Maple Crashes
#1
Describe the problem. Be as specific as possible!:

Every minute or so, maple crashes. What I mean is that it flashes between the background screen and the correct screen (like in following screenshots) and I lose control of my character.

 Images of problem

Alt tabbing is the only way to fix it, but it's only temporary. The problem keeps coming back.

The only crashing problem I've had since this patch is the one on boats (any transport).

The bug works like this: you will DC if you don't keep still on the boat. Notably changing equips and using skills.

I'm also getting an error message the says that the file MSVCP71.dll is missing, whenever I use alt+enter. However, Maple still runs exactly the same in windows mode after I hit the OK button.

By the way, I do have that file. It's in my Windows System 32 folder.

You could try putting a copy of the dll in the maplestory directory. My computer has many copies of several versions of this dll since it seems most applications that use it install a copy in the applications directory.
Other than that, no idea. There are all sorts of different problems happening, as if nexon can't make the program entirely compatible with any computer.

Edit: that file dates back at least to 2003. Lol. No wonder that there are problems with Vista and 7.

I'm getting your same two problems. Especially the first one, on Windows 7, which is really, really annoying.

I have an Intel® HD Graphics card. You would say that it's probably related to compatibility problems.

Wrong. Sadly, I get the same problem on Korean MapleStory (or better, the same kind of problem, since the only difference is that, instead of flashing map objects and crashing, the screen just goes black after a while and you can't do anything anymore unless you alt+tab), which has the Windows Vista/7 compatible client. So it's most likely related to the video driver itself on Windows 7. Probably not related to the video card, since with the same driver on XP, MapleStory works fine.

In fact, one of the most annoying and bothering MapleStory bugs. This started happening to me since several patches ago, so.. yeah. I really hope they'll fix that. And fast.

If I'm ever getting on the next Tespia, it'll be one of the bugs I'll INSTANTLY report.

This fixed that dll problem. However, it didn't fix the crashing.

Don't put the .dll in the MapleStory folder.
Put it on System32 if it's a 32-bit system and your SysWOW64 if it's on a 64-bit system.

It was already in System 32. I copied it into my MapleStory folder and THEN it worked.

Are you sure you run a 32-bit system?
What operating system do you run?
Does your graphic card need an update?

Another thing I've noticed is that my friend gets this as well, it's from moving maps too much without allowing the frames to load.

I get this from staying on crowded maps (such as Free Market Entrance Channel 1) for too long.

Out of curiousity, what video cards do you guys have?

I have a Toshiba Satellite L635 and I made no modifications to it.

Oh hey. That explains what happened to me. *F3* changed my hat once on the boat then tried to change back right before landing and got kicked. Can't say I've had anything else bizzare though, at least not like Harrison's DCing. o_o

1. That's a 64-bit system. Add the .dll to SysWOW64 along with System32.
2. Try to see if your Intel HD Graphics card needs a driver update

HAH!!!!

I knew it!! You have my same graphics card!!

I knew it must've been related to that. Completely different computer brand as well, meaning it's not because of that software which the brand of your computer installs in it (such as power-saving software), either.

One interesting note is that you have my same Operative System as well. You know what? If even downgrading my DirectX won't solve the issue, I'd suggest you to write a ticket to Intel about it. They said they had received no complaints about this until now, and that they have tested the game on Windows Vista and Intel HD Graphics and it worked fine.

Now, if someone else other than just me wrote them a ticket about it, they'd test the game on a machine like ours more likely, and would hopefully find and fix the issue related to the video driver.

If you want I can give you directions on how to do it.

I tried doing it several times, but, ironically, it's the LATEST version which gives the most problems.

I always end up having to downgrade to an old version because the game is almost unplayable after a few minutes, and even then, it still gives issues.

Just started up Maple today and within 5 minutes my screen starts flashing. Seems like rolling back the Intel driver didn't work. -____-

Yeah, I noticed. I even restored my computer for nothing.

What OS are you using?

You know they tested it on Windows Vista with that card and that they say it gives no problems on that OS right? You know that I have Windows XP and the same card gives me no problems right?

It's proved that it doesn't give any issues.. on THOSE Operative Systems.

It's most likely related to the DRIVER and Windows 7 Home Premium x64 bit. Nevermind if you have that OS.

Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit and both Windows XP Professional SP3 give me no problems.

I tried to log in when the tokens started to drop... killed 2? I think skelegons and bam maple closes with no errors...

Was very discouraging to a person who rarely even logs in anymore. How could things have possibly gotten any worse since
the fixing of lag spikes? I hadn't logged in since the patch happened.

That's strange. Really, really strange.

I wonder what's causing it then.

EDIT: Ever tried standing in FM Entrance Channel 1 for around 30 minutes?
