Some questions about the process to get an account back.

So about half an hour ago, I tried to log into my account to find that the password no longer worked. This was odd as I had successfully logged into the account on the previous day (although I didn't use any of my characters once I realized that the patch was delayed). Fearing that I was hacked after seeing that thread in the General section, I went to reset the password. (A quick check on rankings showed me that none of my characters were stripped though.)

Stupid move. I don't remember the email that I used to register for the account. (Well, I thought I did, but a frantic password changing process on the email that I thought I used to sign up with resulted in me finding out that email wasn't mine in the first place, as the email that was linked to that email went to a site that I didn't recognize. Or that email had been hijacked, which I don't think is possible since I never used the email again after registering for a Nexon account.)

So I searched the forum here, found something about a PayByCash trick to find your email account (which I assume they have fixed by now and/or only works if you can get into your Nexon account in the first place), and found a link to a form on the Nexon site to change your e-mail. I've since filled out the form and am waiting for a response.

How long does it take for them to respond to an e-mail change request, is there another way to go about finding out which email I used, and/or am I basically screwed?

EDIT: I got it back. I didn't remember what email it was, although I did remember that all of my email accounts were linked in some way. Thank god for Yahoo being able to email you the names of your linked email accounts if you forgot them.

You're basically screwed. As far as I know, they don't reply to those email changes unless you have access to your account, if at all. A better solution to all of this would be if they made the password actually temporary and expire if you don't accept an email verification after a certain period.

I submitted mine on May 27th, it was changed 3 days ago. My best advice is to go on a mule account, do a ticket every month asking about it. Eventually they get the hint.

Bad move indeed, should've checked what your email was before requesting reset. Worst case scenario, you could've resorted to stalking + DC hacking all/any character on your account that might happen to be on while you work things out the right way.

I don't know if Nexon will approve of your email change request, as it is pretty much entirely your fault and not theirs (until they come clean admitting the hacking's responsibility).
The only thing I can think of is hijacking a PW reset request but I don't even have the slightest idea if that is possible. This thing, if existent, should work the same way hijacking a PIC reset request did, through the use of HTTP headers.

Yeah, figured as much.

Ah well, it's not like I can't rebuild. The most valuable things on that account that I know I can't retrieve are two Critical Rings and about 100 mil worth of stuff, which isn't much, and a lot of it's going to be rendered almost insignificant after Big Bang. Of course, people have lost far more.

Essentially the same thing happened to me. As long as you have the information you're fine. You have to recover the Email though TS. Or it'll be a problem

Threadstarter, I assume you did discover what email it was and you don't have access to it?

Nope, I don't remember which email I used to register. Unless I can magically remember (which I should be able to eventually, I created the account earlier this year), it looks like I'm screwed. Thanks anyways, guys.

(Shouldn't take me that long to recover from this though. I have a couple 5x characters on a different account...)
