Pride, Prejudice, and Zombies and Pokemon [RPG]
#81
OOC: Yeah, the entrances to Diglett Cave were in Vermillion and Pewter City. I just fell into the middle section.

---

"CRRRRAAAAAAPPPPP!!!!"

The group made a mad dash down the cave, hoping to outrun the Diglett. So far, they were doing unexpectedly well, if only because of the fact that they only seemed to be coming from one direction. Most of the Diglett that popped up in front of everyone were regular Diglett, but they joined the ranks of the zombie army as the army dug past. Finally, the group could see a ladder up ahead.

Lyssane: A ladder?! Why'd it have to be a ladder?!

Natu and Murkrow flew up the ladder with no trouble. Lyssane, Charmander, and Togepi, however... As Lyssane reached the ladder, everyone suddenly found themselves surrounded. One of them lunged at Charmander with a Scratch attack, but he whipped the Diglett into the cave wall with a Dragon Rush. A brief blinding flash came from Togepi as the flame's light briefly shone on her, and the brief flash from the brightpowder appeared to startle the rest of the Diglett.

Charmander: Have at you!
Lyssane: Hm, so that's what Diglett look like out of the ground.
Murkrow: Don't just stand there! Climb, idiot! They're going to recover any moment now!
Natu: We need to go back and buy them some time!

Murkrow flew down and attempted to launch a Whirlwind and Confuse Ray combo, but it only succeeded in having the Diglett begin slamming into the walls, causing parts of the cave ceiling to cave in. Lyssane quickly returned everyone but Natu into their Pokeballs, and Natu used Psychic to help her up the ladder. They then made a mad dash towards the entrance, with Lyssane frequently tripping and stumbling back up as fast as possible.

The two barely made it out of the cave before part of the entrance collapsed. A few seconds later, and everyone would have been crushed to death. Anyways, they now found themselves at the outskirts of Vermillion City. The other three Pokemon forced themselves back out of their Pokeballs.

Lyssane: Natu... You did good.
Natu: Yeah, but I left your briefcase down there.

Lyssane quickly realized that her briefcase was missing. It was probably down below the ladder somewhere. She thought about going back in to retrieve it, but the Diglett were probably waiting for her to come back. Lyssane decided that she had to leave it behind. For the next five minutes, she complained about everything that she lost within that briefcase as everyone marched into Vermillion City. Things like her passport, Pokedex, and even photos of her parents. There was even a group picture with Natu, Murkrow, and Tropius.

Vermillion City was strangely peaceful. It seemed to be deserted, save for a group consisting of one Nurse Joy and four Officer Jennys. The Jennys were with a squad of four Squirtles and Growlithes, watching the wildfire to the west approach Celadon City. Lyssane approached the group to see what she could learn about what happened here.

Officer Jenny: Ugh, whoever started this fire is going to face some huge fines!
Lyssane: ...
Togepi: Oops.
Nurse Joy: But no one is allowed in this area! It was probably a wild Pokemon.
Officer Jenny: Yeah, you're probably right.

They finally noticed Lyssane and her Pokemon as the Officer Jennys were discussing plans to run through Saffron City and defend Celadon City with the Squirtles.

Nurse Joy: Ah, it's great to see another trainer here! And where are you from?
Lyssane: Uh...
Murkrow: She better not say Pallet.
Lyssane: ...Fuschia City.
Officer Jenny: You came from Fuschia? I heard that city is full of zombies. You're lucky to be alive.
Nurse Joy: I hope the zombies haven't figured out how to ride bikes up to Celadon yet. I wonder how Erika and her assistants are doing against the zombies from Saffron?
Officer Jenny: What brings you to Vermillion City, anyways? It's dangerous to go to Saffron City.
Lyssane: Have you seen a Tropius lately?
Officer Jenny: Are you the owner of that Tropius? We saw a Tropius land in the construction area shortly after the last trainers here left.
Nurse Joy: He seemed to be suffering though.

Everyone ran to the construction area that Nurse Joy described, to find Tropius resting. Murkrow and Natu were about to fly up and meet him, until he opened his eyes. The two stopped mid-flight. Tropius did not look pleased to see his old friends.

Lyssane: Tropius... What happened to you?

The zombified Tropius took flight, and launched a volley of leaves at the group.

Lavender town

A zombie Zubat dives out of the sky toward the gym leader. Lt. Surge punches the zombie out of the sky and it falls on the ground.

Lt. Surge: Raichu, finish it! (Raichu releases a large Thunderbolt that turns the zombie Zubat into dust) Darn zombies, we knock 'em down but they keep getting back up.

Pikababe: I didn't expect to see you here.

Lt. Surge: (a little startled) I saw you fall off of that bird before. Sorry, I couldn't tell if you were a zombie or not. Don't worry, the Noctowl was hurt but it managed to fly away.

Pikababe: That was you?!! We could have been killed!

Lt. Surge: Derp, my bad. I came to Lavender town with some trainers to fight off these gosh darn zombies. The evacuation is just about finished and I will be returning to Vermillion city soon.

(Gastly let's himself out of his poke ball and uses Hypnosis on Raichu) Raichu slumps to the ground, fast asleep.

Lt. Surge: Zombie freak, I'll kill you!! He tries to kick Gastly in the face but his foot just passes through.

Pikababe: Wait, stop he's not a zombie! He's with me. (Gastly chuckles as he evolves into Haunter) No more funny business, return now! (Haunter goes back in his poke ball)

Sorry about that. Did you see any Radio tower people come through here?

Lt. Surge: (while trying to wake up Raichu) Yes, they were trying to leave town but we stopped them. (Surge calls over one of the Cool trainers that are still fighting) Hey, where are those Radio tower people?

Cool Trainer: They ran off while we were busy with the zombies. (a Hydrop pump attack sails over the trainers head and hits a zombie Quagsire, which explodes)

Lt. Surge: Oh well, nothing we can do now. Before, they were trying to go to Saffron city, it hasn't been that long since I last saw them. I'd love to help you but I don't want to leave Vermillion city for too long. Good luck chasing them.

I run to the train station in Saffron city with Jiggles behind me. The city seems strangely empty and then I spot the reason why. Not very far from the city is a huge wall of flames. A large crowd of zombies has gathered on the west side of town and are staring at the inferno.

I should thank whoever set that fire for the distraction. I run down the steps into the empty train station. Looking at the tracks, I see that the train has not left yet.

We're in luck! Now I just need to convince the workers to come with me! As I approach the Magnet train, I hear loud and angry shouting coming from inside..

