Halloween 2010

I've been griping for a long time about how lacking maple is when it comes to seasonal events, and I've had a ton of ideas that haven't really seemed plausible... until now. The Visitor's have introduced some features that fit perfectly with what I'd love to see this Halloween. It's obviously doubtful Nexon will take any ideas pitched, but you all know how I love to write this sort of thing. The following events would be together, not sequential. Just separate ideas.

Event #1: Night Fall...

At 4:00 pm PST (7:00 EST) the sun in the maple world will set, darkening the skies. Ghosts and ghouls will come out to play and can drop a variety of delicious treats that can be traded in for Halloween prizes. Sun will rise at 5:00 am PST (8:00 am EST).

This allows for players on the other side of the world to take part in much of the event as well. A lot of players are at school during the day anyway, it's not really necessary to have events any time before 3:00 pm in any time zone.

Event #2: Hide and Ghoul Seek

This would be an event map that is partially a JQ but contains lots of long platforms that will require you to hide from zombies. This would be most akin to the Agent event with the Hogul, however timing would be dependent on the bushes (or tombstones!) rather than them disappearing and reappearing.



That's it for now but the main thing I've always wanted to see in Maple during seasonal events is atmosphere. The Haunted Mansion has it but it's so limited to that area that it's kind of lost. I would love Nexon if they'd take some time to dress Chief Stan up like a vampire or Maya up like a witch. Throw some banners up, Nexon. Add some pumpkins! Make it fun

what kind of stuff would you guys like to see Nexon add this Halloween? Even if it's out of the bounds of possibility; it's so much fun to dream.

I like the Night Fall idea.

They should also make some NPCs "dress up" during Night Fall, like you mentioned.

Cursed exp events. Spend too much time training and you turn into a zombie for half an hour. At which point your player becomes a miniboss, and other players can attack you. If they kill you, they get exp equivalent to 5% of your levelup, and you lose nothing. While you're a zombie, you gain exp based on the damage you do to other players. (damage is cut to 1/20 of normal damage, but you get 1 exp per damage) If you manage to kill another player as a zombie, you gain the exp they lost.


Trick or Treat, mob style. Collect more candy based on the number of different monsters you manage to kill, regardless how many of each (1 is enough).

I was a little serious about my comment. I would like to see the Haunted House revealed even more.

Thisthisthisthis. It's boring looking at the same NPCs all year, then having them not dress up for halloween.

I like what they did with the Slimes that one year, with the Santa hats. (Have they done that every Christmas? I forgot) They should do the same with Halloween.

talking about this earlier i was thinking something like the very first halloween event, where monsters came that couldn't hurt you were all over. Have them come out at night and get some quests for them. There are a lot more options now for those monsters too, not just Malady and zombies. Skeletons from Sharenian, zombie/skeleton in the Mansion, the mummies from Pyramid...

Maybe also an instanced boss you could beat with 2-3 people accessed via the dimensional mirror so we don't have to count on them adding an NPC to our hometown, possibly summoned via the items dropped from the monsters in town. I really don't want to be stuck with more events that require me to come back to henesys every day. On the other hand, there needs to be something left over after the event. New maps, monsters, etc. Even if it's only a few like HH2.

Something else that might be cool is another run in with the MBI (Remember Agent Falcon and his accursed Smores quest?), especially if it turned out to be like an X-Files type parody. Might be interesting. No aliens though, i'm sure after this event we'll be burned out (Gaga's abduction and the visitors in 3 months of each other?)

adding on to this, something that we saw in stage 2 was the appearance of new npc's that you have to protect. it would be neat if they made some special halloween npc's that only appeared at night time, some only in the day time and were placed on maps all over, and they all give different quests, mostly small time. but just give people a reason to explore again while taking advantage of new features.

I'd like to see more Jonas and Sophilia storyline this Halloween, maybe with an happy ending for the story, too.

I'm not talking about a s'hitty storyline like that of the last Halloween, but I'm talking like a REALLY good storyline like the one we got on the first release of the Haunted House.

Also, I'm quoting Isaac about the more MBI stuff. I really liked it, even if the Smore quest was a real pain in the ass for those who couldn't participate in the event back then.

The return of the NX-Costume Party Mansion could be a possibility.

Make it a true Halloween. For the entire day all Maplers are teleported to Omega Sector.

There is one exit, and it's at the very top of Eos Tower.

The entire tower has been reworked to be a JQ 100 stories tall.

At the top is Sarah in Halloween form, hurling Nexon employees down at any adventurer that would be daring to near the last 10 floors of the JQ.

Why throw Nexon employees? Because none of them listened to her ideas. She took Halloween, and its events, into her own hands.

Any adventurer struck by the corpse of a long-dead Nexon employee would instantly burst into a sack of mesos, tempting all Maplers to chase the falling mesos instead of exiting the hell known as Omega Sector.

Sarah then summons Pink Bean and eats it whole as a sign of terror that not even a cute pink b@stard can stand in her way of vengeance against the world.

Then Fiel appears, goes Bankai, and fights her in an epic battle to the death.

But not even Fiel can withstand the power of Sarah, fueled by an embittered heart. He is punched so hard he bursts into data and is quickly recycled into old content.

They should do some sort of Haunted House. Not like in NLC, but like when you walk in, it's a harder maze than Twisted Forest BF maps, and along the way you can get candy and kill various monsters/bosses. Person with best time gets a free Charizard pet F5.

Whatever the Halloween even is, it better be awesome. I'm tired of getting gypped on my birthday. >.>

Have you logged on at all in 0.89? They changed the background of every map in Victoria...
