So I wanted to compare an I/L and a F/P to find who has the best DPS in the 4th job, but I don't know how DoT works in KMS now. Does it affect bosses? How much does each tick do compared to the amount of damage?

Seems like it does affect bosses now, and it's based on the maximum damage in your damage range. You can compare the typical skill damage multiplier and its associated DoT multipliet yourself...

I have no idea how to use the DoT variable though.

Apparently, max damage * dot % = tick dmg. Yes, dot affects bosses.

Well, good to know it's so simple. Does DoT stack, or is it only once?

I think someone mentioned that they do stack, provided they're caused by different skills or something.

Adding in a comp every 10 seconds would help DPS then. I should look into this.

There was a video where a f/p used demon, poison breath, and comp to poison and para to attack.

Well, if it's every attack and not just seperate elements, a F/P can use 6 different attacks to create DoT.
It's possible to get 800% extra DoT on a F/P for 1/3 of the time, and 580% for 2/3 the time. I/L can get 305% 1/3 of the time, and 100% 2/3 the time.
Also, does amp affect the range of mages, or is it applied after?

Well, I did calculate the DPS.
It turns out, F/Ps do 1549.05% DPS, while I/Ls do 1605.63%. This is also before calculating crits and elemental weapons, which even widens the gap. But the DPS of these two are so close that better scrolled items tips it either way.

I don't know what you considered, does DoT do damage based on your normal range, amp'd range or amp'd+ewand range?
Also, did you account for the fact that DoT always does your max damage (by applying a 0.875 multiplier to normal attacks to have the average damage)?
Crits should prolly help I/L much more since they have base crit in their skill and DoT isn't affected by critical.
Did you account for an F/P using only paralyze? Or using other DoT skills as well?

Just did some new calculations, I still would like someone to confirm whether AMP and EWANDS affect DoT damage so I can finally put out some numbers for FP vs IL.
Well, calculations were made assuming the F/P would use FD, Meteor and Poison Mist every 15, 30 and 40 seconds, respectively, and paralyze during the rest of the time (DPS goes up doing this).
For the I/L they would be using Blizzard and FD every 30 and 15 seconds, respectively, and chain lightning the rest of the time (DPS goes up using DoT skills).
Anyway, assuming amp and ewands affect DoT damage:
F/P DPS% = 3343.19%
I/L DPS% = 3514.44%
If you consider higher bosses have MDRate of 50% then F/P jump to the front.
I can do simulations with this.
Anyway, they seem to be pretty close.

I cannot outright confirm that amp doesnt affect DoT, but, from what I have seen in the few videos where DoT makes an appearance (and where it's possible to know its exact % to figure out the guy's damage range), the damage done by regular skills works out better if you consider DoT isnt affected at all by amp. The same goes for summons.
Based on this alone I am almost sure that elemental weapons do not bear any effects on DoT either.
Shidoshi, you seem to be overestimating amp (160% when its actually 150%) and Master Magic (which as far as the wording of the skill goes simply adds +30 matk and not +30% matk) in your spreadsheet.

The one thing I forgot was the mastery. In my calculations, I had the F/P using every DoT skill in his arsenal; After I factored in mastery, my numbers came out to 1414.84% F/P and 1425.97% for the I/L.