Everyone was surprised to learn that Tropius had become a zombie, but not surprised enough to not defend themselves from his Razor Leaf. Natu teleported behind Tropius, Murkrow used Whirlwind to deflect some of the leaves, and Charmander and Togepi burned the rest. Lyssane was frantically looking for the Pokeball that Tropius used, until it dawned on her...

Lyssane: Crap! Tropius' Pokeball was in the briefcase!

Of course, Natu instantly regretted not flying back into the tunnel to fetch the briefcase. Either way, she attempted to pin Tropius with a Thunder Wave, with Murkrow launching a Confuse Ray at the same time. Tropius flopped and thrashed around in mid-air in confusion, one of his wings slapping Natu and sending her into a nearby boulder, and finally let out a roar as he completely lost control of his wings and crashed down to the ground. Meanwhile, Charmander was using Dragon Dance, trying to speed up his reaction speed.

The crash and subsequent flamethrower from Togepi snapped him out of confusion. He was rather burnt, but that didn't stop him from trying to slice Charmander with his Air Slash. At this point, Charmander was able to dodge all of the slashes, and eventually leapt up to whip Tropius with a Dragon Rush to the face, with enough force to knock him to his side.

They hoped that would be the end of it, that Tropius would be knocked out long enough so that Lyssane could make plans to retrieve the briefcase. Unfortunately, Tropius recovered with a Synthesis, and righted himself up with a stomp that generated Earthquakes. The construction site was getting heavily damaged, with cracks all over the ground. Charmader was knocked out by a falling beam. Natu was buried under some debris. Lyssane lost her balance and tumbled down the steps leading up to the construction site. Murkrow and Togepi somehow managed to avoid everything.

The Officer Jennys and Nurse Joy ran out of the Pokemon Center with their Squirtles and Growlithes. They helped Lyssane up (who luckily didn't suffer any crippling injuries), and asked her what was happening to Tropius. Lyssane couldn't see any of her Pokemon besides Murkrow.

Lyssane: Officer Jenny, we really need help! My Tropius is a zombie!
Murkrow: Thank you, Captain Obvious!
Nurse Joy: Look at that Tropius... It's so sad for a Pokemon like this to have lost its mind and turned into a zombie...
Officer Jenny: Our Growlithes will help, but I have to warn you, if Tropius does something that could potentially destory the city, we'll have no choice but to kill him. Is that something you're prepared to do?
Lyssane: ...

Tropius turned its attention to Murkrow. Now free from the effects of Natu's Thunder Wave, he took to the air again, and charged at Murkrow with his head down. Murkrow attempted to stun him with a Sucker Punch, but failed as Tropius' Headbutt sent him flying to the ground behind Lyssane and Growlithes. Tropius let out a roar, and everyone could see him charging a Solar Beam, intending to destroy Murkrow and everyone around him. Lyssane returned Murkrow to his Pokeball, but that only made Tropius shift his attention to her.

Officer Jenny: Will you do it now?!
Lyssane: No, but... We don't have a choice. Hurry, before he releases his Solar Beam!
Officer Jenny: Alright, Growlithes! You heard her! Fire Blast!

All five of the Growlithes let loose the strongest Fire Blasts that they could. Tropius' body was engulfed in flames, but he still continued charging up. The three humans started to panic. Suddenly, Lyssane hear Togepi trill from inside the construction zone, and saw a very bright glow.

Togetic: Stop!

Lyssane could see Togepi again, as the debris around Togepi was lifted into the air. Except... It wasn't Togepi. Togepi had evolved into Togetic! The debris that buried Natu and Charmander were lifted up as well. Togetic used her AncientPower to throw the debris at the flaming Tropius. The impact of the flying debris swung Tropius' head and neck towards Saffron City, and the released Solarbeam blasted through Saffron. Exactly where the Solarbeam hit Saffron, nobody could tell from this distance.

Tropius then crashed to the ground with a loud thud, dead.

Lt. Surge and his trainers later returned to see Lyssane on her knees and crying, as Togetic fluttered beside her chanting a Heal Bell, and Nurse Joy was treating Murkrow, Natu, and Charmander.

Quote:"WAIT DON'T CRASH INTO THAT BUILDINGGGGGGGGGGGGG!"

"Oooof," Azula grunted as she and Flygon smashed through the ceiling of a house.

"Wah...wuh...who's place is this?" she wondered. "Flygon, this place seems familiar...you know?" She glanced at Flygon. However, an X-X face looked back at her- Flygon fainted. Chuckling slightly, Azula returned Flygon to his Friend Ball.

Azula looked around. God, everything seems really familiar. It was weird. Who's house was...

"Oh," Azula said when she stared at the torn Pikachu plush doll in the corner of the room. It was Red's room. Her memories flashed back to her battle with Red...

--------------------

"Flygon, Earthquake!" Azula yelled at the top of Mt. Silver. It was rather cold and snowing, but she nor Red did not notice it in the heat of the battle.

"Pikachu, dodge it!" Red hollered back. However, Flygon was much too fast. In one, quick Earthquake, Pikachu immediately fainted.

"Damn it!" Red cursed. "Go, Charizard!"

"Crap!" Azula gritted her teeth.

"Blast Burn!"

"Flygon, return...go, Porygon-Z!" Azula shouted, retrieving Flygon and sending out the already weakened Porygon-Z.

"Poryyyy!!!!" it beeped, and dramatically fell to the floor as it was obliterated by the Blast BUrn.

"Flygon, come back out!"

"What can you do now?" Red taunted. "None of his moves can really damage Charizard..."

"Gee, you weren't willing to talk earlier!" Azula retorted. "Flygon, Rock Slide!"

"Argh! Charizard, retu-" Too late. Flygon struck Charizard with its powerful Rock Slide.

Red winced. He only had one more Pokemon...

"Go, Snorlax!"

"Ha!' Azula said triumphantly. "Shedinja will wall it! Return, Flygon! Go, Shedinja!"

"..." Red glared.

"Ha! Shedinja, Will-o-wisp!"

Snorlax dodged the attack! said Red's and Azula's Pokedex cheerfully.

"Argh, how did you miss that big fat lump! Again!"

"Crunch," Red grinned.

"EH!!??!" as Shedinja fell to the super-effective dark attack.

"Damnit! Argh...Flygon, let's do this!"

"Giga Impact" Red roared.

"Outrage!" Azula said simultaneously.

