Plus with mob HPs changing I think Gallos are the least of your concerns. You won't be ohkoing them anymore. That being said, chances are this mega patch won't hit GMS till December 2010/January 2011, so there's plenty of time to go from 70-120 on an Aran. No worries.

oh dayum. FrozNlite has earned my respect. He predicted the release month for gMS 7 months early

I can agree with this and disagree. Theres no way in hell NEXON would get rid of Masteria. The outrage from the players would be astronomical. I think what they're trying to 100% say is. They have to change it to the fact where it works 100% with our version and it's harder to do because other versions like MSEA, JMS WT areas are going to be really hard to fix up because the other versions don't have them. If WT"s are removed it'll be temporary. Mushroom Shrine is too much of a cash income for gacha and what would be the logic to add Ulu City then very next path take it out? Wouldn't make sense and would be a waste of a patch and time. So I think their wording is different and they're just saying it's going to be REALLY hard to fix all that coding up. And for the not coming to GMS thing I'm almost 100% sure they mean that other areas like China etc will not come until it's all straightened out in their native versions. Just my thoughts.

I wonder what they will do to jms and msea exclusive content.
Will they ask for jMS and SEA to do the decisions early or something? Because I doubt they will just go and change content of other version, because then it would be different from what those versions will have when they get BB. I also doubt that other versions will let gMS decide for the changes, just cause it's first version to get BB.

Well remember the first blog? They said that theres an office with all the versions into one building. We also believe that THMS and GMS worked together on the Visitor event. So I would assume that they would probably call in the JMS and MSEA teams to change their mobs to their liking and then they can just copy and paste those changes to their version. It would be sort of logical and easier to do that way.

My mage BETTER have a cooldown on his ultimate, and they better not change the skills. My I/L mage finally has a reason to get more of my commitment ._.

Really excited for big bang but, I have a bit of a question concerning W7:

I use a Windows 7 Client, I even have gotten a high leveled' dual blade with it, I don't see why everyone is saying it's totally incompatable. Although, one thing I have been noticing(I just recently got a new comp which came with windows 7, which I previously had X) is that I dc during ANY boss fight within 15 minutes, I'm not sure if that has to do with w7 or if I just need to update the drivers or something..I was pretty mad when I got to manon in dojo and dc'ed , screwing over all my partners. Is this W7's fault?

I really want to be in Tespia for once, I hope they like, invite a LOTTTTTT of people.

Let's just hope if something bad is found during testing that can and would force the date back a bit that Nexon actually does themselves a favor, other than shooting themselves in the foot and blaming us the users, they actually push back the date a bit.

Most of the Vista and 7 issues are centered on the compatibility with Vista and 7's HAL and the total compatibility of the x64 platform.

We have elemental wands & staffs and I've heard KMS does not? Perhaps they plan to lower some of the elemental damages from mages attacks to match the fact that wands/staffs are available for enhancing that.

Also KMS does not have those NLC pots and it's possible that our adjustments will include the fact that % pots are readily available. Ultimate spamming has always been possible for everyone here but probably only for the wealthy in KMS. So I think it's possible that the cool down is reduced while lowering the total damage at the same time.

Also the lack of removal in the past of acc from PG and poison mist makes me wonder if they plan to keep leaching available for the "American market."

Shidoshi Wrote:I haven't been able to test it myself but I heard reports of people using poison mist at skeles at level 80 and sometimes they would go through the mist unscathed.

You have to take into account that mist still tries to poison every second so a small chance to miss wouldn't make much difference.

My lvl 79 F/P has had 100% success misting in the skelle mini dungeon. :f6: (I'm busy leaching all I can before it's possibly gone forever.)
Maybe your friends don't understand that mist is not 100% success and that repeated exposure is required to poison?

Overall I think the blog was good. It informed people not to expect 100% what KMS got and to tell Nexon America your opinion - what you want and what you don't want. Probably some people never expressed their opinion because they figured they were getting what KMS got. And I was expecting a December patch all along so no surprise there for me.

pineapple big bang, where's my windows 7 compatibility?

As long as Tespia comes soon enough we won't really need to worry about these details about how Big Bang might not fit in perfectly with GMS. When Eurydice said that I just thought about the world tour though, and how that might not work as well.

idk

They better not do that. I've spent hundreds of dollars just to buy/enhance my ele wands alone. I'ma rage quit if that happens..

I'm sorry but if anyone rage quits because a game changes is pretty immature. No I don't mean things like the game is unable to play, we have to start from square one that deserves a rage quit. But things like skill changes(example the ultimate cool downs) any weapon changes, the accuracy changes, and the exp changes how people "rage quit" because everything they did before was a "waste" really needs to be smacked over the back of the head.

It's reasonable to be angry if something you spent tons of money on gets removed/nerfed to a drastic point. Not saying it will happen, I really doubt that it will.

