Who is/are your favorite anime character(s), and why?

My favorite anime characters would have to be... Yusuke Urameshi from "Yu Yu Hakusho" and Reid Hershel (or Rid Hershel) from "Tales of Eternia: The Animation".

Yusuke Urameshi because he reminds me a lot of myself, a teenage boy with a cocky and arrogant attitude, but he changes as the anime progresses and becomes more mature, and thinks things differently. Aside from the killing/slaying/beating demons kinda thing, you get the idea.

Then there's Reid Hershel, who is the main character in the video game Tales of Eternia, which was also made into a small mini-spinoff anime called "ToE: The animation". The main character was a hungry, kindhearted, and heroic person. A person that had unbelievably remarkable skills and strength, but even as the main character, he didn't want to be a "hero", he just wanted to live a happy life.

Let's see. I don't really have any favorites- not the type of person that can prioritize one thing over another, which is both good and bad, mostly the latter- so I'll just list some characters that I either liked to see, liked to hate, or liked to lol at.

A lot of characters from Nanoha. The titular character for beamspam, Fate for DMGness, Signum for Loveless... on and on. Most of the main characters from there I like.

Kokobu Karin, from Ai To Yuuki No Pig Girl Buurin. Why? She can turn into a pig (BA BI BU BE BOORIN!). With superpowers. If nothing else, I lol'd.

Hauenkua, from Utawarerumono - and drat, I had to google it to make sure I spelled that correctly >_>;; but anyways he's a great Ax Crazy guy that I liked to hate.

Satou, from Welcome to the NHK. Excellent hikikomori, and a ripe opportunity for black humour to develop. And develop it does.

Rika, from Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. NI~PA glomp~~~ and then it's time for ritual evisceration. <3

Uhmm not too sure really. I have A LOT... I can't decide which is my favorite anime after watching like mroe than 20 different anime but I'll name the main 1s.
Naruto: It definately have to be Deidara coz he can be funny yet serious at times and I enjoy how he fights with Tobi over simple matters =P.

One Piece: Roronara Zoro and Sanji. Zoro coz his fighting style is interesting and he can be funny when he loses his direction. Sanji coz his perverted nature is hilarious especially when he tries to woo Nami but fails.

Rurouni Kenshin: It'll have to be Yahiko, dont ask me why but I like it when he annoys Kaoru and gets beaten up =P.

Bleach: Rukia, she so hawt

Fullmetal Alchemist: Maes Hughes, he's funny when he annoys Mustang by nagging him to get a wife and is also funny when he brags about his aughter Elicia causing comic relief to those around him. (And yes, that is primarily the main reason why I pineapplng hate Envy as stated in the 'most hated anime character forum')

I'll just say pretty much all the main characters from the Nanoha series because they're just fcukwin. Nanoha is just an awesome all around character, despite being a rather strict mama and Fate is Fate and I can't really say anymore than that because I'll just keep going like the Energizer bunny.

Guchuko from Potemayo - tsundere moeblob that repays her debts with dead animals? And if she breaks something, she duct tapes it back together. What a good little girl.

Sugiura Midori from Mai-HiME - Likes to drink, insane history teacher, part of the "seventeen year old" club, and she fights for justice. [SPOILER=If you haven't seen past episode seventeen, you really shouldn't read this spoiler.]She's pretty much the only HiME to not go insane after her Child died, though she did kind of become a hikikomori. Her role may not have looked big compared to Mai, Mikoto, and Natsuki, or even Mashiro-hime and Fumi, but she actually held a lot of knowledge for the other kiddies.

AND SHE FOUGHT FUMI, EVEN IF SHE PROBABLY LOST. And I have a thing for Super Sentai parodies and since Midori just loves fighting for justice....

Fredrica Bernkastel - When They Cry series
At first, she's the mysterious person at the beginning of each chapter in the sound novels that has a poem that summarizes the chapter. The poem makes sense as you read on and she's referred to The Frog Prince and Schrödinger's cat. +1 for that.
[SPOILER=Major Saikoroshi-hen spoilers and this will be animated in the upcoming Rei OVAs - three episodes long, so don't read this either if you don't want to be spoiled, ololol.]She's the personality that takes over Furude Rika - what most would probably call "Dark Rika", though I'm fairly certain we haven't seen the real Furude Rika in a while. The real Furude Rika seems like a normal adolescent, but she seems to have used those two younger boys that liked Rika and Satoko in the show, making the other children in the class dislike her. This could have been just in the "Saikoroshi-hen world" because that world was a world where no one had sinned, completely changing everything.

Bern's also been trying to figure out how to escape the whole Takano Miyo deal for over one hundred years now. Kukuku, no wonder she nearly gave up.

It's really sad how she was never close to her mother because she knew that she had to die in order for the Oyashiro-sama curse to appear and then in this world.... ;<

 In Umineko no Naku Koro ni.... and yes, this is going to be animated as well....

She's a witch who has been fighting with Lambadelta and won, making her the "strongest witch", in which Bern disagrees with that title. There's also a reference where, when she was once a human, that she's said "faitoo" and "nipaa", wink wink nudge nudge.

She's trying to help you out, really, despite how much of a mindfcuk Umineko has been so far, just as long as you don't bore her.

It's cute how boredom is the only poison that can kill her.

Takeru from Digimon Adventure (and 02). I liked him when I first watched Digimon while it was aired on tv, and even more now as I watch the subbed ones. I can't pinpoint exactly why as he's just an awesome character overall, but one part of it may be my admiration of his deep love for Hikari (another character on the show, to point out the obvious).

I also like L from Death Note, because of the curious way he acts and his intelligence, but I'm not sure I would say that he's my favorite.

Shin'ichi Kudo from Detective Conan. He has insane soccer skills, A girl who'll wait for him, insane smarts AND gets to relive his childhood while trying to thwart a super secret organization. Oh yeah, Did I mention he's rich?

Tsukasa Nishino from Ichigo 100%, she is sooooooooooooooooooo lovely. (Junpei Manaka also has credit here).

Ichitaka Seto from I''S, he is such an awesome developed character. And I love Katsura's stories.

Ai Amano from Video Girl Ai. She made me cry when she gave up everything for Moteuchi... However, I feel sad for Moemi... she changed so much for him... w/e.

Oh, I forgot. My favourite anime character: Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.
