Maple FPS - kMS vs gMS (OMFG)
#1
Ever since I play kMS, everytime I come to gMS for random stuff, I have this weird feeling of... OMG what is this crappy lag in gMS?!?!

So I decided to do a little comparision... and omg... this is really hilarious... gMS -REALLY- needs to improve their core engine coding...

I walked 3 times the same route, so the graphic is corresponding on the same points, and I didn't change any graphic settings.

Enjoy:

So yeah folks, for those who lag all the time while playing gMS... no it's not your PC... it's Nexon America... :/

P.S. See the gaps in the gMS FPS every xx seconds, where the FPS goes even below 60 (=LCD Screen minimum FPS)? Yes, that's why its near impossible to do jump quests anymore... There is a random FPS schredder working in gMS... it just... happens... even if you stand still... :')

Uhhmmm... yeah now you mention it it does feel different between KMS and GMS, Even though it takes me longer to loot and to pot, or to change map on KMS because of my connection and distance from the sever, it is smoother on general game play.

I had a suspicion there would be something like this. Here's to hoping it gets fixed sometime soon.

Nexon can't fix a simple problem like this enhancement exploit and new meso exploit thats running wild. Why would they care about some FPS lag people have? It's like they can't see the constant 30 star or 50 star weapons that are being scrolled in front of their eyes.

Making something client sided be server sided is not really possible overnight. There's a reason it took them so long to fix no delay.

Although your post doesn't really have anything to do with the topic at hand, so i suggest you stop posting.

KMS has the Windows Vista/7 client. It wouldn't shock me if something like that would be a huge difference.

KMS doesn't have the alleged 15 second lag spike that NexonAM has admitted to being a solvable problem.

Expected, since KMS being the core development for MapleStory.

Whereas for other localized MapleStory versions, it's more or less a copy paste of codes from existing ones without checking.

If the clients are all the same, how come I never experience any lags with JMS? (except at 2 to 3 AM local time where the game is glitchy)

Lag have been a big mystery since the dawn of time. Server status, client OS, client background programs, client graphic/sound card, client CPU/memory, connection speed and distance, and the program itself all intertwine with one other making analysis impossible.

I think the obvious reason why GMS lags more than KMS or JMS is because people from all over the world is accessing the same servers located in Los Angeles.

The client's aren't all the same. Though all the clients (except for KMS) are only compatible with XP, each branch has done their own thing to the client to suit the needs of their region. GMS is probably one of the most hacker infested version out of all of the versions, so in response, Nexon America probably has to do some pretty hackish workarounds to get those hacks patched.

I could've sworn this is due to the distance to the servers.

This has zero effect on fps, unless you're talking about dc-hacker levels of spam. It's not like it waits for the server to update to render a new frame.

When I'm using FRAPS, these 15 second lag spikes last a little over half a second each. That is, the game is temporarily dropping to 2 FPS...

Can't be. How could something client-sided be affected by server-lag? Your browser doesn't freeze if google goes down.

How's the hacking in Korea? Is it as prominent as GMS?

Also, what are the specs on your compy?

Korea has a serious botting problem. Kerning Square CDs was filled with botters when I went there last during off-peak hours[~1 week ago]. Thats why they have all of the captchas, but they really don't ease the problem. I stopped seeing botters once I started training around Ariant [Lv77], though. They must get dealt with pretty quickly.

Besides from versions that encourage hackers / ignore them (CMS and TMS), most other versions are substantially less hacker-infested then GMS. Maybe BMS might be the only thing that can border that. JMS has literally less then a half of a percent of hackers. Even less, now that there are 5 different IP checks (hackshield bootup, login, character select, cash shop, MTS) and hackshield detects every VPN and proxy program under the sun.

Goddamn dude. I asked how the hacking was in Korea and you still go on about how JMS is superior - not even related to the question. Isn't the message getting old?

I'm not saying it like that; i'm saying if they really didn't have any other options they should just go that same route. It's almost completely un-breachable.

Do explain how an IP check would work in the Global version.