Spending precious time and money on something only for it to completely backfire on you is what I'm talking about. If the value of ele wands staves was drastically lowered with a supposed change of their bonus of +25% element to say +5% of an element, that would qualify as an example. It just shows that all the hard work in obtaining/scrolling/etc. ele wands/staves is for naught. Who wouldn't be mad in that case? Maybe Swordstaker is the only one who wouldn't.

I gotta backtrack and say that I slightly misunderstood the poster I quoted. I thought that she was referring to the elemental bonus on the wands/staves themselves possibly getting lowered, but I realize she meant the mage skills themselves. Nonetheless, it's same concept, though I wouldn't quit if ele weps remain untouched and the skills nerf is not severe.

Thats contradictory. Everyone here knows MapleStory will end one day, and so will our lives right? So wouldn't that just backfire on us too? We spend precious time and money in our lives just to die in the end. We spend precious time and money on MapleStory even though we all know it'll just close one day. Then theres contradictions there. I don't know that MapleStory will close. Who the hell knows NEXON might become so successful, completely turn around their act with customer service, make MS so compatible and just everything Jamie said making it perfect. For all we know NEXON could be the next Nintendo sooner than later and will never close. Life's one big what IF. But still shouldn't quit because of that. They would still have an upper hand even if they're nerfed.

Fiel Wrote:Rayhovite is certainly pretty good at spreading FUD if he's affected any of you. Let's look at reality, shall we?

- This blog was important. It stated that not everything that's coming with Big Bang will merge seamlessly into the GMS client. He's probably referring to Masteria and some World Tour areas which won't work right due to mob stats.

Consumers don't want excuses. The blog could have users sit down and read the exact coding the dev has to do to implement content integration between versions, but it won't change anything. It doesn't impress, and it certainly doesn't buy time with consumers.

- Last year, Aran was released on December 10 in GMS and led to a huge surge in popularity for Maplestory. Hitting high schoolers with new content just as they're going into christmas vacation is a powerful pull. It worked then, why wouldn't it work now?

I already told you directly, Fiel. Last year there was little in the name of gaming/MMO competition. In fact, it was a paltry release line up for December, so there wasn't too much awaiting anyone coming out for vacation. There were a ton of titles released in November 2009 that caused a surge in sales, but nothing majorly new in terms of content in Dec 09. That isn't the case for Dec 2010. I already outlined the release lists and comparisons in other threads. It may very well turn out that Big Bang gets a surge of popularity, but as I already pointed out, they missed a crucial revenue apex. It's the same apex most other companies strive to reach in the holiday season (late Oct/early Nov).

- The traditional KMST --> GMS time lag is between 5 - 7 months. This is at a much faster rate than in the past which was 9 - 11 months. GMS has already accelerated their development. Considering that the final Big Bang patch happened at the end of August, I'd say a promise "by the end of the year" is unusually fast for them. They want to get this update out as fast as we all want it. But until that time, they can release teasers about how they're going to make it all work for GMS. They could not complete this "months ago" because it takes a long time to assemble everything into our version.

That is true, for the current rate of employment they have and its current rate of development output. I already said they should have hired more programmers/staff at least part time to address this issue, especially since they know their own cycle and how big this update is. They've known for a long long time about this revamp. They should have adjusted for this. There is no excuse, just like they've known for years about 64-bit issues, and have taken forever to even acknowledge there is a problem. Inexcusable.

- I don't believe that they will be leaving the skills as they are currently - it really does need to be changed. As for mage ultimates, lemme ask you this - has there ever been a time in the past where NexAM didn't accept 100% of skill changes and updates from Korea? Mage ultimates are going to get a cooldown.

- Like things were last year, we can expect 2x weekends, a black friday sale, maybe a turkey event or two (lol - I can't recall a single year where the turkey event was good), and some cash shop surprises.

Uh oh! Turkey day! it's gonna suck people! You heard it here first! =D

Hmmhmm... Fiel is certainly pretty good at spreading FUD if he's affected any of you. Let's look at reality, shall we?

-V62 brought us the Pirates update. There may be more than just 'like things were last year'.

- The purpose of Tespia is not that we're doing the work that good ol' "incompetent" nexon should have done, it's that crowdsourcing the bug reporting gets them hundreds of bugs that Q&A can't always catch. With a codebase as large as Maplestory, this is not surprising. I would suggest unit testing, but I don't know how their code generation works. Even WoW uses a test server for bug reports - same as Maplestory.

I understand fully the purpose of testing for 'beta' content. What I'm pointing out is that it is ludicrous to expect a flock of gamers to do this in this particular season. In February when things are pretty dry, it's not a bad deal. Gives people's minds content to chew on while finding bugs. But in this time? When games/movies/gadgets are coming in by the droves? Again, for content that's too little too late for this year? I'm sure Tespia will still fill up, but personally, the thought would slap my forehead "Why am i beta testing [for free] when I could be playing Gran Turismo 5?"

