Infinity

There seems to be a general misunderstanding of how this skill works post-BB, so I'll explain it here.

Skill description:
MP 50 소비, 4초마다 HP와 MP 10%씩 회복, 4초마다 모든 공격 마법의 피해 10%씩 증가, 40초간 지속
"MP cost 50; every 4 seconds, recover 10% hp/mp, damage increase by 10%, for 40 seconds, cooldown: 140 seconds"

The damage increase is what's important here. Contrary to what you might believe, the damage increase is not a fixed 10% throughout the 44 second duration of the buff. For the first 4 seconds, Infinity does nothing. Then, every time you recover hp and mp, your damage also increases by 10%, additively. This results in your damage rising in a slow crescendo over 40 seconds, finally peaking at +100% damage for the last 4 seconds of the buff. That is to say, when the Infinity icon is completely greyed out and flashing, you will be doing double damage. That is why you see Bishops doing consistent 300ks and then a little later, 700ks.

Magic Mastery has an odd effect on Infinity. It extends each buff period, changing all the 4 second durations to 6 seconds. Infinity will last 66 seconds, doing nothing for the first 6 seconds and slowly adding 10% damage every 6 seconds until your damage peaks at double for the last 6 seconds. I do not know what it does to the HP/MP recovery times.

Oh, and the buff can be dispelled.

Hopefully that'll clear up some of the wtp CL HITS DAMAGE CAP concerns.

Wow I didn't know that. Pretty neat.

Not likely, Pap drops 20 like candy and Zak mastery books usually aren't worth all that much.

Oh! Thanks a ton, I had been wondering about that : )
Cooldown decreased lots too, so it's actually pretty nice now Shine

How sure of you that the initial 40 second duration is buffed to 66 seconds with max Magic Mastery? The way I read the skills, the skill duration is buffed to 60 seconds. To compensate (and this is something else I believe you may be incorrect about, though if you show proper evidence to the contrary my contention is moot), the skill initially holds a +10% damage buff immediately, which then additively stacks every 4 seconds to +100% at the end:

With max Magic Mastery, the table would appear as follows, with intervals extended to 6 seconds to match the +50% increased buff duration of one minute:

 Spoiler

Again, I could be completely wrong, but reading the skills literally and applying the concepts throughout, the above tables make more sense than some skill lasting for 66 seconds when, with its duration multiplied by 1.5, it should only last for 60.

Not entirely sure, but I remember seeing a few videos where a mage casted Infinity and it timed out exactly 66 seconds later. It may have been due to lag. I'll try to dig one up.

This is the way I thought it works:

 Spoiler

Which is effectively a 60 second buff, just delayed by 6 seconds.

Here's the first video I could find with Google:

Infinity is casted at 0:01, and the buff doesn't disappear from the top right corner of the screen until 1:06.

The 40 second duration is increased to 60 seconds, but the 4 second interval remains. This would give you +150% damage.

I think this is unlikely. I haven't seen any increases in damage that match that large of a damage boost. In the above video, the highest non-crit hits at the beginning seem to be around 130k, and the highest non-crit hits at the end are around 260k.

Any idea how it will work with Combat Orders? At level 32 this is the description:

"MP cost 50; every 4 seconds, recover 11% hp/mp, damage increase by 11%, for 42 seconds, cooldown: 140 seconds"

Will it then be:

 Spoiler

And with Magic Mastery:

 Spoiler

Or something else? Because if this is true (or 0-4 with 0% damage, lasting till 46 seconds and 0-6 with 0% damage, lasting till 69 seconds) it seems pretty damn strong with CO on.
