Hey there. I have alot of problems and questions concerning maplestory. I don't have any friends in game, so I come to Southperry to help me along here. I'll list out the problems I'm having, some of the thoughts im having, and some of the options im considering.
I have a few things im looking for in Maplestory. I want to level up a fun class, fund that character well, and kill bosses like Pap, bigfoot, zakum, horntail, etc. That is what im looking to do in maplestory. That is what makes the game fun for me, and if I make a few friends along the way, all the better. But lately I havn't been able to come to terms with the issues im having. Alot of these issues are crippling, and I can't play at all. I've had these problems for a long time, and just thinking about how to fix them isn't working. I need some help. The first problem I'm having is finding a fun class to level up. Right now, on Bera, I have a level 50 of nearly every classin the game. They all have an adventurer ring. I'm just having a very hard time finding a class I can stick with. There are things about every class that I love and that makes the class fun for me, but there is always a hitch or two that keeps me from fully enjoying the class. I hope you guys can help me sort out or eliminate the problems im having. This is how I feel concerning each of the classes I've considered playing, and what issues I have with them;
The format will go

Hitting the "invisible roof"
First thoughts here. I like the idea of Dragon knights. I like the big spears, the huge pretty animations, and doing good damage with big HP. But there are some things that are eating at me. I leveled my spearman to 93. I have maxed Crusher and Fury, but now it feels like I hit the top. I have my 2 best moves, so what else is there to look forward to? Berserk? I'm not gonna have enough HP to boss efficiently with Berserk. It just feels like I've reached my cap and that the only reason to level up higher would be to train as efficiently as a low leveled aran does. I'm not even very syked about beholder, because at bosses I'll be using an apple, and the small heal isnt very good until it's maxed, and even then I just use pots anyway. I have put about 60 points into Hp right now, and have washed out all but 24 of them. I don't know how much HP I'll have by 130 or 140 or how much extra MP I'll have to be able to wash with.

Playstyle and Training concerns pre-4th job
Looking at 4th job heros, they look fun. I love usin 2 handed weapons(I play a warrior in WoW), doing alot of damage with Combo looks fun, the finishers sound neat, and brandishbrandishbrandishbrandishbrandish. I have a few problems with these guys though. I've been told the only way to do competitive DPS with 1h Heros is to use a stonetooth. I don't mind having to use a stonetooth. The problem with that though, is finding people to sell the the dex gear I'll need to equip the sword as a dexless warrior. An even bigger problem is applying my soft supple baby-face to the hard and unforgiving grinder that is training any 2nd job warrior to 70, and even more so training a Crusader to 120. My biggest concern is that the class wont be fun until 4th job, and I might get burned out before I reach that point should I decide to play a Hero. I'm also concerned about not having enough HP to do bigfoot =/

