Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

Movie has not released in Mexico, heck they haven't even made any kind of announcment for it.

My God, the adventure we had to see this movie.

Six friends and I where going to cross over to the US to see the premiere, which starts at midnight. So, we decided to go at around 6 PM, I know it's way too early, but just in case anything happens. We got to the cinema at around 11:30 PM, half an hour before the movie began.

The problem was that we had to go over to one of my friend's (Joe) house for his cash, we were supposed to go straight from school to the theater. And when we got to Joe's house, one of my other friends (Dash) notices that he's missing his passport, he must've left it at his house. So we go on over to Dash's house which is pretty far away, for his passport. After that, we start heading on over to the border's bridge, but first we had to stop to buy insurance for the car, because it's required to cross onto the US. We got it, no problem, fast and easy. By the time we get to the bridge, it's around 7:30 PM. The waiting time to cross is around 30 minutes and we get on deck for revision, we start readying our documents, passports, visas, etc. That's when my friend, the driver (Lucas) can't find his visa... He gets out of the car saying that he'll call his parents, he probably left it at home and he'll crossover walking later.

So, Joe drives us across the border and we wait for Lucas. He calls us saying that his parents can't find his visa, so we start checking around in the car, maybe he dropped it or something. We checked every damn place in the car, except the engine and no sign of it... So, Dash and I decide to go over back to Mexico (long walk) with Lucas to see if he doesn't have it on himself (because communication with him was unstable). We get to him and says that he doesn't have it on him. After a while, Joe and my other two friends come back to Mexico with Lucas' car.

We go back to the car insurance place, where he might've dropped it. But it was closed. We searched around the place and no sign, even asking the people around there. So, we head back to Joe's house to get his car so that we can cross back to the US and hopefully in time for the movie. Lucas dropped us off and went back home, because his parents were pissed off at him and wanted to search the car themselves. Another problem was that Joe's car wasn't in his house, his sister was borrowing it. So, he calls her up and she brings it in about half an hour, because she was pretty far away. And now it's 10:30 PM, we're on our way to the border... again...

We get there, everything has their things ready and we cross. We get lost on the way to the theater, because none of us our familiar with that part of El Paso. But in the end, we did manage to get to it after a couple of missed exits and illegal U-turns.

We waited for our other 7 friends to arrive at the theater. We waited for midnight and we happily watched the movie. Which is awesome.

To be honest I don't think the movie or the books look that good. I really don't see what the big deal is all about.

The books are great, started reading them before the 5th volume was out and they're sweet. Whenever you have some free time, try reading 'em. At least a couple of pages, so that you can decide if you like it or not.

The movie has awesome effects, I've never seen anything like it. It really did feel like I was watching a game/cartoon/comic all in one.

On thing I didn't like about this movie was Michael Cera. I understand typecasting and all, but when a mediocre actor plays the exact same character over and over and over again it gets really boring.

Expendables is pretty good if you liked any of the movies any of the many actors in the movie were in before. The Other Guys is also a good one, if you liked Step Brothers, Talladega Nights, Anchorman.

What are you talking about? This was one of Michael Cera's better roles in my opinion. You really cant hate on an actor (specially in comedies) just because they break out in a certain type of role and everyone wants to use them as they were in that one break out role.

Better, but it's still more of the same. And, yeah, I know that, that's why I said I understand typecasting. But after a while it's more of the same.

He's not a bad actor mind you, he's very good at the role he plays, I just find that role boring.

I was not part of the problem.

The Expendables was... fun. Scott Pilgrim was better though. It even had better fistfights. The Expendables did have Terry Crews with an automatic shotgun. I'll give them that.

I saw Inception and have no desire to see the other three movies in theaters. Seeing Scott Pilgrim on Tuesday... hopefully...

I'm also hoping to see it on Tuesday. Didn't get to see it on the opening day with my friends so I'm going with another friend of mine.

The theatre I went to only had 1 showing the day it was released..

You messing with me son? When did I say he was? I said you'll most likely enjoy The Other Guys if you liked Step Brothers, Talladega Nights, and Anchorman.

However in the movie I liked Mark Wahlberg better than Will Ferrel. But at least Will Ferrel playing a typical comedic retard is a million times better than Michael Cera playing typical slightly depressed trashy hipster.
