Nexon has no obligation to cut their profits because they already have made a lot of money.

Again, it's like Cyanne said. They aren't charging you $19.50 for Pam's Song or "monopoly money" as you put it, they are charging you 19,500NX for Pam's Song and then they are charging you $19.50 for the NX that you will use to buy the Pam's Song, if that's your choice. You should know before hand that you are exchanging your $19.50 for virtual currency that holds no actual value.

There are any number of things in the real world which you pay for and cannot trade for real money afterwards. The closest to NX cash is gift certificates, although I'm not sure what the laws are regarding those in your jurisdiction. Where I live, most stores will not give you money for them.

There are also any number of things in the real world that you pay for and get nothing tangible in return: all manner of entry or participation fees, such as to the movies, concerts, ballgames, museums, guided tours, cruises, amusements parks, and so on and so forth.

This is different, it is like the banks who after announcing that they made Billions of dollars profit an a year, then turn around and say they are increasing fees, laying off people and closing branches, just so they have a bigger profit margin for next year. None of that is necessary, just like it isnt necessary for Nexon to charge $20 for Pam's Song when they could charge $10 or $5 or even $3 for it.

It's not necessary for them to charge less money just because they have money though. I do get what you are saying however. I would agree if they had promised a price and then increased it later.

Just throwing this out there, but the former idea that the MTS is an efficient way of getting NX is more or less gone for those uninvolved in high level boss squads. Over the past few months I've made an attempt at earning NX through the MTS by regularly hunting area bosses, but all told for those months, I wound up earning about 130 mil and 7k NX. 60% scrolls just aren't worth much of anything anymore. The only way to make it work is if you spend a very, very long time area boss hunting, selling everything and buying only high value items. There is no regular casual small increment way to gain through the MTS anymore. It was what made me decide that my time was simply worth more than all that wasted effort and throw down 30$ to break my boycott after potential was released. Which I suppose works to their marketing strategy very well.

Now, after saying that, I've never been one to afford white scrolls in the first place, and I've no intention of getting these or complaining about the prices. As others have said, the exchange rate is just about right. I'm just sorta fed up with people using the "ease of the MTS" as an excuse.

And hell, if someone replies to me with a "you're doing it wrong", by all means tell me how to do it right.

where did i say i hate nexon? where did i say they need to stop making money? where did i say i was unhappy at all? i stated several times that i'm just posting from the standpoint of why this is unreasonable pricing -- which it is. charging less for an item increases sales, especially an item like this that everyone will want. you think they'd have sold half as many cubes as they have if they were $10 each? $5 each? no. people wouldn't buy them... well some people would, but the average joe wouldn't. the same applies to this. smart pricing moves stock, and this isn't smart pricing. they counting entirely on the fact that they've made these items a temporary phenomenon, and pitching them as equipment security to move them which is a little devious. it might work for some people, but overall a lot of people are going to miss out because they've chosen an absolutely unfair price -- one that as has been stated, doesn't need to be there. there's no manufacturing costs, no shipping, no middlemen.

as for all of your assumptions about me; take a minute to look over my post history. i've spent far more time defending nexon in my time here than i have attacking them. i look at each thing they do realistically and weigh it only against itself.

oh, and maple won't shut down because some people suggested they try pricing their items more reasonably. their inability to do so would be a more likely cause. that's kind of a ridiculous statement.

But you forget that their price is reasonable considering the substantial impact of pricing it any lower. Look at the current prevalence of vicious hammers and their price. I don't think anyone would want White Scrolls or Pam's Song to be equally used. Making the price higher is better because, ironically, it makes the game less pay to play since these items are not required to do well in the game. Even if you consider the current NX:Meso price ratio, Pam's Song at $20 and already being better than a white scroll is a steal.

I just might be able to make a perfect Lampion with this. This makes me both happy and sad. The price is not exactly appealing, but Nexon will still sell a pomegranate ton without damaging the in-game economy too much.

I like the pricing of Pam's Song. It means the people who will make "perfect" or "godly" equipment with it are the same people who could make such equipment with White Scrolls. They just have less hassle chasing down and haggling with whoever gached a WS.
The average scroller will consider Pam's Song as unobtainable as White Scrolls and keep doing whatever he'd been doing up until now. He will not be wasting NX and he won't be raising the bar for "decent" equips.

To be honest, I would have been happier if Pam's Song never got released. Especially right now after the 50% scroll exploit while they're still plentiful. But it would have been far far worse, both for the Maple economy and for most players' pocketbooks, if Pam's Song had been priced like Vega's Spell.

So they put it in for a reasonable price and you are all whining that it's too high. LOL No one thought it was unreasonable to waste 50-100 gatch tickets at NLC to get one white scroll.

I think it's a very reasonable price to give anyone who wants to a chance to scroll a perfect item.

Since I'm not getting any anyway (due to being an event item), they can price it as high as they want for all I care. People who don't want to use pam's song are happy when it's expensive, but people who did want to use them think it's bs. I feel like I've just been stating the obvious here, so: because this is an event item, white scrolls will most likely fall pretty hard for a while, but quickly start climbing back up after the event is over. For 50% scrolling, pam's song is about = 2 white scrolls, so if they go down to 150-200mil, they'd be a pretty good investment for the future imo. If it's anything like vegas, we won't see pam's song again for a good while.

Yes, but I'd rather have a steak. personally i don't think this will impact the market an awful lot. It's not like this item brings back your item from the abyss if the scroll destroys the items, just if the scroll itself fails. I can only see this item being useful with certain scrolls like 10% and 30% regular scrolls and a few other scrolls like the new 50%s. But really, your buying something that is currently worth more than buying 20 or so 60% Glove for ATK scrolls. Now i ask you, would you rather try and make 4 10 atk gloves or have a miniscule chance of having that 30% scroll fail, fail mind you, and not blow up your item?

Anyway I look at it, this item is only for the rich who want to make some godly item with their like 10 Chaos Scrolls or stockpile or white scrolls/50% scrolls. This has no effect on the basic gamer whatsoever nor does it actually -enhance- anything but rather make the buyer think he bought something that can make his godly item fail less. But continue on Nexon, I can't wait to see the next item you make to appease the NX whores

For anybody who says that Nexon could've easily made Pam's song 10k or even 5k, take into consideration that it would be almost game-breaking at that point, as it would
1. Make perfect items a whole lot easier to acquire (which I personally don't think should be an easy thing) and
2. Pineapple up the economy. Demand for exchanging mesos to NX would go up a lot, making NX worth a whole lot more mesos.
