

The 30matk from magic mastery is an awesome boost.

690/645 from the increase in CL results in only a 7% boost.

30/Matk is higher than 7% unless you have more than 428 matk already (extremely unlikely)

Note that Magic Mastery doesn't raise your Mastery. Just raises by 50% your buff duration + 30 matk.

They both are important in training for different situations. However, Big Bang is much more of a 1-pointer skill than CL, having most of its power already at level 1.

CL goes from 595% -> 740% at max... It's just as much of a 1 point skill as BB, except CL is. Actually, judging by just the % damage, CL and BB are both ~80% of their max strength at lvl 1.

On topic - I'd say go with magic mastery -> CL -> Infinity, but we really have to wait until BB comes out or we get more info from other versions to see what works best.

CL, however gets an increasing critical chance as levels go.

From 6% to 10% isn't really worth it. When it comes to the case i mentioned above.
Still, 15% critical rate seems purely awesome.
