Man those commercials were terrible. I'm glad Dell stopped it.
Anyway, if all goes according to plan, I should be getting a Wii on Wednesday and I want to know what I should look into playing. No, I'm not going to pirate games, so keep in mind that they need to be available in North America.
My "to buy:" list currently consists of:
Super Paper Mario (I HAVE WANTED YOU SO LONG FINALLY YOU SHALL BE MINE!!!)
Donkey Kong Country Returns
Kirby's Epic Yarn
Epic Mickey (iffy)
Rayman Origins when it finally comes out (real Rayman, not the bullpomegranate Rabbid series that has somehow abducted the name Rayman)
Whatever Tales games there may be on the wii, if any.
Thinking about possibly getting Super Mario Galaxy but it just looks kind of bland and exactly like the rest of the games in the series so it's really dependent on whether or not it gets recommended with some convincing reasons.
Anything else? Mostly into RPGs... not a fan of swinging the wiimote like a moron, so keep that in mind too.
Oh also tell me about the wii's online stuff. And about that ridiculous Mii thing
Oh, one more note. Anything that's released on the PS2/3 I've probably already played.

Mario Kart? Or Brawl? Not RPGs but they're still pretty fun.
I'm not a big fan of games that require extensive use of the Wiimote motion control either.

Zelda: Twilight Princess and the new Zelda coming out are good RPGs.
Get Super Mario Galaxy, it was really exciting when I played it first years ago.

I hate Kart racers and have never found SSB fun, so that's out of the question.

I own TP on my GC and Skyward Sword is very slash-like-a-moron intensive. I'll probably still buy it because it's a Zelda game BUT I'M NOT GOING TO BE HAPPY ABOUT IT.

Oh my God get Super Mario Galaxy, it's AMAZING. The levels are fun, the story is so aww-worthy and it's really worth all the attention it gets. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is amazing as well, it's an almost perfect sequel. I say almost because it doesn't have the story from the first game but it makes up for it by having levels that are even more fun than the first. Both games have great replay value. <3
Super Paper Mario, you will LOVE it. I played through it for the first time last month and loved every bit of it.

You should get that limtied edition Mario Anniversary red Wii.
The game I'm currently awaiting for the Wii is The Legend of Zelda : Skyward Sword. It should be amazing! Fully orchestrated audio!!
If you like fighting games, I'd suggest Budokai Tenkaichi 3. It's Dragon Ball and I don't know if you like that much, but the game itself is fun as hell.
I don't know what other games there are for the Wii, sadly (other than the already aforementioned ones). I mostly go after classic series of games (Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc.).
I hear Other M is terrible. Some people say they like it, though. If you like shooters and like Metroid, buy it at your own risk. ;x Metroid Prime : Corruption is good. Again, first person shooter. It's kind of hard to get used to with a Wii, but overall, great game to go with the series' great history.

Doesn't matter. Anyone who buys a console on launch is a moron. Especially if it's an XBOX equivalent, haha. Besides, I'm getting this for $150 no tax, nunchuck, wiimote, controller and two games that I get to pick from probably a shitty selection.
Kind of depressed that I'm not getting a ton of really good selections. This gen sucks.

Well Muramasa was a pretty fun action RPG for me. A pseudo sequel to Odin Sphere, which i liked, so i had to have Muramasa.

Please feel free to ignore tales of symphonia 2 for the wii. Or if you really feel like getting, please at least look up some of the reviews. My friends and I are all pretty major fans of the tales of series (Tales of the abyss being my favorite). Playing ToS2 on the wii was ... well... a major disappointment for all of us to say the least. However, preferences differ from person to person obviously, so you might end up finding it bearable. Even before playing, just seeing some gameplay videos (and the mystic artes) for the characters... it seemed like a game I wouldn't like. It's been the only tales game I've played and haven't liked D:
If you ever played final fantasy crystal chronicles, then there's 2 wii games like it,... uh... FFCC: echoes of time, and another but I can't recall the name.

Oh think Odin Sphere's style of graphics in a japanese setting. You play as either Momohime(possessed princess) or Kisuke(amnesiac ninja). Forge weapons from slain enemies souls and use each Muramasa's unique(for the most part) special skills. Their are over 100 Muramasa to obtain and many can only be made after completing the game with both characters. Epic bosses galore ranging from giant demons to Gods.

Haha, Abyss was my favourite as well. Really good story, fleshed out characters with really good development and nice story pacing. Battle system was great (but Star Ocean still beats it) and there was a lot of extras. Awesome game. The original Symphonia was really bad as far as I'm concerned (though Isaac has argued the opposite with me several times before) so it's not like I'm going in with high expectations. Care to elaborate a little further (if you've got the time and will to write it, I'd even read an entire essay breaking it down)
About FFCC... the first one on the GC was brutal. Then the one on the DS had enough major changes that made it tolerable as a game, though nothing noteworthy. Which are the two wii ones more comparable to?

Hm, how'd you feel about Okami, Sarah?
The Wii port has so-so controls in comparison to the original PS2 game, and using the brush skills can be difficult because of a lack of precision. I have MotionPlus, and it takes time to get used to drawing the skills. I know it took me a bit to get the hang of things during the tutorial of the game. Overall, though; I was able to learn over time and got used to it. It's not half bad of a port, but if you'd really like to enjoy this game at its finest, then I think you'd rather just go with the PS2 version if you haven't played that yet.
Also, seconding Muramasa. It's an excellent 2D sidescroller with RPG elements, just like Odin Sphere. It can be pretty difficulty particularly during bosses.

Got and beat the PS2 version. Was a really good game... somewhat surprisingly, given the premise. It was very long for a platformer, too. I actually keep wanting to replay it but then I think about that damn block puzzle near the end that I had to video tape in order to finish I get discouraged.

Yeah I'd also suggest Muramasa, it is an AWESOME game, especially if you liked Odin Sphere. Very nice art-style, and it looks nice, even given Wii's lack of HD. These are just personal favorites of mine, but does Resident Evil suit your tastes? RE4 is pretty awesome, though it may or may not be hard to find now. Metroid Prime Trilogy is another I'd suggest.....what else... y'know, the Wii really is lacking in solid titles....it's why mine collects dust in the corner of my room these days. :|

The games I'd recommend to you are:
- Muramasa: Demon Blade: Great RPG game, and I don't even like most RPG games. It doesn't even feel like an RPG. The art is beautiful and the gameplay is awesome. Just getting a new sword to see what it does feels great. Most bosses aren't pushovers, so, they last a while.
- New Super Mario Bros. Wii: A very good game, especially if you play it with someone else.
- Both Mario Galaxies: They are unlike any game I've played, very entertaining and sometimes challenging, especially in the later and special worlds.
As for WiiWare:
- CaveStory: Awesome game, also came out for PC, which I think is free.
- World of Goo: Another PC game, that later came out for Wii.
Then there's the games that I'd recommend, but you'd like if you enjoyed the series:
- Mario Kart Wii
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl
- Megaman 9 (WiiWare)
- Megaman 10 (WiiWare)
- Pokemon Rumble (WiiWare), it kinda gets repetitive after a while.
- Sonic 4, Episode 1 (WiiWare)
Have fun with your Wii!

It hasn't been released anywhere else but Japan at the moment, but you might want to check out Xenoblade when it does. (It's not related to Xenogears or Xenosaga they just named it that in honor of the Xeno series) Taking a viewpoint of someone who hasn't played either Xeno games it seems like a rather good RPG with a decent story and fun gameplay. Also, I hear it doesn't suffer from cutscenes like MGS4 or Xenosaga.
