Noobs tend to go rock because they think it's tough, so I tend to start off with Paper and adjust from there.

Personally I'm the one who says "Rock Paper Scissors says shoot" and I set a slow pace. Sometimes I am able to tell if the hand is loosened up or if it's in a tight ball. If it's loosened, that means person does not choose rock = I am safe with scissors.
But that only works sometimes if I'm lucky. |
