The Rebirth of Maple World! (big bang)

Why do so many people not want the BB patch? It seems to me to be the best thing that has ever happened to MapleStory.

From what I've seen I think everything is way to overpowered. It'd be fine to get better attacks and such but without high level content to go with it it's kinda unneccasary in my opinion. Furthermore all the levels I made pre big bang have kind of devalued now, since it's supposedly easier to level. I mean killing pap in 10 seconds? DO NOT WANT . Plus Corsairs get only passive dps improving skills (the worst kind of skills).

I don't see why people feel that their levels have devalued due to Big Bang. Anything and everything you have done up to now in your life, including time spent on Maplestory, is a sunk cost. It's not coming back. Almost no amount of foresight could have prepared you for the fact that they would eventually be reducing rates by almost 80% and redesigning the whole game. Any sunk cost is irrelevant to future decision making.

Time spent having fun is never time wasted. Did you have fun getting all of those levels? If so, then you have lost nothing. If not, then why the hell are you playing a game you don't like?

I just don't see the logic here. Please point out where I'm wrong.

I'm going to suggest one of those generic Maple IGN-type names:

NexonNA is being stupid again. just name it big bang. first they change pirate class name, then cygnus, now big bang?

Pirate names where so much better in GMS compared to KMS that it aint even much to talk about. We have pirate names, they have a gunslinger job named after a norse taker of fallen warrior souls. It's a pirate, not a viking. Viper? Tho it is a fighter with snake fast fists, it is not like they use bloody asian martial arts. *End rant*
Big bang is ok, not great. If Nexon wants to involve the community in comming up with a better one, what's the problem?

and they're not going to wait months to release it after having announced it. If you announce something and sit on it, the hype dies out, people lose interest, and you miss out on maximizing revenue as a result.

And as I said, it'd be business suicide to launch the Big Bang AFTER WoW does theirs.

And since this patch is going to be the summation of various fixes and insight over the years, they should call it Maplestory: Echoes of Luminance.

They must have ninja translators or something.

Well, the first part of it doesn't even need much translating, but still, there are several things such as new skill strings which need to be translated, without counting the localization part, which is the hardest one.

-CHRISTMAS <--- would be an epic "present" from Nexon America and would fit logically since the biggest content boosts seem to come near winter vacation (look at 4th job).

I believe the main reason people don't want BB is because it changes so many aspects of the game we're used to. Hell i'm still bitching over the drop table/monster spawn changes since I have to spend extra time looking for x monster for x quest since it's no longer at x map. Give it a week or two and all the mass QQing should die down.

This, and even more so due to the fact that the rates aren't as ridiculous as many are making them out to be. I don't have the link, but during the KMST patches and chaos this past summer, there was a thread Paul here commented on that showed a 19x Hero training at Oblivion 4. IIRC, when her soloing rate was calculated and compared to current GMS soloing rates, it was something like taking 51 hours to go from 191 to 192 on 1x, as opposed to the 70ish it is now. tl;dr: while it's easier, it's not broken.

That being said, I hope they remove 2x cards in GMS with the release of this patch. Clearly that won't happen, though, so yes, leveling will be a tad more broken here than in KMS.
