Anyone here have Minecraft?

Ive been curious about this game for the past few days. People keep talking about it on Reddit like its some sort of amazing game, and I was just wondering if any Southperricans have played it.

Team Fortress 2 Minecraft is so much better =D.

I bought the game the other week. Once SMP is fully functioning, it will be awesome. I fully support the movement for a SouthPerry server, once this happens.

I've recently been playing minecraft. It's a pretty cool game and I have a lot of fun with it. I mostly play Alpha and building mode multiplayer.

If you haven't played the game, here's an example of what a map can look like. I built on it, but i didn't alter the natural map too much aside from mining trees. The map generator can make some really awesome stuff and it's fun to just wander and see what you can find. The maps also get bigger as you explore past your current boundaries.

Team Fortress 2 Minecraft is so much better =D.

I dont know how the game works, but if you can create maps and save them... you can probably just convert to tf2s map format (I forget what its called...I used to know)

I guess you could do it the hard way and import all their skins and junk <<

I got Minecraft yesterday. I have a server up on my computer, but I haven't really tested it. I just used it to play with my brother, who's ten feet away. If you want, I can PM you the ip, and we can try it out.

You have to pay, unless you want classic. And it's worth paying for. Especially right now because it's still in Alpha so it's 50% off. It's 12.99 USD iirc.

You pay 10 Euros - Google the USD equivalent - and get the game forever. You can download it all you want. You could even share the DL files with friends, but you have to log in to use the game at all, so unless you're into account sharing they'll have to buy their own accounts.

I use the Playstuff.net server. It's actually a dedi, and both playstuff and my friends from TF2M use it. We can use it for southperry stuff, and build our own SMP empire somewhere. All I can say is... register on playstuff, put your minecraft ID in the ID thread, and i'll go prod DJive when he gets on to update the server list. We got grieved a while back, so not everyone can enter it anymore. You gotta be on that list. xd. But it's safe.

I got on this list, but I still get "kicked by admin" when I try to log in.

Only played the free version up til now since even though it isn't too much, and I'm sure I might enjoy it, I'm afraid of how life sucking it may become.

Anyone know how to start a free server using one of your computer saved maps from classic mode? If I had help finishing the town I had started to make, I might consider going further into this.

Also, how fun is the current survival mode? I played it for a few minutes when I first found out about the game and it was free, but it did not have the inventory as it does now. I wandered off one direction and died within a minute or two. The railways and new water implemented is what has me most curious of the current pay version.


I still say someone should try to make that stone island castle from Suikoden 1 in this. Not sure why, but it just feels like it would fit just right.

As much as I want to play this I'm terrified because it looks like one of those games that eats your life and consumes your free time.