"FEAROW!"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Eh?!!? I don't remember a Fear-WAH, A FEAROW!" Azula yelled, jumping back as the zombie Fearow glared menacingly at Azula.
Saffron city - Train station
Inside of the train, there are 2 Pokemon Rangers and 3 people staring at each other, no one looks happy. A woman with a clipboard points a finger in one of the rangers faces as she screams at him. OUTTA MY WAY YOU DUMBASS!! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHO YOU'RE MESSING WITH?!!
"Ma'am its for your own good, Goldenrod city is not safe right now." The ranger replies. The irate woman flings her clipboard at the Pokemon rangers head, which he barely manages to dodge. Now he was getting angry too, "Peach!"
The other Pokemon ranger holds back his friend and begins speaking. "Ok thats enough, break it up. I'm sorry about your radio show but our descion is final. If you want to complain, you will have to just call our HQ." The people leave the train grumbling under their breath.
One of the rangers turns to me and says: Sorry, didn't see you there. Maybe you can help us out. He nodded at the other ranger.
Lead Ranger: We're on a mission to escort a partial Pokerus cure to Professor Oak. A Nurse Joy developed it with the help of a captured criminal But we have recieved an emergency call for help from Fuschia city. If its not too much trouble, could you take our back up sample and Fly on ahead of us? We don't know how long we will be in Fuschia but we will get to Pallet town as soon as we can. Here, take this Pidgeotto that we use for emergencies.
Predator joined the team!
2nd ranger: Please take this letter to my daughter. She's an intern working at Bills lighthouse, thank you in advance.
Pikababe: Sure thing, I will get it there in no time! The Pokemon rangers jump on some Dodrios and head toward the exit. As I'm coming out of the train station, I barely spot the people from before running back on the train. Before I can react, they manage to get the train moving and it departs from the station.
Predator, I choose you! Pidgeotto lets me grab its legs(talons?) as it takes off into the sky..
OOC: Time for a long journey.
---
Everything happened quickly after Tropius was killed. Throughout all of Lyssane's crying, Lt. Surge and his trainers heard her mention a briefcase, which they all promptly retrieved with almost no difficulty. Seeing the briefcase and the missed opportunity to possibly save Tropius just made her cry even more. Natu was like this as well, along with Charmander and Togetic to an extent. Murkrow, however.
Natu: After everything we've been through... Why did it have to be like this?
Togetic: *sniffs*
Charmander: Ah, big guy. I never got to know you, but I can tell the others cared for you.
Murkrow: Are you guys going to cry like this all the time? Seriously, pull yourselves together! We gotta live! Tropius wouldn't want what happened to him to happen to us!
Everyone in Vermillion cheered Lyssane up as much as they could, some of the trainers even sharing their own stories of the Pokemon that they too lost to the Zombie outbreak. At some point, she had to realize that there were more pressing matters at hand. And she did.
Lt. Surge: We all saw the fight from the Lavender observatory, and ran here as fast as we could. Your Tropius became one of the strongest zombies we've ever seen. Know that you stopped him before he did something worse. Hang tough, kid.
From there, Lt. Surge and his trainers told Lyssane about her options, since leaving Kanto was definitely not an option. Ever since the Radio Tower became damaged, communication between Vermillion and Viridian, Pewter, and Cerulean was lost. Saffron and Lavender were known to be war zones, Saffron especially. Fuschia was considered a lost cause even during the beginning stages of the outbreak, to the point where Lt. Surge blurted out that, "The speed that the zombies blitzed through the town is frightening, and they probably had some help." Celadon City was also safe, but it faced frequent zombie attacks from Saffron, not to mention the additional threat from the zombies at Fuschia should they somehow find their way up the bicycle path.
Lt. Surge: And Vermillion City here? Heh, don't worry about us! We're staying here to see if there are any more survivors nearby, but we don't expect to hold Vermillion for long. When the time comes, we'll go to Celadon and regroup with Erika there, and then push through Saffron and see what we can do at Cerulean City.
Lyssane knew that Cinnabar was mostly safe despite communication being lost with them as well, although she also knew that everyone there was making plans to leave for the Sevii Islands. Pallet Town was really the safest known area among the people of Vermillion at the moment, and thus Lyssane decided that she should head back there.
Nurse Joy: BACK to Pallet? But you said that you came from Fuschia City.
Lyssane: Err... I've been to Pallet once before, before the outbreak. Yeah, that's what I meant.
Nurse Joy: Well... Okay.
Lyssane thought it best to get back to Professor Oak as soon as possible, because it was likely that the trainers Oak mentioned had returned and found something important. That wildfire was still raging in full force, with no way that Lyssane could bypass it. So, she had to go the long way. That meant cutting through Saffron City, and going through the cities that the trainers of Vermillion had lost contact with - Cerulean, Pallet, and Viridian. Then there were the already-dangerous-before-the-outbreak Mt. Moon and Viridian Forest.
Natu: We're going to have our work cut out for us. It's going to take a lot of luck for all of us to survive this trip.
Murkrow: We have more than enough luck! How do you think we managed to get here in the first place?
Charmander: We just ran?
Now, Lyssane was at the checkpoint leading into southern Saffron City. The Officer Jennys and their Squirtles and Growlithes accompanied her during this stretch of the trip, but...
Officer Jenny: We're still heading to Celadon City to help with the fire to the west. As soon as we reach the western gate, we regret to say that you'll be on your own. We're sure you'll arrive safely to Pallet Town, though.
Current Location: About to enter southern Saffron City
Pidgeottos flying ability proves to be impressive even while carrying extra weight. My destination appears in view after a fairly short trip.
Looking down at Pallet town, I don't notice much damage. Besides a few holes in some roofs and some scattered rubble, the town looks to be in pretty decent shape. Predator drops me in front of the lab and perches on the roof.
Professor Oak here, take this (handed Professor Oak the partial Pokerus cure) Nurse Joy thinks that you will be able to create an antidote for the zombie virus using this.
Sorry I can't stay, I have one more stop to make. As I'm leaving the Pallet lab I notice a trainer lying on a bed. Darn zombies!! They won't get away this! With a running start I call for Predator, who swoops down to pick me up.
As I fly over Celadon city I can see a lot of people outside the western gate. It almost looks like some kind of party. I can make out people sun bathing in swim suits and sitting in lawn chairs.
Apparently, some zombies are STILL trying to shamble up the Bicycle trail but fail over and over again. It looks like the survivors are watching the zombies efforts for amusement.
