i'm liking this too and so far, it's pretty good. very fast, the minimalistic design is surprisingly appealing to me (though i miss my FF3 theme) and i like the whole idea behind this browser.
i read the comic and i liked what it said about multi-processing and all, and again, it's pretty fast.

You can choose for it to be your main browser but it doesn't have to be. I have both Firefox and Chrome. FF is still my main.
Edit ~ The one thing that bothers me a little are where the buttons are and the fact I can't use my mouse wheel to scroll.

I love it so far, but I do miss Adblock (which was a godsend in Firefox), not used to seeing so many ads.

Adblock is nice but viewing those ads help keep southperry alive
Chrome is lightning fast. I've tried Safari before (another webkit-based browser) and it was good, but not noticeably better. Chrome just screams. I didn't expect it.

I find Chrome slower than Firefox.
Maybe it doesn't work as well with Vista, or something.

I tried it briefly and I didn't notice any difference in speed compared to Firefox. Also, I am very surprised that they don't have google as the default homepage and a default google toolbar. My first impression of it is not that great. The design is not very comfortable nor helpful to me and sort of strange. Maybe it'll get better when I look more into it but that'll be another day.

Gmail? That's ironic.

I dislike the fact that it's set up like IE8. Who's idea was it in the first place to (re)move the task menu? Other than that, it's actually pretty good.

Yeah, Incognito Mode is most definitely for porn/drug researching.
I literally just downloaded it and the first website I visited was Facebook and it didn't work too well with the new format, but I guess I'll use it for a bit more before I make any "rash" decisions about changing from Firefox.
One thing that annoys me is that with Firefox I made lots of clickable-bookmarks on the toolbars that I used to get to all my favorites--SP, FB, what, demonoid, Gmail, etc. It is not present for Chrome.
EDIT:
It is lightning fast, though.

Google is at least the default search engine. I think Google went a step too far in its implementation of the new homepage. I happen to like my iGoogle homepage thank you very much.
To change your homepage:
-Click on the wrench in the upper right corner
-Click on options
-You can select from there what to set your homepage

The task menu really isn't needed. In most other browsers, anything you could do on the taskbar could also be done from the navbar.

I imported all of my browsing history and links from Firefox. All of the bookmarks and browsing history now matches what my Firefox browser had and I'm grateful for that.
To show the Bookmarks toolbar, click on the wrench in the upper right corner and choose "Always show Bookmarks Bar". Alternatively, press CTRL + B.

I finally got a chance to give it a try. I'm quite impressed. Sites that used to choke, like Google Maps (in a full browser window at 1680x1050), run a lot smoother.
I've also tried some Javascript-heavy sites not related to Google and saw a difference in loading time. Slashdot, for example, loads faster in Chrome than it does in Firefox.
Also, the way that it imports my bookmarks from Firefox is impressive. Even kept my Bookmarks Toolbar intact. Just needs Live Bookmarks now...
I just wish there was a way to tweak the looks some more, the blue tab bar at the top really doesn't match the rest of my system.

Well, it passed Acid2 so yay to that. Doesn't pass Acid3 but does any browser yet?
Still, I see no reason to stop using Firefox.

IGN: I don't play MS

(This post was last modified: 2008-09-03, 01:33 AM by Dusk.)
Things I liked:
- Fast
- Minimalistic design
- Seperate processes in each tab
- Not buggy as my Firefox 3 was at first glance
- Incognito, even though I haven't used it yet.
- Open source, although I probably won't be doing much with it.
Things I didn't like:
- History and Download page. I prefer Firefox 3's little download manager to a random search page. Those pages are not as handy as built-in stuff. I like the history bar on the side.
- Options are tucked off to a corner to kind of "dumb it down," a la IE. An inconspicuous, hide-able toolbar is just fine for those of us who are going to be playing with the advanced options more often.
- Omnibar. Ctrl-L and Ctrl-K to choose whether I want to search or go to a location feels a lot more natural than the omnibar. And I swear Firefox 3's smart location bar finds what I want much more often than Chrome's.
- Home page. Pretty pineappleing useless; I have a bookmark toolbar already.
- Few add-ons at the moment.
I've had enough of Chrome, I'll stick to using Firefox for now. Maybe it's because I'm used to it, maybe i'm biased, but Chrome isn't very comfortable right now. It's the most user-friendly, easy-to-learn, and still useful browser I've tried other than Firefox (eww Safari + IE, and Opera has way too many damn features), I'll give it that much.
