Oh wow

I was at the university library working on some stuffs for a group project. I roughly finished what I could at ~7 because I was flippng hongry at that point. All I had as a lunch was technically 2 donuts (from Dunkin Donuts) and some light fruit snacks, so I went to SUBWAY for something cheap to fill me up until I got home. I dumped my soup bowl and sandwich paper away and was about to leave when I saw SOMETHING GREEN AND MESSILY FOLDED UP, RESTING ON THE SIDE OF THE INSIDE GLASS WINDOW. I look closer, I thought "whoo. A dollar." Upon closer inspection I thought I was going crazy. I saw the face of Ben Franklin! I thought, "No way, it's gotta be a fake troll bill". I made sure no one was returning hastily to pick it up, because there was no way someone would just plant it there. I picked it up, unfolded it, and MY GOD IT'S REAL.

Now the problem here is that I immediately felt really bad for whoever was the one who lost a hundred dollars in a SUBWAY of all places. I pocketed it away and considered trying to return the money to whoever lost it. I ran through my head ideas, such as turning it in to the police when I got home. The problem with that is there will be greedy people coming in to claim that they were the ones who lost the money so the money will be lost to selfish people. I thought of just leaving it there, but I'd have to be really stupid to ignore money just lying there. I just couldn't stop feeling bad to whoever lost it, but I knew leaving it alone would do no good.

I was feeling morally conflicted, but I knew at the very least I can make some good of the money as long as I'm holding onto it. If I leave it alone someone else may just use it for their own purposes without any other consideration. I decided to at the very least to donate around $20 to a local charity when I have the time, and THEN decide from there what to do with the rest of it. I don't care if you guys think I'm naive for not wanting to spend it on myself. If there was a surefire way to have known who dropped the money I'd give it back to him/her post haste, but seeing it was in a fast food restaurant of all places and there was no name on the money, I had 0 leads so there was practically no way I can find the person unless I was somehow telepathic or have psychic powers to let me know who was the last person who was holding onto that hundred dollar bill. for that person.

Finders keepers. There's no way someone would get that $100 back.

Hey, at least you're donating some cash to charity (I don't expect anyone to donate all 100% to charity). If you spent all 100% on yourself I would've yelled at you, though.

It most likely belonged to some poor dude, cause I don't know anyone reasonably well-off that carries hundred dollar bills lying outside of their wallet, especially a fast food chain.

It's very possible that it's not a mistake you found the money, whoever owned that bill could have put it there on purpose. I've known more than a few people who were mostly well off compared to other people and would go around to random places and put either 50's or 100's around that place for whoever would find them.

The fact that you found it all wadded up makes what I said more likely than you might think.

1. I told my family about it when I got home, and my mom inspected it. The see-through Ben Franklin face on the right side was there, there was a security strip on the left side that says "USA 100" over and over. It also feels right, so I'm sure it's the real deal.

2. I have no idea. It's like one of those epic fail moments that just have to be seen to be believed. Hang on Imma upload the picture of the window sill.

I found a hundred dollar bill on the ground at Target a month or so ago. I spent that pomegranate. Save the money for something you need.

Alright, now I believe this is a case of a generous person and not just an unlucky person. Instead of feeling sorry for whoever lost it you should send a thanks out to them instead, probably not the first time they "lost" money.

Id probably use that 100 dollar for a trip to Universal studios singapore, cause i live here anyway... wouldnt make sense for you cause an air ticket to here costs wayyymore and kills the purpose of 'gaining'.

Some leave them in random places, others place them strategically and then leave clues as to where it's hidden. Why people would do this for fun idk.. but i've found one once with $1000 CAD. Friend of mine found a clue for one but never found it, probably someone found a better clue and it was long gone.

Finding 100 dollars is no different from finding 1 dollar. Why would anyone need to feel guilty about finding one?

If i were a majillionaire, i'd totally go around and make scavenger hunts for people to get potentially hundreds of dollars. It's like a game you can play with the entire city!

Update: On Saturday I looked around my area for a charity, but I couldn't remember off the top any notable charities, so I went to the next best thing: a local church. I remembered one church where I spent some of my elementary school summers just being there, and not to mention going to Friday night church with friends. I figured give back to the church, for the time the people there spent looking over me. Donated exactly as I promised: $20. Felt good man.

The odds of someone carelessly holding onto an entire Ben Franklin and dropping it as opposed to carelessly holding onto singles and dropping them is much rarer. To me this is the equivalent of getting enough numbers that I get a piece of the week's lotto winnings.