- Considering how extractions are viewed by the community, these few months of lag will also give users time to prepare for Big Bang. Thanks to KMST's awesome unpacked EXE release, we all now can enjoy formulas we would have loved to have in our current version of Maplestory. This gives maplers a lot of power to be able to anticipate how much damage a mob is going to do, how to calculate hit rates and avoid rates, and generally how to use Maplestory's functions to their greatest advantage. I'm sure many of you have noticed more warriors are going dexless these days to prepare for Big Bang when accuracy will become much less of a stat, correct?

So rather than spending, users will be 'preparing' for Big Bang. I will not equate preparing with spending because we don't know what kind of resets we'll get. Why spend money on any reset now? It would be foolish. So that's out the window. "These few months of lag will give users time to prepare" is another way of saying "there ain't sh!t to do, man", and for that to be the case in such a crucial revenue window is inexcusable. I cannot stress this enough, Fiel!

Preparing mentally for Big Bang is also making hype drown away, and so the big oomph factor dwindles in the months to come. You assume people WANT to prepare for Big bang. Some people like to blackout on media and information. Waiting time simply dwindles hype as well. I don't think we want that either.

Also, it's kind of hard to prepare for an update if you have Vista/Win7 compatability problems, no? I don't have those problems but I feel bad for my fellow Maplers that can't even boss properly to get the gear they need to prepare for this update. You can't really prepare anyway... some classes will have new ways of mobbing/leveling. Can't really practice unless you have a KMS client.

- "Is it a mere coincidence that this blog appears a day after Blizzard releases a giant patch on schedule which revamps much of the WoW game?" <-- I'd say so. Cataclysm was revealed more than a year ago, and Big Bang only three months ago. GMS has a time lag of 5 - 7 months, so it seems that GMS is right on schedule and the same with Cataclysm. It only makes sense that they would be releasing teasers to get the rest of the community geared up for Big Bang and educate them on what simply won't make the cut.

Why would you release teasers AND tell people about cuts? That's just.....stupid. Tell people about cuts first and then give the hype. I don't think it's 'coincidence', and I'm remembering the time when E3 was coming and Nexon 'coincidentally' made the day a 12 hour 2x exp day, because they had nothing in terms of content that could drift people's minds away from E3's content. it sucked for me because I wanted to level, but I worked for a gaming company at the time and had to cover the E3 event. Had no time to level. Busy on the show floor talking to booth babes, checkin' out new games, encoding/uploading tons of videos, etc. Hyping Big Bang as that blog tries to do just as WoW's major patch comes into play seems deliberate. I could very well be wrong.

- "Maplestory was among the first successful MMOs, right?" <-- Well, no, not really. There were plenty of MUDs in the 90s, and no one can deny how powerful Evercrack was back then. Also, World of Warcraft was released while Maplestory was in beta for GMS, but it was released in Korea back in 2003.

Thank you for the correction on the one compliment I tried to give Nexon. :p

Nice try, chinchilla.

Wait a sec. You think dieing makes everything you did in life backfire on you? And you think I am the one being contradictory? My stance is that I value hard work, and I expect something in return for my hard work, and for it's value to not be taken away whether it be figuratively or literally. The work I put into this game is what I value, and I expect just rewards like most other people who play this game, and I expect those rewards to be given now or in the near future. I don't care what happens to maple far down the road. I know what is inevitable and what isn't.

Actually, I have a degree from UC Riverside in Economics, and have also been heavily trained in marketing and finance, and my past work experience in this spectrum adds to my resume. Smile

I claimed it would come soon along the assumption that Nexon knew its stuff and would not miss a good time to make bank. If I were running the company, this window would never be missed, ever. Otherwise heads would roll. Some companies fail and go bankrupt by missing these kinds of launch windows. It's pretty cut-throat, you know! I'm taking this well because I can enjoy my multiplayer gaming in other things while adding to my Mage here and there before the update. I can wait. Meantime I'll be jumping into Epic Mickey and working on my Call of Duty kill/death ratio.

To put it another way, if I were holding NVidia stock and they missed a crucial release window (such as they did with Fermi), you would see me rioting with rage and then selling my stock. But here it's just analysis. No strings attached. Analyzing how the company should run is a nice way to keep me on my toes when I have free time, don't you think?

And yes, I did say the update would come soon, because I anticipated as such. Here is how I saw it:

Late October update: Big Bang Part 1: skills revamp

Late November update: BB part 2: Resistance class

Mid December update: BB part 3: Mechanics

They could have potentially repeated the success they had with Arans if they kept this structure. Would have been quite lucrative. They could have hyped the hell out of the game and marketed it in time for late Oct/early November and really banked with the gamers, because it would have brought a lot of people back to the game, and with that, more NX.

I'll rescind my last sentence then lol.