Over Cerulean city, I can see movemnt below but I am too high up to tell if they are zombies or normal people. We reach the cottage that leads to Bills lighthouse that is to the north of Cerulean city.
Predator drops me on the top level and lands on the balcony. I know that took a lot out of you, take a nice long rest. (Pidgeotto returns to his poke ball)
This place is isolated from the big cities, I can see why Bill and others would want to try and wait out the zombies here. Now I just need to deliver this letter..
NE of Cerulean city - Bills lighthouse - top balcony
Pikababe:
As I move toward the stairs that lead into the lighthouse, I notice that something is wrong. A Pikachu with pink cheeks and a red bow on it's tail is standing over a body. A blonde haired girl is laying on the steps with her face down.
???: (from outside) heh heh heh. I came here looking to ambush Bill but I just keep running into little girls..
Pikababe: (looks to the other side of the balcony) Whats going on here?! Did you do this?!!
???: I am the 1st trainer/ zombie hybrid! Thanks to Silph co. I can control zombies and have some of their powers! Unlike that incompetent Snake dummy who got himself captured, I have a full group of 6 zombies with me! More than that, even if you defeat one of my zombie pokemon, it will just regenerate in 10 minutes.
Zombie trainer: Ok peach, play time is over!
The fireworks scared the kitten! (a zombie Electrode appears out of a poke ball)
Pikababe: We'll see about that! Your lame brain zombies are no match for the real deal!
Jiggles, I choose you! (Jiggelypuff comes out of his poke ball)
Jiggles moved in close to use Pound.
Zombie Electrode used Explosion! They both fainted!
Pikabae: Jiggles, Noo! (Jiggles was recalled to his poke ball) Aphrodite, I choose you now! (Bellossom jumps out of her ball)
Zombie trainer: The fireworks scared the kitten! (another zombie Electrode appears)
Zombie Electrode used Explosion! Both pokemon faint. (Bellossom is recalled to her ball)
Zombie trainer: Don't forget, my zombies will just get back up soon. You can't win! The fireworks scared the kitten! (another zombie Electrode appeared)
Pikababe: Dammit! Euphy, I choose you! (Parasect comes out of her ball)
The Zombie Electrode spun in a circle and then used Explosion. Euphy and the zombie fainted! The balcony is becoming blackend from all of the blasts. (Parasect is returned to her poke ball)
Cheap bastard, if he wants to get cheap I can do that too. But I can't send out Predator, he's still exhausted from earlier. While thinking about what to do next, I catch the eye of the Pikachu with the fallen trainer who is watching from just inside of the lighthouse.
The Pikachu with a red bow nods and an idea comes to me. Rookie, I choose you! (Staryu jumps out of it's poke ball) For some mysterious reason, Staryu already knows what to do and readies a Surf attack.
Pikababe: When you get to hell, tell them Pikababe sent you!
Zombie trainer: I think it's about time to finish this, the fireworks scared the kitten! (yet another zombie Electrode appears out of a poke ball)
While rotating vertically in mid-air, Staryu calls up an enormous Surf attack using the water from below. The large wave rises up the side of the lighthouse and above it. Just as the water is falling back down I grab Rookie and leap toward the stairs, almost as if in slow motion.
I land roughly on the stairs behind the Pikachu and feel that I might have broken something. Back outside, the Surf crashes onto the balcony but does not reach the stairs. With thoughts of it's wounded master, the Pikachu unleashed a Thunder attack with all of it's might.
For a few seconds, the electrified water flowing over the top of the lighthouse becomes hoter than fire. The zombie trainer is instantly boiled like a cup full of noodles.
When the Surf cleared, there was nothing left of the zombie trainer or his pokemon.
The Pikachu with a red bow weeps over the form of its fallen trainer.
OOC: Man, I am so behind. I need to move a little faster.
---
Lyssane and the Officer Jennys ran through the streets of Saffron City. They surprisingly encountered little resistance towards the gate to Celadon City, mostly because the majority of the zombies they came across were staring at the fire. The few zombies that did attack were quickly pinned to the ground by Thunder Wave or confused. One of the Jennys commented on how the zombies seemed to be less organized now, compared to hours ago.
The Officer Jennys ran through the gate to Celadon City. Lyssane and her Pokemon now needed to make it to Cerulean City alone.
There was a rotten stench as the group ran past the train station. A quick peek inside showed that the bullet train had left, and there were lots of dead zombies lying around the track. Lyssane hoped that there were less zombies in Johto, for the sake of the people on that train. Close to the train station was the gate to Cerulean City. However, the ground started to shake, and an Arbok burst out of the ground in front of the gate. The Arbok had a human head within its fangs. Lyssane and her Pokemon quickly found themselves surrounded by little Ekans as well. Lyssane pulled out her Pokedex (because she didn't know what these Pokemon were, since this was her first trip to Kanto), and finally remembered that her Pokedex had a zombie detection program.
Lyssane: Ugh! This could have helped about three hours ago!
All of the Ekans launched a volley of Poison Stings. Murkrow deflected some of them with a Whirlwind, while Natu used Psychic to pull over a signpost to shield the group from the needles in the other direction. Lyssane figured that she couldn't fight them all, and just needed to blow a hole in this barrier of Ekans and quickly run into the gate. Togetic and Charmander's Flamethrowers did that quite nicely, and the group quickly ran into the gate.
Lyssane and the Pokemon shut the doors behind them. The Ekans kept trying to ram into the doors, but to no avail. Some of them burrowed underground, and they probably couldn't break through the concrete floor. But then, she realized, what happened to the Arbok?
The Arbok burst through the floor, and quickly wrapped itself around Charmander. The other three Pokemon hesitated, as they didn't know what to do without harming Charmander. Lyssane, fed up with running way from zombies all the time, did the one thing that nobody expected. She picked up her briefcase and slammed it into the Arbok's head.
The briefcase and the wall behind the Arbok turned out to be potent enough weapons to crush the Arbok's skull, and Charmander fell from the Arbok's grip, coughing.
Togetic: Sorry.
Charmander: Sorry? *cough* I could have broken free myself.
Natu: Sure you could.
Murkrow: Hey, if you're all done bickering, maybe we should be running again because it won't be long until the rest come up that hole in the ground!
Some of the Ekans did slither up through the hole that Arbok left. And the group took off running towards Cerulean City once more.
NE of Cerulean city - Bills lighthouse
I awaken in a bed staring at a roof. Looking around I can see Jiggles sleeping on my belly, another girl in a bed and a Nurse Joy.
Pikababe: What happened? Is this a pokemon center?
Nurse Joy: You finally woke up! We are at the bottom of the lighthouse. It's been days since that fight on the balcony. Zombies attacked while you were asleep but some of your pokemon appeared and bravely led them away.
Checking my team, I see that the only ones I still have left are Jiggles and Aphrodite. At that moment someone steps in the door.
