Without the UI always being in immediate view, it would be too much of a hassle. Constantly having to look to the side to know what your HP and Stamina are as well as how many potions, spears, chains, etc. you have would be way too annoying and distracting.

I guess you just have to experience it for yourself.

Maybe the Time Temple maps? Other than that, no, 3000 pixels is a lot wider than you think it is.