Playstyle and Training concerns
I'll admit, I was very excited about these guys when the new balance patch hit. I was so ready for them to start kicking ass and taking names! I love the Dual Charges, the new utility Threaten has, and Heaven's Hammer looks cool. I have a few problems with this class too though. The first one is the same problem as the Hero; getting gear for a Stonetooth. The second is also another problem that the hero had, training. Except when Hero's get fun in 4th job with Brandish, Paladins just get a bigger Power strike. I like brandish because it hits twice, and hits 3 enemies. Blast only hits one. I'm OK with enduring the vicious grind that is 2nd job warriors, but as long as there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I want to be rewarded with a cool ass ability to use, like Crusher for DKs and Brandish for Heros. Paladins dont ever really get that, it looks like they train just like they did when they were in 2nd job. Plus they have much worse mob skills than the other two warriors (reapplying the charge every time for charged blow in 3rd job? COME ON!). Just like with the hero, I'm concerned with having enough HP to bigfoot.
Aran -
HP concerns
I have leveled an aran to 127 before, and I will say; they are the most fun class I have ever played. I love warriors, heavy armor, big hp, big attacks, and even bigger weapons. The aran takes all of that and runs with it. You get a big heavy slow Polearm, and swing it around gracefully like a ballarina of death blendering everything to pieces. I love how the class plays. Just like with all the other classes though, I have problems with this too. Arans have worse Hp than all the other warriors, and this hits home for me. I leveld my aran solo. I know the pains and aches of having less Hp than our warrior cousins. Being on the verge of death at himes in the 90's, being on the verge of death 24/7 at skeles, and trying to bigfoot un-washed is madness. This is my biggest problem with arans. They have less base Hp than warriors, and they gain less Hp per wash. I'm here to tell you, I don't like the idea of having to wash to even get to SEE content in maplestory. It is ridiculous. But, I'am willing to wash a little if I dont' have to go out of my way to do it. But arans have to go through more to get the same effect with washing. Not being washed and having under 7k hp at 12x on my old aran was one of the reasons I deleted him. I'am not leveling another aran unless I wash it, and im not dropping more than 1b on INT gear.
Dawn Warrior -
I tell you this class looks so fun to me. I know, I know, lolcygnus. I know they cap at 120, but if I leveled up this class it wouldnt be to do end game stuff on (though I might just for the fun of it). The class just looks cool as hell. LOTS of damage at low levels, mobility, the best abilities of Paladins and Heros? Sign me up. I really wanted to level one of these up just stacked to the teeth with godly gear, to have some REAL fun. I'm not concerned with washing it because, really, what end game stuff am I gonna do? Basicaly the reason I would make this class is to wave my plantain around at skeles and show off big damage.

Bowman -
HP concerns
Playstyle becoming "stale" or "stiff"
I leveled one of these up to 50 during the ring event, and my god, carve my eyes out with an ice cream scoop, please...Just dont make me level up another bowman to 50. No increased mobility/mobility moves, cant jump shoot, has a dead zone, and low hp. These problems glare out at me hardcore. I will admit though, seeing those gigantic purple numbers pop up when I used Double Arrow gave me a grin that had to be surgically removed. I love "the Shooter" type of feeling I get from shooting arrows far away and seeing big damage go off. Makes me feel like mark wahlburg. I know some of the problems I listed go away when you level up, so the only real problem I have with bowmen is this; having low hp. I'm not washing ANY class that does not have a "You get more hp when you apply a point in HP!" talent that warriors and buccs have. Im just not doing it. It requires hardcore dedication and effort, and I'm not looking to drop alot of money just to see the end-game content I should be seeing anyway. The Hp thing may not be a big deal, because the class is ranged, so I'd like a real marksmen/bowmaster's input on this.
Crossbowman - LOL I dont have one!

Gear and funding issues
Training concerns
I've had a few 9x hermits in my time. They're fun, fun as hell. Meso up, shadow partner, throwing huge crits with ninja stars from far away? Cool stuff. My only problems with this class is the HP issue that bowmen have, and the fact that it would be incredibly hard for me to find the gear I'd need to go low-dex on my hermit like I'd want. It would also appear that I would get more out of the mesos/NX I have available to me by funding say a warrior over a hermit. To have a hermit do godly damage, they require more expensive pieces of gear than a warrior does. Actually training them looks like it would be HELL before having maxed avenger. Going from playing warriors with Slash blast to playing a Hermit with no mob skill to speak of scares me =/

Survivability issues
I'm not mentioned CB's, because in my eyes, a DB is just a better CB. I've made my DB, and he is at lvl 48 right now. So far I'm having a blast. The mobility and the cool animations just keep me entertained like a small child with a ring of jingly keys. They only get better as they get higher levels too, which is awesome. My only problems are these; My hp is about 500 less than the people who started at lvl 1, and HP is a bigger problem for a DB than it is for a CB. CB's get the godsend that is meso guard...DB's get that mirror image puppet thing in 4th job. Which I wouldnt even get until after AT LEAST 130. And Stack effect takes away your mirror image, so your damage gets raep'd. I've heard that you can apply mirror image immediately after using stack and stack will still work, but I dont know. Im not washing a DB, so I don't know what I would do about training at Skeles or even bossing.