Bill: Hello ladies..
OOC: I'm going to take a chance and get as much as I can done before SouthPerry possibly closes down.
---
It had been several days since Lyssane passed through Cerulean City and Mt. Moon. Cerulean City's situation was much like that of Vermillion City, except the trainers there had no plans to abandon the city. They did mention that something odd had happened at Bill's lighthouse. Something about a smart zombie human commanding zombie Pokemon. When her Pokemon heard about that, they all shivered in uncertainty and fear. Still, they couldn't stay for long, so they pressed through the caverns of Mt. Moon.
Mt. Moon was expectedly dark. Once again, Charmander's tail lit the way, but this time Lyssane remembered about the zombie detection program, and used it to avoid the majority of zombie Pokemon. They did run into a few zombies that the zombie detection program found too late, but it seemed that all of Lyssane's problems throughout this whole journey were solved by killing everything with fire. Of course, the zombies in Mt. Moon were no exception. Lyssane briefly wondered if she should become a fire-type gym leader instead.
Close to the exit, Lyssane came across what appeared to be a dead archeologist. While Charmander was anxiously rummaging through his backpack, almost sobbing (this confused the other three Pokemon), Lyssane found that he was clutching a bloody letter, and began to read through it.
To whoever finds this:
My name is Smith, one of Pewter City's archeologists. I had been exploring Mt. Moon to search for more fossils. The Museum of Pewter City has a device that could extract the DNA from fossils to recreate ancient Pokemon. Don't be surprised if you've never heard of such a thing, because after all, this device has been kept secret to all but the people closest to Professor Oak.
When the zombie outbreak reached Pewter City, we all faced a difficult situation: Revive all of the fossil Pokemon that we currently had - and risk losing these records of the ancient world to the zombies - or try to defend Pewter City without them. We initially chose the second option. Everything went well for a while, until one by one, our Pokemon started turning into zombies, even the Pokemon that had never fought a zombie. We found that contaminated potions arrived the day after the zombie outbreak had reached Pewter City. The person running the Pokemart told us that he (and his brother running the Pokemart in Fuschia City) had ordered these supplies from a supplier in Olivine City. I hope the people of Fuschia City find out about this before it's too late, but I now fear the worst had already happened since we lost all contact with the city recently. I also hope that none of the other towns and cities of Kanto and Johto ordered anything from the same supplier.
All supplies in Pewter City from before that day are still safe to use, but we still lost the majority of our Pokemon. So we had no choice but to use our fossils to recreate the ancient Pokemon.
Our troubles didn't end there. Someone broke in and stole all of the fossils on the first floor. We attempted to chase after him, but we lost him when he jumped over a twenty foot gate blocking off Pewter City from the wilderness of the Silver mountain range. We don't know how, but we now think that he had a Psychic Pokemon of some sort assisting him.
Now you know why I had to come here and search for more fossils. A few days before, my son had been reported missing, along with his boat sailing to Cinnabar Island. I still have hope that he and his Charmander are still alive, and I did not want my missing son to come back to Pewter City to find everyone dead. I was unsuccessful in finding any fossils, other than this odd piece of Old Amber. It should be in my backpack, if you are interested in taking it to Pewter City. If my observations are correct, it should contain the DNA of an Aerodactyl, a powerful Pokemon that ruled the skies of the ancient world. A valuable addition to anyone's team - and your foe's greatest nightmare.
(Here, the scribbles become incredibly hard to read. Blood obscures some parts of the last few sentences, and the few that weren't obscured made less sense. All Lyssane could undestand from it was that he was attacked by a group of mushroom insects (Paras?), got away, and something about telling his wife and son that he loved them.)
(Additionally, there was something about a warning, his body, and 'stepping away'.)
---
Then, something grabbed Lyssane's leg. She looked down to find that the archeologist wasn't dead. She was glad, until she looked closer. Yeah, he wasn't dead, all right. He was UN-dead. Lyssane screamed, and the startled Charmander whirled around and smashed the zombified archeologists' skull with his hammer. It took a few seconds for Charmander to register everything that he just did within his mind. It was Charmander's turn to break down into tears.
Lyssane and her Pokemon later made it to Pewter City safely with the Old Amber and the letter - only to find all survivors holed up within the museum, and lots and lots of zombie maggots (being Weedle and Caterpie) and flies (being their evolved forms) shuffling around the front door. At least there didn't appear to be any zombies anywhere else in the city, at least from what the zombie detection program mapped out, and from Lyssane's vantage point on the roof of the Pewter City gym.
---
Current Location: Roof of the Pewter City Gym
Current Objective: Find a way past the zombies and get into the museum. Find a way to use the old Amber to create an Aerodactyl, and then get rid of all of the critters outside if possible.
For future reference:
NE of Cerulean city - Bills lighthouse
Bill: I cannot thank you enough for protecting my lighthouse. You saved my intern and all of the research that I keep here. I have just returned from doing work in Fuchsia city and the news is dire indeed.
The town is full of ninjas so I thought it was strange that zombies would appear there. It seems that tainted potions where to blame although the shop keeper said he was sorry. On a different note, I may have found the last clue needed to create an antidote.
I must get this briefcase to professor Oak at once! You are welcomed to tag along if you like.
Pikababe: I don't have all of my pokemon but you can count me in!
Bill: Let's get going!
North of Cerulean city
Pikababe: Maybe this wasn't the greatest idea. I don't think Bill even has any pokemon with him. Hopefully we won't run into any trouble.
A Starmie leaps out of a nearby stream!
Pikababe: Son of a peach! Bill stay back, we'll handle this! Even with a Grass type on my team, this could get ugly. "Jiggely!" (Jiggelypuff shouts) What do you mean it doesn't want to fight? Then I remember that Staryu left with the others. Could Rookie have evolved and stayed near the lighthouse all along?
The crystal at Starmies core glimmers in the sun light.
Expert joined the team!
After finding Starmie we arrive in Cerulean city.
Pikababe: There aren't a lot of zombies around. A trainer said they even saw someone headed toward Mt. Moon. Now we need to decide which route to take in order to reach Pallet town.
Bill: The fastest ways would be either west through Pewter city or south through the Digletts cave.
Pikababe: I saw zombies underground.
Bill: West it is then! Especially if another trainer already went that way.
Base of Mt. Moon
Pikababe:
Uh oh, I forgot that Mt. Moon doesn't have any indoor lighting. What now?
