Ask a Magician Thread.

Thank you. Are wraiths better/worse xp wise than zombies? This is my first magician so I don't know. I basically gather all the wraiths at one side, lead them until they form a huge mob at the other side and take them all out at once. Is that possible on Zombie maps?

zombies are a bit worse than wraiths now. it is possible to mob most of the zombies together, but they walk so slowly that about half of them would probably die before the other half got to where you were.

Wraiths are infinitely better than zombies all the way up till 3rd job and a bit beyond too Biggrin

It's best to cap at 4 (ie have base stats of 4/4/x/4). Use a clean wooden wand until you can get an Umbrella or other similar leveled weapon. Use umbrella until you can get an elemental wand or Black Umbrella, or even something else like this new stirge weapon which has magic attack. Your endgame goal is a level 130 lukless wand. If the elemental weapons are ever fixed to add the elemental boosts in place, Priest/Bishop are forced to use alternative weapons, forcing them to stick with Black Umbrella as best endgame lukless weapon (until Maple weapons are available anyway).

Lack of Maple weapons makes lukless a little more challenging (particularly for FP/IL), but the money saved makes up for it. Going for Black Umbrella as a Mage also pushes you to go booster-less, and in all honesty, booster doesn't help experience rates a whole lot anyway.

EDIT: if you've already added much more than 4 luk, I would say to just stop adding luk now. Regardless of how much luk you have, your best endgame weapon is still the level 130 lukless wand. If you have 4 luk, you use the 130 wand. If you have 120 luk, you use the 130 wand. Even once level 120 weapon set comes out, the 130 wand will STILL beat it hands down. The ONLY reason to add luk now is for looks, but if you're in this game for looks, I think taking a look at cash shop equips would be a bit more effective.

Does anyone know approximately what level a Magician can hit Himes at a decent rate?

Depends on what you're doing: leeching or actually training. Leeching a DK, then clerics can go as early as 6x and 7x. For training, it's around 9x. 10x to solo I think.

I am currently a lvl 94 priest. I have maxed Holy Symbol and Shining Ray, put one point each in Elemental Resistance, Door and Doom, and am now working on maxing Dispel, (it's lvl 10.) I am thinking of putting 15 in Dragon because I estimate I'll be 4th job before I really get to use it. (I am in Yollande on constant 4x.) What other skills, such as doom, ER and door should be maxed? Thank you!!

Max Elemental Resistance for sure. As for Doom and Door, it's really your choice. Doom is just there for fun, and not very helpful for training since it takes away Holy Weakness. Getting more points into Door just extends the time you have, so if you return for town, you might not have to worry about it disappearing. I kept Dragon at 15, maxed Door, and put 16 points into Doom.

If you plan to HT a lot, then it might be advisable to max Summon Dragon as it has a farther range than Bahamut and can help you kill Wyvern (Black especially) summons.

Edit: I didn't notice the time of post. I'm sure your question has been answered and that your 2x event has ended D:

Hi there. Yes, the 2x event is indeed over. I am now a lvl 131 Bishop. :XD I ended up maxing all 3rd job skills except for doom, which I left at one. I now have 10 points in Genesis, and am wondering where else to put my SP into. I was afraid of posting in this thread before my previous question was answered. Thank you for your help.

I'd probably go for maxing Resurrection, since it's essential in Boss Fights. Most people go for Bahamut or Angel Ray after upping Genesis / Maple Hero. I went for Angel Ray because Bahamut isn't very helpful at Skelegons if you can only 2hit them. They aggro the Skeles and blast you for 3k ish damage.

One more thing: does someone have a map of the resurrection jump quest and instructions on how to do it? I cannot stand jump quests. Help would be much appreciated.

Here's a guide on Resurrection, with a decently made map~
Like the above poster said, dropping coins is very helpful~

I've heard from people that your total LUK determines how much EXP% you lose after death for a Magician-class character, is that true? Then again, I've heard from a certain member on SP (forgot who) said that EXP% that is lost depends on class? o_O; So my question is, being a LUKless Cleric, will I lose 5% (for being a Magician), or lose a full 10% because I have 4-base LUK?

Nexon changed it so that the % lost depends on your class, meaning mages lose 5%, and I don't know the rest.