Training concerns
Delays, delays, delays on everything
While leveling my brawler up to 50 I was having a blast. Being invincible with CSB and SumKick was cool. The transformations, energy charge, and hitting things a bamillion times with Demolition and Rapid Punch looks fun. I just have a few qualms though. The delays on the skills just kills me. Going from playing a DB or Aran where everything is quick, fast, fun and immediate, to playing a Brawler where you have delays on everything is an eye opener. I do know that Big Bang has been very very kind to Buccs, and I'am so looking forward to the changes that it is a fair assumption to make that I may MAIN a buccaneer in big bang. But until then, I'm just not sure if I could deal with having slow abilities and being looked at weird for actually LIKING super transform. The other problem I have is one I've been having; HP and HP washing. Buccs have more HP than chief bandits, but less than arans. They get a neat increased HP thing like warriors have to make washing easier, but it would require INT gear and stuff to really take full advantage of it.

Playing style that is just bonkers
I had some good times leveling this guy up to 50. It was like playing a better Bowman. I had some mobility, and no dead zone! =D The dead zone thing really just tickled me. Apparently they get some more neat stuff later on? Corsairs just look really wonky to me. Using pets, having an ultimate, using bass ackwards jumping and floating things to be like a hermit, using elemental capsules, and being on a boat. I'm just not sure if I could "get into" the type of playstyle a corsair requires. Plus they have the same HP problems Hermits and Bowmen have, and they have to juggle being on and off their ship at bosses, and im just not sure if I want to play like that.
Mages;
Spoiler
The only mage I have right now is an Evan. I'm pretty much a physical damage type of guy, never been too interested in casters or magic. The only mage I'd want to play would be a Bishop, or an evan. I'd play a bishop because I like holy magic, and I like buffing people and training quickly. I'd play an Evan because I've been told they do the most damage of the mages, and they have some cool mechanics that look neat. Like magic mastery and having innate crit, spitting fire and stuff. I/L mages and F/P mages just look really boring to me right now, especially I/L. Fire looks neat because of Fire Arrow (love the animation), and because fire is just cool. Using poison mist to train looks cool. I can say that if I do play a mage before big bang, it'll probably be Evan or bishop for reasons mentioned before. After big bang, all the casters are getting changed up alot, but I'll probably be playing a battle mage at that point instead of these guys.
Aside from the class problems im experiencing, there are other areas of the game that are bothering me. The problems im having in Bera;
1. Overcrowdedness. I Cannot train anywhere, and with golden temple gone I have to go back to normal training spots. Since DBs have been released and the 2x exp events are going on, Bera is just unberable(ho!). The community is also just atrocious. Nothing but children play this server, and it makes me rage to see all of them spam their stupid smegas all the time.
2. Finding godly gear to buy. I have the money, I just can't find the sellers. I post topics on Southperry and SW, I look on basil, I cruise FM, I even smega sometimes. It's just not happening.
To remedy the server situation, I was hoping to just up and move to a new one. When I first thought on this, I thought of moving to the server that was least populated. This would solve my overcrowdedness problem immediately. Having a smaller population also means having a closer-knit community; though this would probably lead to more drama, and the "no gear to buy" problem would be even worse. I'm also not sure how I would transfer all my assets to this new server, or even what character I would play there. Would I server transfer one of my existing characters, or start a new one?
I'm just not sure how to handle this. My entire maple career is on bera, but I just can't take it anymore. The kids, the KS'ing while im training, no friends, I'm just sick of it. I want to be able to train in peace. I want a friendly community. I want to play with older, mature people who can spell and don't stir up drama. I've been looking at other servers, and I'm considering yellonde. Even during the 2x exp events, their channel one wasn't filled to full. This does indeed bode well. I also saw that Windia and some of the other newer servers were less populated than Bera. I neeed a server that has a good friendly mature community, but isn't so populated that all the training maps are taken, and it needs to have a good market/economy.
I don't know what to do about these problems, South Perry. I have no one to turn to and I can't solve these problems on my own. What class should I play? Should I go to a different server?