Bill: Not to worry! I can find my way through here blindfolded. Follow me! (he enters the cave)
Pikababe: Are you serious?! Well, as long as I keep an eye on my zombie radar, we should be able to make it through alright.
As we go deeper into Mt. Moon, the light fades and eventually we are in near complete darkness. Bill walks ahead while I follow the sound of his footsteps and keep my eyes glued to the detector screen of my poke gear.
There is a shuffle and the sound of something hitting the ground.
Bill: Ouch, where did that rock come from? No problem, I'm sure that this is the right way.
(I let out a silent groan)
After wandering around in the dark for what seems like a really long time, I can feel a slight breeze once again. Occasionally, a zombie signal llights up my radar but we always run in the opposite direction.
"Jiggelypuff!"
Jiggles shouts as he notices light coming from up ahead. After tripping on and running into several more rocks, the group nears the light.
Bill: (squinting at the light) It wasn't quite how I remember it from the last time I was here. Ahh well maybe I'll do better next time..
Pikababe: (rubbing my scratched up shins) Going through there in the dark was pretty tough but Pewter city should be straight down this path!
As Lyssane stared at the zombies from the roof for what seemed like a ridicluous amount of time, her Pokemon started making plans of their own. Maybe that was why they liked her so much - she rarely ordered them to do anything.
Charmander: Guys, I think she's about to turn into a zombie.
Natu: But we haven't been wounded by any!
Murkrow: Hm... You never know...
Natu: But nothing successfully landed a hit on us lately!
Murkrow: Natu, why so serious?
Sure, Togetic was an evolved Pokemon, but that just meant that she was super powerful for something that was basically the equilavent of a 6-year-old girl. As such, she fluttered down the roof and towards the museum - until Natu tried pulling her back with Psychic. Lyssane noticed what was happening, but as she fumbled through her briefcase, Togetic's Pokeball slipped out and broke.
Natu: (still trying to pull Togetic back) No, stupid!
Murkrow: Eh, they're just a bunch of bugs. Well, there are a lot of them, but nothing Charmander's flamethrower can't burn to a crisp, right?
Charmander: My flamethrower is not the answer to everything. I've seen these bugs before. They like to SPIT stuff at us. That's a THOUSAND times worse than getting rocks thrown at us.
Togetic broke free from Natu's Psychic, and flew over the group of bugs and onto the roof of the museum. The others thought she was a goner, until they realized that the bugs didn't see her. They were too stupid to even look up. Natu then came up with an idea.
---
Lyssane: (whimpers) What... What are you all doing?
Getting lifted off several dozen feet off the ground and pushed forward at a rate of two feet per second by a psychic force was not a pleasant experience at all. Couple that with two birds and a salamander holding onto your shoulders for dear life (with the two birds desperately flapping their wings and making a general feathery mess of your hair to boot), and you had one really awkward experience.
Murkrow: She should be thanking Arceus that she's not wearing a skirt.
Charmander: Why did you guys have to do this without letting me go back in my Pokeball first?! I thought I already mentioned that I'm scared of heights!
Murkrow: Uh, no, you never mentioned that before. Besides, this was all Natu's idea.
Natu: If the bugs look up and notice us, at least you can fry them from the air!
Charmander: You guys didn't think about this, huh? What happens if you run out of energy?
Natu: Uh... Nothing will go wrong as long as nothing decides to attract their attention up here!
The group was about five feet away from reaching the museum roof until someone emerged from a nearby staircase. The guy was excited to see 'reinforcements from Viridian City'. The idiot reached out for the group, while yelling for everyone else inside the museum to come and see. Sure, the people in the museum went up to look. But the zombie bugs also looked up.
Charmander: CRAP.
And then there came the barrage of String Shots, Poison Stings, and other nasty crap thrown into the air. However, Togetic flew out and yanked Lyssane by the hair, and provided enough power to quickly force the group safely onto the roof. And hell, some of the missed String Shots fell back down and entangled some of the bugs. Unfortunately, some other string shots anchored themselves at various parts of the building - particularly the sides of the roof. And the zombies that could still move were smart enough to begin using the strings to climb up.
Lyssane proceeded to explain everything in a really fast rate, and to the Pokemon, the people at the museum replied with what sounded like gibberish in comparison. They began to wonder whether Lyssane or the museum people were more insane. They all eventually settled for the latter, because being holed up in a museum for what was probably a week would make anyone go insane.
Everything happened really fast after that. Lyssane showed them the Old Amber and the letter, a group of people took her and the Pokemon to this machine, and shoved the Old Amber into some kind of container. Lyssane and a scientist stood watch over the container while the Pokemon followed everyone else back onto the roof. The person that appeared to be the museum director yelled to everyone that the zombies have to be held off long enough for the Aerodactyl to be revived, for it was probably their only chance to survive this attack.
Now began the seige of the museum by an army of small, zombified critters.
---
Current Location: Pewter City Museum
Current Objective: Defend the museum long enough for Aerodactyl to be revived! Aerodactyl is the key to getting out of here alive! But how will Aerodactyl react upon being revived?
Mt. Moon - West exit
As soon as we begin walking downhill toward the city, our path is blocked by a group of Zombie Butterfree and Ledians.
Pikababe: And we were so close too! Jiggles, this one's all you!
With an excited "Puff!!" Jiggelypuff leaps forward and begins a Rollout attack. Even though the zombiefied bugs float above the ground, they are at the bottom of the hill and make easy targets.
Jiggles super effective attack tears through them like cheap pinatas as he ricochet's from zombie to zombie. Within minutes, the group of zombies is obliterated and their pieces litter the ground.
Pikababe: Great job Jiggles! But this is odd, normally bug types don't go outside of the Viridian forest in this area. If the zombies have made it this far then I wonder if we should just avoid Pewter city since it may have already been taken over.
After a long debate it is finally decided that we will bypass both Pewter and Viridian cities. While I woudl like to check for survivors, getting Bill to professor Oak safely has top priority. By staying off of the main roads we avoid trouble and make excellent time to Pallet town. Once we arrive at the Pallet lab Bill, professor Oak and Gym leader Blaine work together to examine what has been found so far.
Pallet town - Oaks lab
After a few hours they call everyone into the same room.
Professor Oak: The only way to solve this mystery is to go back to Silph Co. and search for more clues. It will be more dangerous than ever but I'm afraid that there is no other choice.
