Obama Wants to Spend 50 Billion to Rebuilt Infrastructure

You're still faced with the energy problem of moving 60-70kg of mass out of the Earth's gravity well. Even if it became completely efficient it's not a trivial task and the fuel has to come from somewhere.

Of course it costs over a million dollars to put one person in to space. But doesn't the marginal cost decrease past one person?

I'm sure developing new technologies would lower the cost more than massproduction. If we were to aim for exploration and relocation, sending a remote-control robot into space would be more cost effective.

If we ever run out of resources, we could always use the dead bodies as food or fuel