Well ya, they do have less hp than warriors o.o training them sounds like it may be difficult because you gotta juggle your invincibility frames or you'll die. The delays on their skills though just irritate me though, they make me feel slow and sluggish.
Though most of the stuff I have listed under the concerns is speculation. One reason I posted for help was to hopefully get some insight from high leveled classes to dispel or confirm my concerns for the classes.
I guess because you laughed at me that I shouldnt be so concerned about their HP? haha

1) I have enough HP to do pretty much anything i want to, and +% HP equips aren't really even out yet.
2) If you don't juggle iframes you'll get HIT but you won't DIE. What kind of class do you think this is? NLs?

I laughed at those things because they aren't concerns at all. Buccs train well, have enough HP, and even with delays are balanced with other classes.
Everyone's over-concerned about how much HP they have. There is no need to HP wash as any ranged class. I think it's funny that you think Corsairs have a "wonky" playstyle. I think it's awesome.
You shouldn't really be worried about HP and funding when you're making a character. With the Big Bang patch coming up, just pick one based on playstyle.

Can ranged classes do HT without any washing? =S I know that pink bean pretty much requires everyone to be washed to a certain degree. I wasn't talking smack about corsairs! haha. They're very interesting, I should have said. The way you gotta plant your octopi, put homing beacon on things, weaving the boat in your training, you just really gotta know your class well. I don't see any other class function like that in maplestory lol
What should I do about the server situation guys? =S This problem is only gonna get worse when more patches/big bang hits.

I have 5100 HP at level 166 without any washing. You only need 4900. Big Bang also reduces the damage mobs do, and potential equips have a chance to get +% HP.
While I think you should try the mage classes ( I have both AM types and love them both to death ), it seems like Arans would be a logical choice for you. You adore their skills and said yourself its the most fun you've ever had in the game. Like the previous posters also said, I wouldn't worry so much about HP. Anticipating the Big Bang update would be your best option. I also think you should NOT consider moving to Windia. The immaturity is unbearable there. You also have to remember that in newer servers, younger players are playing there as well. Mardia is notorious for having so many "noob" players. I find myself explaining things most of the time. Perhaps moving to Khania, where there is fairly large amount of SP players there?
Whatever you choose, please let me know! I greatly enjoyed reading your opinions on each class.
HP gear (180 ring, 300 pendant, 200 medal) really gets rid of most HP concerns for ranged classes.
To address the concerns of the classes I've played -
Dragon Knight
- yes, it's boring from 93+. You're not really gonna get anything new for a long time.
- extra HP just seems to make it less interesting, I can berserk in lots of situations with level 1 Berserk even.
Paladin
- Dexless or stonetooth user, choose one. If you're dexless you do higher damage per hit. Stonetooth user, you swing more. Or you could go 1 handed and get both anyway.
- Yes, they have the same skills all the way out. I like those skills so it's not an issue for me.
- Bigfoot's not a fun boss even if you can kill it. It doesn't do anything interesting except 1hko most 3rd jobs.
Night Lord
- Gear costs more because Night Lords get richer. It's plain and simply easier to earn money on a Night Lord than a warrior.
- The thing is, ranged skills are more useful than mob skills. As an Assassin you train quicker because you're hitting monsters more often.
The only thing I didn't see here is that Night Lords are (currently) not a very strong class on their own. They depend absolutely on Sharp Eyes. Without it you might as well just log off and do something else, because you'll train slower and waste more time than any other 4th job class.
