Describe the problem. Be as specific as possible!:
Upon going to certain areas of certain maps, this sequence of events happens:
- Warped or glitched outside the map
- Disconnect to login screen (#1)
- Disconnect while entering PIC (#2)
- Maple closes itself
- Re-open Maple
- Log back in
- Character still glitched outside the map
- Disconnect to login screen (#3)
- Character warped back to non-bugged location somewhere in here
- Disconnect while entering PIC (#4)
- Maple closes itself
- Re-open Maple, log in as normal
Four times the D/C, four times the fun, amirite?
Maps this has happened to me in:
Henesys Park
Amoria city

I'll try to get a picture of myself at the glitched location, but I only have about a split second timing to grab a screenshot.
EDIT: These problems only come on Vista/7. Running MS on XP fixes these issues.
Before the patch, you disconnected after you switched characters too many times. That was tolerable but now it's pretty horrible.
It happens when I either go to a map OR change channels. At this point the game either closes or puts me back at the log in screen. If I get pushed back to the log in screen, I can expect the game to close when I am in the middle of entering the PIC OR right after I log onto a character.
This is happening to me too. Maybe the D/Cs have something to do with Vista/Windows7? I'm running Windows 7 wondering if other people having these problems are win7 too.
They've succeeded in making this game even LESS compatible with Windows 7 after the most recent patch. I haven't been able to play stably on my Windows 7 ever since.
I haven't been having any of these problems on Windows XP.
Huh ok, it must be some other issue. I only had the issue for a couple of times then it seems to have not reared it's head again
since the sc. There must be another common denominator besides windows 7.
Pretty sure this is specific to Windows 7. Some Windows 7 users don't get it, though - however, I've never heard of a non-windows 7 user getting this issue.
Read my post. I run 64 vista. Only thing is i can relog back in fine unless the DC happens again. It's not like always 2 consecutive DCs (The DC to login + dc eventually happens, i just close maple since I know imma DC before i can enter my info back fast enough)
I also get these DC problems on my 64-bit Vista. It got really bad for me yesterday when I DC'd over 6 times just trying to get some stuff out of the CS.
DC when logging into character
DC on PIC
DC when entering CS
DC on PIC
DC after buying 1 Mystic Cube
DC on PIC
afterward I was perfectly fine, but I've never seen it THAT bad before. Usually I only get 2 DCs and then I'm done.
Hell, lately I've been DCing twice an hour or so [DC while moving -> DC on PIC] during the x2 events, it's really annoying when I'm trying to level and the double DC stops me for about 2min, which is devastating in the 180s.
64-Bit Vista. Same issues, extreme instability compared to how it was prior to the patch. Used to be able to open a steam game then leave MS on in the FM, but it will dc from the game but leave the process open now so I can't do that. Also, dcing from simple overnight afking in the FM. Never had the issue before, and I haven't pissed anyone off to dc me on such a regular basis.
Overall, anything involving logging in or getting into the CS seems to dc me any time after the first login upon opening maple.
I'm on a 64-bit Vista Home Premium, same thing, DC's on some maps at randoms, when I go into the CS or leave, DC's at PIC's when it DC's me to the login screen, it's quite annoying, lol.

I dc 90% of the time when i change ch.
i dc in almost every boss (cwkpq, scar, etc)
I dc if i log off, and type again my info, it dc me.
sometimes the client just close when i quit game.
If i navigate too fast between my char on the char selection screen, it dc me.
Sometimes i dc when i get out of cash shop.
the lest can go on.
Ah, forgot to mention that I black screen crash when I alt-tab back into maple sometimes so I've had to switch to alt-entering to window mode in order to check anything else while playing. Basically it will try to alt tab, then keep flashing a blank black screen and a shrunken resolution of my desktop and ctrl-alt-dlt does nothing unless I select to logoff, as does alt-f4. The lockup still occurs when using window mode, but not near as bad; it only leaves the maple window open with a transparent interior. In other words, it is a frame with a clear center that won't respond.
A more minor issue I ran into was that after returning to leafre using a return scroll, the sunlight layer in town was corrupt, and when attempting to re-log, crashed then. High quality btw. Hope they improve the stability as soon as possible because it is annoying to be given free 2x each day only to lose it with a dc.

Quote:I’m sorry to hear you’re experiencing difficulties with running MapleStory. Here are a few suggestions that might resolve your issue. If these tips don’t help you please submit more information about your system and character and server he/she is on, and any error messages you got.
1) Close any extra applications before starting the game as they may interfere with our game clients. If you do not feel comfortable turning off your firewall or antivirus, we suggest configuring them appropriately to allow the game client to run.
2) Run a Virus/Spyware scan on your system to make sure that it is clean. Malicious programs can interfere with the game and compromise the security of your account.
3) Please make sure that you have DirectX 9.0c or better and that your video card drivers are up to date. More information about direct can be found in our “Game Download” section at Nexon.net/
For nVidia video card drivers: http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp
For ATI video card drivers: http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html
4) Please make sure that Windows is configured to allow the execution of the game client. To verify this, click on your Start menu, Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance (if applicable) and then double click on System. Select the Advanced tab and click settings in the performance section. Once there, select the Data Execution Prevention tab and make sure that the game client is added if the second option is selected. Also make sure to click Apply and Ok if you make any changes.
5) If all of the above solutions do not resolve the issue, I suggest that you re-download the game client and then reinstall it. For best results, I recommend that you delete the folder the game is in and any other related files or icons before you reinstall the game. You can download the game client from our “Game Download” Section at http://www.nexon.net/
For MapleStory you might also try:
A) If you have problems with the patcher, we suggest downloading our manual patcher from our “Game Download” section at http://maplestory.nexon.net/
B) If all you see is a black screen or you get disconnected every time you enter the game, browse to your MapleStory folder and run the “Setup.exe”. You will be prompted with a question. Click NO and the setup will run through various frequencies and attempt to find one that works for your monitor. When you see the MapleStory image during the test, press ALT-H to notify the setup that you are able to see it. Outdated video drivers can also cause this; refer to #3.
C) If you have Windows Vista / Windows 7, right click on your MapleStory icon (not the desktop shortcut) and select properties. Once in the properties, click on the compatibility tab, check the box that says “Run this program in compatibility mode for:”, select Windows XP (Service Pack 2) from the drop down menu and click Apply. For best results, make sure to log on your computer as an administrator. While this solution will help MapleStory function under Windows Vista/ Windows 7, please remember that it is still not fully compatible.
I hope this information helps in resolving your issue. If you find that your issue persists, please let us know by opening a new ticket.
Sincerely,
GM Diatia

I did notice one thing, for me at least, that was causing my insane amount of DCs. Usually I'll have a JTV or LS Stream playing on FireFox while Mapling. I noticed that after closing down said streams, I wasn't getting my unexpected half dozen DCs, but back to my normal 1-2 DCs. You think maybe there's something that's triggering the DC as possibly a "Hack Attempt" or illegal response to Maple?

The only thing I have open at the same time as Maple is Windows Live and WMP. =\
Once I get XP re-installed on my second HD, I'm gonna play MS off there and see if I get any of the same problems.
