Nexon Wrote:Dear Maplers,

Please know that the game update to version 91 introduces eTracer, a new feature that will allow us to easily collect diagnostic information when you experience an error and MapleStory abnormally shuts down.

When encountering an error, you will see this window:

Please give us as much information as possible here so that we can accurately and efficiently resolve the problem. As always, please refrain from including your personal account information, as Nexon will never ask you for your password, PIN, or PIC, and you should not share this information with anyone.

We thank you in advance and happy Mapling!

...Wut?

Oh. I would think this patch was supposed to actually fix something, rather than implement something that likely won't.

Oh, so this was added.

Huh. Guess they're trying to figure out what exactly is causing the vista / win 7 issues. Not too shabby, could actually fix things if they use this properly.... HAH. Right.

Didn't hackshield already have this?

Aw, I thought it'd be some awesome new security feature.

But I guess they can collect a bunch of reports of people dcing on vista/win7. Even though I used to submit a bunch to AhnLab with no avail.

Still won't help. If they have no time for tickets, they'll have no time for this.

Tickets don't send debug information.

This would, or so I assume. So Should be more helpful.

Basically, tickets are reviewed by a bunch of CS people reading solutions from scripts, this may actually be looked at by programmers?

I love this patch already.

It's going to be as useful as Alert GM function, and as fast as the ticketing system Smile

This looks like a wonderful change! I hope it makes a difference!

They didn't need to put this in. They wouldn't lose face, like they would if they had no customer service system. This was out of the blue, and nobody was asking for a debug system. I think this is actual attempt to make the game better.

Yeah, and imo, it's about as useless as the Mozilla Crash Reporter that FF has.

That one doesn't go to Nexon.

I agree with the logic here.

For all we know, this may be a seperate temporary team brought in just for Big Bang to resolve these kinds of issues before launch.

I hope you are wrong but I fear this is how it will be.

I fear people with 64-bit will not be able to work with this feature. Maybe.

Fiel Wrote:Yeah, it was packed with UPX (translation - not packed at all). I'm trying to run it, but it doesn't play nice with 64-bit.

...or maybe it needed Maple for it to run... who knows?

They probably won't even respond to you with this. It'll just let them see where the real problems lie.
