Question about Beholder's Revenge (Post-BB patch DrK skill)
#1
I was just looking through the BB extractions just now.....and I have one question in regards to the Beholder's Revenge skill:

How does this skill work? Does it act like hex/aura (gives you effects passively within a set time frame) or is it something else that I don't know about?

As I have come to understand it, Beholder just attacks monsters.

It throws a brick at the mob that hits you at given-% of your damage range. I'm not sure how PDDamage/PDRate come into play, but that's the general idea.

Oh, so its an active summon that attacks other monsters. How interesting....lol. I thought there was a possibility that it could be an active summon, but didn't think it would be like that. =O

Now I can imagine the little Beholder orb going ragefest at anything near it. Oh the joy. xD

Though...is it really that useful?

No, it's just a fun little bastard to have around (you need it active to get the mastery buff anyway), the damage is negligibly insignificant.

At max level, it attacks at 700% damage every four seconds. I am not sure how that affects DPS though.

Not sure in terms of DPS myself either at the moment but...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulN-ukpyL3g Look carefully, this guy's Beholder does 90k-100ks.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KCytvFgOWA This one, if you look carefully at the bottom right of the screen at around 1:47 ~ 1:49, you'll see it did 105k

Just looked at the videos, thanks for linking those to me. xD

From what I saw, it looks pretty fun.

And ty for everyone that helped me out. I might consider getting it after MW, if BB comes in a few months. xD

How the hell is 700% damage per mob insignificant?

DPS-wise, probably not much impact (if you think about it, at max, it only casts 15 times/minute). By the time you are dealing some big damages with Beholder's Revenge, you're outdamaging it by a long shot with your normal attacking skills.

You're the only warrior class with a summon. It does significant DPS just because of that fact. Assuming it casts 15 times a minute (how do you know it does, by the way?) that's 10.5k% per minute on a single target that most other classes can't beat with their summons because, oh wait, they don't have one.

What if beholder hits multiple zak arms or HT parts? Would it be insignificant then?

Not confirmed to hit multiple monsters. I saw in the video that it can only a single target.

And how did I come to the conclusion about its attack rate? It attacks every 4 seconds at max (level 10), 1 min = 60 seconds. xD

The video above isn't exactly very revealing about how it works, but i remember it being able to hit 4 targets. I don't remember any change to revenge, like, ever, so... o.o

I see a 5 at max, so assuming that's seconds it would attack 12 times. o.o 4 with CO, though.

Still 700% to even one target is a hefty amount of damage on top of what you're already doing.

Unless they changed it you get the mastery boost as soon as you put points into the skill.

That's how it WAS. You need it active to get the mastery boost now.

It does about 10% of the damage you do. I don't think that's insignificant.

Which is why I said at the start of my post unless they changed it. I stopped caring about skill changes after the 100th time.

For a class with a fairly consistent #HKO, Revenge isn't particularly useful in training. It's more of a bossing thing really.

I've watched a lot of post-BB Dark Knight videos and have never seen Revenge hit more than one monster. It also looks like it requires you to get hit for it to activate, which I suppose shouldn't be a problem outside of Bigfoot.

I'd like to know how it works with Super W.Def ("Weapon Cancel"), Damage Reflect, and Mounts. I'd also like to know if the character or Beholder has to be in a specific range of the monster for it to activate (e.g. If HT's Middle Head's flame attack hits me while I'm on the ground, will Revenge activate?).

Indeed it is a nice touch to have, just not something to put too much expectations in. Considering its use, I wouldn't start maxing it until late 15x.
- 700%/5 = 140%
- 690%*1.6*(1000/720) = 1533.3%

With Arcglaive/PSB it pales even more in contribution.