We have set up a temporary safe area on the Pallet beach along with a raft. The safest water route passes underneath the bicycle path and ends at Vermillion city. Once you reach Silph Co. remember that the clue that we need could be anything related to the Pokerus. Our data is too inaccurate to predict anything else. Good luck trainers.
Pikababe: I'll be waiting outside by the raft. (I follow a fenced off trail that leads all the way down to the water) This would be really easy if I still had Predator but at least I can still use Surf with Expert.
Pallet town beach - Safe zone
Pikababe: Sorry Jiggles but we will move faster if you are inside of your poke ball. (I recall Jiggelypuff and bring out Starmie facing toward the ocean)
As soon as it hits the water, Starmie turns around and faces the direction of Pallet town. Starmie starts giving off a blue glow and a large ball of water (about the size of a full bath tub) slowly rises into the air.
With a quick motion, Starmie launches the water ball like a missle toward the town. It penetrates one of the Pallet homes with the force of a boulder. (I assume that Expert did this for a good reason, so I give it the benefit of the doubt)
I'm sure that you are excited about your new psychic powers but you shouldn't show off like that.
Pallet town beach - The End of Pikababes story?
While floating in the water on my back, I begin to wonder how long it will be until Pallet town becomes unsafe.
As if on cue, hundreds if not thousands of zombies (human and poke) appear on the hills that surrond the town. Leaning up for a moment, I can see them running in an all out charge toward Pallet town. The few defences that remain will be no match for a zombie mob of this size.
Laying back down to continue floating by the raft, I think to myself: Even if the zombies manage to break through, this is still a better ending than that show on abc had. (I bob slightly as more waves pass under me.)
WTP?!!--It's not over?!?
Pikababe:
My peaceful floating is disturbed by the sound of high voltage building up nearby. It looks like Pallet wasn't as defenseless as I thought. The entire length of the fence lights up with bright, green sparks and flowing lightning streams. The loud humming causes the waves around me to vibrate.
As the zombie orgy races toward the fence, they are immediately shocked upon making contact. The chain lightning effect makes for a spectacular light show and the zombies cannot reach the town.
I'm not a scientist but I know that a barrier like this must be draining a lot of power. It would now become a battle between the number of zombies remaining vs. Pallet towns supply of electricity....
Pallet town
[Image: 1092008.png]
Pikababe:
Just as I'm preparing to depart from the beach, something dawns on me. I have to go find professor Oak! Expert return now! (Starmie goes into its poke ball) As the glow from the electric fence starts to dim, I run back to the lab as quickly as my legs will carry me.
Inside of the lab, the lights are out but I can still see who is here because of the daylight. All of the lab assistants are running on treadmills while professor Oak furiously types on the last working computer. It looks like their jogging is the only thing keeping the fence operational.
Pikababe: Professor! The last piece of the antidote! Its here, I have it here!
Professor Oak: Poor girl, those zombies must have eaten your brains good. (he looks at me with pity)
Pikababe: I forgot about the snake man from the boat! He worked for Silph, here I took these from his pocket! (handed professor Oak the plastic cards from the Snake trainer)
Professor Oak: You said these belonged to a former Silph Co. employee? (He walked in front of a window with a thoughtful look on his face. 1 of the 3 lab assistants faints from exhaustion. I jump on the treadmill and take his place.) Professor Oak moved the other collected items into the light so he could see what he was doing.
Pikababe: The fence is weakening, we aren't creating enough power!
Professor Oak: It is completed!! And not a moment too soon. He fills a glass bottle with some liquid out of a large beaker. This should reverse the effects of the mutated Pokerus and return its victims to normal. (As he says this, zombies begin scratching on the walls of the lab.) The professor starts opening up the windows.
Pikababe: Professor!! (Professor Oak slams the bottle on the floor and the liquid splatters. A strong scent of Pineapple fills the room)
HAVE YOU GONE MAD?!!! I scream in horror.
Professor Oak: You all can stop running now. Anyone who smells this will be instantly cured.
The assistants and myself collapse to the ground gasping for air. The zombies outside have stopped.. Pallet town is saved!
---
(Some time later)
Professor...
Professor Elm, wake up, it's urgent..
Professor Elm: (throws an empty beer bottle at a wall) Dammit! I told you never to wake me up!
Female lab assistant: Yes sir but the feed from Pallet town has gone dead.
Professor Elm: Who cares, let Oak handle the zombies. Everyone knows that he is the better professor. (he rubs at his 5 o’clock shadow)
Female lab assistant: Yes but we haven't heard any news since they completed the zombie radar program.
Still half way asleep, Elm plumps down in front of a computer and enters his secret, professor password. After quickly reading through several screens on a secure professors only network he curses loudly.
Professor Elm: Gather whatever trainers you can find while I get my pants..
Assistant: Wait professor Elm, it's a miracle! We are getting a weak transmission from Pallet town! They are still alive and have found a cure!
Professor Elm: Oak, that son of a peach. Now he will get all of the credit. But wait a minute; we have no way of getting a copy of that antidote! They may be fine in Pallet but all of the rest of us are doomed! Send out an SOS, maybe someone will be able to reach us before it is too late..
New Bark Town
Professor Elm: The zombies have broken through the south end! It seems hopeless... (Just as he is ready to give up, he sees a starfish speeding through the water to the east of town.) Now what?
Starmie jumps into the air as a woman back flips off of its back into the water. The Starmie spins horizontally like a buzz saw and slices the surronding zombies to ribbons. It then flys back to the woman and they both land on New Bark soil.
???: Professor Elm? Professor Oak sent me to get this Pineapple ball(cure ball) to the Lake of Rage.We are going to use the water to spread the anitidote faster. Any trainers that you can spare would be helpful.
Professor Elm: No, theres hardly anyone here. Why don't you just Fly it there?
???: We already tried that. The Pallet lab assistant who volunteered to go reported that the sky was swarming with flying zombies. He didn't even make it past Viridian city.
New Bark town - Elm's Lab
Professor Elm: I am glad that you came here but as I said before, nearly all of the trainers here are exhausted from fighting. I doubt that anyone would dare oppose the zombies right now. I think that professor Oak is a jerk but if he found a cure than we should sit back and wait for it to work. Theres no need to take on such a dangerous mission, miss?
Pikababe: (I had been staring out of a window. New bark town had been largely spared from the zombie attacks up to this point because of its remote location.)
You can call me Pika. Just because there is a cure doesn't mean that the zombies will stop killing people. This Pineapple ball prevents zombiefication to any person or pokemon within a mile of it but there is a downside to holding one.
