I guess, but Apple products are in the spotlight the most. You dont see News Hosts doing stories about the new Nvidia card, or what Intel is doing. Xbox's/Playstations/Nintendo consoles get a little bit of general coverage, but they only release new things once every few years. Apple unveils new products every 4-6 months.

And everyone has to buy them because they're apple products. And they hold half their supply to get you to buy the "limited stock" version for more moolah.

Things in my family that have to do with Apple:

--Mom's book. She hardly uses it, because she's technology illiterate, and I know shyt about them compared to Windows.
--Brother's iTouch, which he won in a lottery.
--25k worth of stock, growing absurdly larger. LOL!!

My collection of iThings: iPod nano bought for 100 dollars in new york in 2009.

Pros
-Long lasting battery
-Good sound quality
-Good physical space
-Easy to navigate menus, natural

Cons
-Earphone's rubber degraded
-No queueing system
-Hard to make playlists/organize what you will listen in the next hours from inside the iPod
-Requires you to use iTunes
-No support for radio

Overall I'm a happy costumer (since I didn't pay outrageous price in Brazil, there it's just not worth it).

I FOUND an iPod Touch 2g last year at the end of the semester. I was cleaning rooms and 1 of them was a pigsty. But while throwing things away, there was an iPod left behind ^O^. I dont use it.. It just sits in my car, plugged into my radio.

I'm telling the truth: My family does not own a single Apple product, no matter how much I bug my mom for one.

My family's Apple history.

iMac Desktop (the ridiculously huge ones that have see through backs)
iPod Mini -lost it-
Macbook Jaguar OS/Tiger OS (not sure which), still have it. (Battery is like pomegranate though, .5hours of usage per use @ full charge)
iPhone 3G, lol dead pixels 1/17th of the screen
Macbook Snow Leopard OS
anddddd 6 hours ago my sister just got an iPhone4.

Kinda funny how my dad buys and buys apple products but he doesnt use it. All the stuff he bought ended up with my siblings. (iphone3g to my younger sister, macbook1 to my older sister, ipod mini to me) The only Apple stuff he has RIGHT NOW is the 2nd Macbook.

sure is pointless hating in this thread. Wanna know why Apple products are so popular? Because they work good. The only minor annoyance is iTunes

also, to quote shidoshi
 Spoiler

Almost all of those are solved in the latest generation nano, except for the queuing and the playlist thing, but you can make playlist on touches and iphones.

Anyway, my Apple products:

iPod Touch 2G (mom has it now)
iPhone 4
iPod Nano 3rd Gen (god knows where this guy is)
(soon)iMac

Because the iPad has an 11 hour battery life? Because the iPad doesn't require you booting up your laptop? Because the iPad's OS is snappier than your laptop's? Because the iPad's OS is easier to use? Because the iPad has like 25k apps? Because the iPad is easier to take out than your laptop? Because the iPad is more mobile than your laptop? And I believe that graph is incorrect; the iPad does have a headphone jack, and can output to video.

Yet, why has it been such a success, I mean, it can't just be GOOD right?

Spec lists aren't an indication of a good product.

But I digress.
