Now this sounds quite obvious, but what would be the better option? I was thinking, that potential might be better to start off with, but when you think about it, if you can potential a makered a equip then wouldnt it make that equip better? Hm.. what do you guys think? Btw I mean better in terms of stats and damage

This poll is indeed weird
potential is easier to make, but stats are random and sometimes are bad
for example
a lv30 claw u potential gives u 5% to inflict lv1 stun and +2% hp
but a lv30 maker'd claw has +3att above avg and additional stats... so basically maker is better in terms of chances, but if you r lucky so potential is better
(lv30 claw with 3%dmg and +9luk for example)

No brainer. Makered potentialed equips will win. Only problem is you wil have to risk a potential scroll instead of just picking up monster droped equip unidentified. Also, there's a rumour you can't get 3 line options if they do not come out straight away, which makes maker a lot more risky with your mesos if you are aiming at maximum outcome and nothing else.
It is also worth mentioning semi decent clean potential equips beat the hell out of basically every godly pre patch gear, except for some weapons. Had a 50 stat sauna? Too bad, even 6% stat beat that out of the water for higher levels.

What I plan to do is just potential stuff first, and work on getting overall much better instead of focusing 50+ cubes into a single item like most people. Then once that's all done, start working on one piece of gear at a time, either by hunting them with potential, or by makering them. Once potential scroll price deflates, i will probably potential gear that isn't even pre-potential'd.
For example:
For my dual blade, i will just try and get it a full set of gear potential'd, that at least works minimally. Then i will hunt or maker tops and bottoms until I get that settled. For gear such as top/bottom, I will only continue with it for endgame if it is 3 slot bonus. Stuff like a chaos zak helm, weapon, etc I will prolly accept a 2 slot bonus item for a while since those are harder to replace. While this isn't proven, my theory on cubes making items 2 slot --> 3 seems to only happen when the rank changes as well. I believe it's impossible for an epic 2 --> epic 3 or anything like that, but it is possible for a rare 2 --> epic 3 or an epic 2 --> unique 3. This is much rarer and harder than trying for 3 bonuses right away. Since the 3 bonuses are there, it's just a matter of NX before I get nice ones.
