This has me confused. I was on at the moment he shut it down and I was wondering what was up. But the reason is that no one was using it? It was half full just yesterday. Not everyone is in the same time zone.

If it was the "drama" that had it shut down I have my suspicions as well. Last night I was trying to turn one of the community chests into a grass panel chest, but it wouldn't allow me to remove or place anything within the spawn area. Only zel could so it seems it was an admin only thing. Yet for the full day past there was a TNT block placed there in the same room. The "drama" was accusations back and forth of who was putting TNT all over the place griefing stuff, and honestly I don't know all of you well enough to judge, but as I said before, I have my suspicions.

That's a waste if it's down for good.

eh, cant say i blame him. i myself have been too busy to go on, and part of that is my horrendous lag issues. =/

I can't say I blame him for closing it down, but it sure is a shame. Is there any way for a server to be backed up so that things could be brought back if he decides to reopen the server? Because I really wouldn't want to lose all the hard work I put into exploring that continent, considering I had mined out like 1000 or so iron in my various travels.

Conversely, I believe there might be a way for you to disable TNT on the server Erich, which would at least make the griefing impossible.[/COLOR]

@Dual the server is backed up ask erich for a save and you can play it offline.

[COLOR="Green"]But what's the point of being rich in a backed up server with everyone's houses if nobody ever needs the things I find and there's no changes to the world other than my own? If I wanted that I'd just play singleplayer.

I'll still ask for a save of it, if Erich is willing to give me one, but it really won't be as fun without the rest of the group.[/COLOR]

Solution 2: Track the users that were given the IP of the server, compare it to when the griefing started.

I swear I didn't do it I'm a complete noob at the game and I don't even know how to really play D=.

I have found roughly 30 gunpowder from the 5 or so dungeons I found. It really is not as hard to get gunpowder as you guys seem to think. There are enough duping bugs to make even 1 gunpowder go a long ways.

There are anti-griefing mods: They disable the placement of fire, lava, and TNT. Llama's Mods, I think? I never looked much at server mods.

If thats true, then erich could just theoretically put into place the anti-TNT mod. there wasn't too much of an issue with fire bar that one forest. sure i set my own forests on fire, but they were near my homes and i used the wood i gathered from the trees to make that log cabin. yay guilty-conscience post.

I think the server mod is a package deal. Lava, TNT, and fire. All or nothing. That was the objection I heard when I first suggested it. The only issue I would have with it is making stuff with lava: It can make some really nice stuff if you do it right. My tunnel uses a lot of lava, and I doubt I would be able to talk a mod (who I believe can bypass the block? not sure) into placing a few hundred lava tiles for me.

Did Erich ever backup? I was rejected when I suggested a backup after my tunnel got hit the other day, but if things got worse he might reconsider.
