Blockparty.com coming Spring 2011
#1
http://freetoplay.biz/2010/10/13/vgsummi...is-headed/

"Daniel Kim

That's one of the reasons we're switching from Nexon.net to Blockparty.com starting early spring 2011 because we are trying to provide more ways for users to connect outside of our game clients."

It is finally coming, well over a year since we first were told about it.

Also

"Localisation is not just language translation. We have a staff of 160 people - none of which are developers.:f6:They simply plan localized content for different regions. I.e. Maple Story's wedding system was very Korean originally. The team converted this to a Vegas-style wedding with Elvis as reverend. We do a lot of changes and additions to make them relevant to the local market, not just in terms of language."

I think a Vegas-style Wedding is just as foreign to most GMS players as a Korean-style Wedding would have been...more time should be spent on fixing game breaking things that matter. Rolleyes

Aside from the name, the entire BlockParty concept is a poorly conceived re-branding mess that shows just how out of touch Nexon is with its audience. People still don't understand Wizet/Nexon and now matters are only going to get worse. Introducing those horrid new mascots and creating a social network to talk with other people about the games you play with other people is downright stupid. If they aren't able to completely overhaul the gaudy new interface before it's released to the public, I hope this blows over as quickly as New Coke.

10% account for 80% of revenues...? I thought the pareto principle stated 20/80. They must have some very affluent users.

Yeah i could've swore it was 20/80 last time they mentioned that. Indirect confirmation that their wealthy user base has severely dwindled in number?

As far as blockparty goes...not looking forward to it. At all.

We all know that they're blockheads, they don't need to remind us.

Blockheads....I hate those things... T.T

Well, I guess we'll just have to see, though if they finally go through with this or not. But, ew, Blockparty... Nexon sounds better than that :[

It's a poor attempt on their part to scrap all the individual game sites together into a single social network / portal with a new hip name.

Basically Steam, I guess.

But with Nexon.

I still don't understand. I went on and it's basically just another website with a fancy layout.

it's a central location for all games. if you look at the community section (forum) all of the game forums are located there instead of being spread out. i believe the intention is to entice users to look beyond what they're currently playing and check out other games since it's not so much of a hassle as having to go to 5 different sites.

You know with the release of cubes, and from personal experience. I'm not even suprised.
