My final thoughts on everything Scott Pilgrim:
#1
[COLOR="Red"]So, I have read the books, watched the movie, played the game, and listened to the soundtrack. Here are my thoughts:

Books- They were generally okay. I don't think they deserved such high praise given to them. Sure, they were funny in some parts, but mostly I was just waiting for everything to be over all ready. Scott also seems like a total ding dong. He manages to do nothing right, yet get all the best women. I dunno, he never struck me as the hero in any of the books. Also, why was there so much gayness in the books? Was that necessary. Wallace was okay, since he was comic relief. But Stephen turning gay at the end? Really? Was that necessary in the least bit? At all? I'm not against gays, but still. Supersaturation has a point.

Movie- Fantastic. This was well done. The characters seems well played by their respective people, save for possibly Mr. Cera. His fight scenes and "SRS BUSINESS" face was just so misplaced on him. It's probably from seeing him in so many movies where he just plays an really awkward teen. I thought Julie was amazing in the film. It didn't deviate too much from the books, save for time constraints. They never really did go into Gideon being in Ramona's brain and the story behind that. I thought there would be more at the end. I am disappoint. Not only at that, but the lack of money it made. It did seem really, really fast paced in the beginning, and that kind of threw me off for a bit.

Game- The top of the list. It's great. Hands down. Everything in it makes me giggle with delight. I love playing with Kim Pines. I haven't finished it yet, but still. The frantic, "DUDE, REZ!" while fighting Todd Ingram was great.

Soundtrack- Tied with the game. Just wished it also had the actor version of Black Sheep. I like Brie Larson's voice more than the Metric lady's of whose name I'm forgetting right now...

I wish the books were longer. I wasn't satisfied with how it ended.. The movie: Cera's too shy to be Scott. Everything else was amazing.

I'm going to come across as an overzealous fanboy, but that's okay.
  • Who the hell else from Hollywood would play Scott? Y'all need to get over the Michael Cera thing, he did a perfectly acceptable job. Sure, I know there's some unknown out there who could do better, but this is Hollywood and the movie needed a headliner I'm afraid.
  • Julie was amazing. pineapple yeah.
  • Of course Scott seems like a total ding dong. He is a ding dong. He's not a hero, he's a ding dong thrust in to a ridiculous situation that could only happen if real life worked like a video game.
  • There was lots of gayness. But I do not see the problem there. There was Wallace and Joseph. Understandably, Wallace had his handful of boyfriends and miscellaneous gay friends. Stephen going gay was unnecessary, if you want to call it that. But I thought it was hilarious (more because of Joseph) and helped pull me out of the Scott/Ramona stuff at the end and leave me with a little sense that there is more going on in the land of Canada.
