oh god how i wish I could force resolution changes in Maplestory..... I'd force it to 1920 x 1080, forced 4x AA, 16x AF, Triple buffering

You can force AA and buffering easily.

You can stretch the window to any resolution by using Full Screen or something like DxWnd, but you cannot alter how much of the maple world you see - a kMS like window mode.

How would you do that? Do you just force it through your driver's control panel?

More importantly, how would you force it in a game with no 3D rendering whatsoever.

(Silly thread is silly.)

iirc, some programs, even if not in 3d, can still benefit from the use of rendering effects like AA.

The full screen mode in current GMS is still the same as 800x600, its just that you then have it stretched to whatever size screen you have. So maple runs at 800x600 no matter what, only because it takes that size from the "rendered map" in game. In the new screen res with big bang, they just expanded the the size that is taken from the rendered map.

To put it simple, its like taking a small view finder onto an image, and expanding just that to full screen.

Maple uses Direct Draw, which is the 2D variant of Direct 3D, and it can handle the same filters/shaders as Direct 3D...

Still... gMS Maplestory is retardedly BAD programmed on the engine... that is... the core engine dates back to 2001 when all there was, was only 1st job skills and vic island...

But the core engine doesn't support multi-threading, real-GPU hardware accelleration, is WAY too CPU reliant, and isn't really designed for more graphic-heavy skills other then magic claw and lucky7... let alone if 30 people in 1 screen (squad bosses) start spamming them all together...

Although you CAN notice a REAL speed boost in the 1024 mode of kMS (yes that runs way faster then gMS in 800 mode), it's still not as fast as I would like to see Maple (200+ FPS).