In testing, we found that the zombies became super aggressive when they figured out that they could not change a person into a zombie. They simply try to gnaw the ball holder to death instead. Even if we did nothing there would still be people out there who need help. Thanks for the rest. If I am successful than things should return to normal.
As I depart from New Bark town, I recall Starmie and let out Jigglypuff.
My current pokemon:
 Spoiler
West of New Bark town
Creeping through the tall grass, I think how ironic it is that new trainers usually start around here yet, it is extremely dangerous at the moment. I count at least 10 humanoid zombies walking around. As long as I stay out of their line of vision they are easy to avoid.
Bumping into something I stop: "Excuse me"
Zombie Sentret appeared!
Jiggles immediiately used Pound. The Sentret staggered but did not fall, it used moldy breath attack!
Jiggles felt sick and his fighting power dropped!
Pikababe: We can't let this drag out. Jiggles, use Hyper Voice now! The sound attack sent the Sentret flying but it also alerted the other zombies to our presence. They suffered no damage because they were so far away.
Whoopsies, I guess we are going to have to run for it. The run is short as we were nearly to the town anyway. Not taking time to take a good look around, I only search for the pokemon center. Brainless or not, it won't take the zombies long to figure out which way we fled.
I spot Cherrygrove cities Pokemon center and run to its doors. I can see the lights on inside but the door is locked. I hold my Pokegear up to the glass and scream that I am a trainer and not a zombie. I can see the zombies from the field getting close to the town.
A voice from a speaker asks: Who is professor Oaks daughter?
I reply that he has none. (The center doors slide open and we are allowed inside.)
Cherrygrove city
Nurse Joy: Sorry about that, I had to make sure that you were not one of them. You are the 1st trainer that I have seen around here in a long time. Pretty much everyday I see zombies walking past my front doors. Please, if you aren't in a hurry could you do me a favor?
Pikababe: What kind of favor?Hurt
Nurse Joy: There were 2 kindergarden kids here with me but they snuck out to play with a walkie talkie. When the zombies took over, the kids were still missing and I feared the worst. Then I heard crying on this walkie talkie and was able to figure out that they are hiding somewhere in Cherrygrove city. I have managed to narrow down their location to 3 buildings but I can't go get them myself.
Pikababe: Ok, I'll go look for them.
(Outside the pokemon center I begin looking for the buildings that Nurse Joy indicated.)
Pikababe: She said it had to be the one to the east, west or to the south of the pokemon center. Thats gives us a 30% chance! (Jiggles makes a worried face) Let's see, the west building is the closest, so lets start there. (The door is off of its hinges and the lights are barely on.)
Hello? Kids?! I'm here to take you back to Nurse Joy!! (there is no response)
Jiggles steps on something sticky and lets out a shout. "Jigggg!" A zombie Ariados appears!
Jiggles, use Pound! But it is too late. The zombie Ariados continuously fires Spider webs which we get caught in. Jiggles gets stuck to the floor and I get webbing across my mid section. Clearly, this is the wrong place.
"Shoot!" It only goes from bad to worst. 3 zombie spinaracks join the battle. The zombies begin shooting Poison Stings at Jiggelypuff, who is unable to dodge. I struggle to reach my poke kiwis but the webbing restricts my movement . I think to myself that this probably looks like a scene out of some stupid bondage fantasy. With great effort, I manage to release Starmie from his poke ball. Jiggles faints from the attacks.
Jiggles, Nooo!! Expert, use Psychic, Pineapple up these peaches! Starmie rushes forward and begins blasting the zombie spiders with Psychic. The bugs splatter and squeal but something doesn't seem right. For every 2 zombies that Starmie defeats, 4 more take their place. It looks like we stumbled onto some sort of zombie hideout.
In small numbers, it's no contest. Starmies attacks decimate the posionous zombie bugs. But as more and more Spinarack and Ariados appear, Starmie begins to get worn out. After a hard fought battle, Starmie falls.
Pikababe: Dam! (Pikababe Whited out!)
Pikababe wound up at the Cherrygrove Pokemon center..
Cherrygrove city - Pokemon center
Pikababe: Urgh, we lost. Thank Lugia I had a cure ball with me, otherwise we would have been turned into zombies just like those pokemon. Don't worry Nurse Joy, after we rest up I will take my team back out to look for the kids.
I lay down on the bed..
After a nice long rest, I proceed to check the other buildings for the missing children. I guess that we should try our luck with the eastern one but this time I whip out my zombie detector before going in. Its range is a lot smaller now, since I'm carrying a cure ball but if I go right up the walls, I should be able to tell if there are any unfriendlies inside.
After circling the building, I pick up a few faint zombie signals inside.
Pikababe: The kids could be in here but its not very likely with all of the zombies in there. I decide that we shouldn't fight if we don't have to and that we should leave the eastern building for now. Jiggles lets out a sigh of relief.
Cherrygrove city
Pikababe: Alright, we have eliminated the buildings to the east and west of the pokemon center. That means the kids have to be in the southern one. (moving closer to the south building, I can see a single zombie standing in front of the door)
Jiggles, use Sing and we will sneak in and grab the kids. Jiggles steps forward and begins to sing at the zombie. It didn't work.
The zombie looks annoyed and starts moving toward Jiggelypuff.
Quck, try it again! Jiggles uses Sing once more and the zombie falls to the ground fast asleep. Great! We'll be in and out before it wakes up!
Cherrygrove city - south
I enter the building and leave Jiggles to guard the exit. I'm not picking up any zombie signals inside so if I can find the kids, I should be able to lead them out safely. It looks like it used to be a nice home. Broken furniture and glass are scattered all over the floor; I wonder if someone tried to fight off the zombies in here.
I hear a scream from a side room. I double check my radar to make sure that it still shows all clear and rush to the room where I heard the noise. Looking into the bedroom, I find the 2 boys hiding in the top part of a bunk bed.
Pikababe: Come on down, this is no place to be playing games. I'll take you back to Nurse Joy.
With the kids close behind, I head back to the exit of the house. Jiggles is waiting at the door but something starts moaning nearby.
The sleeping zombie awakens! And it looks pissed..
Cherrygrove city - south
The children begin crying. I move in front of them as Jiggles runs at the zombie. The humanoid zombie pulls a bone out of its body and uses Bone club on Jiggles.
Jiggles is knocked into a wall but inhales some air to cushion the impact. With a defiant "PUFF!" he springs off of the wall and tries Pound attack but is swatted away by the zombies bone. The zombie uses Bone club again but misses! Jiggles rolls under the zombie, jumps up and then uses Pound on the back of the zombes head!
The zombie head disintegrates into a pile of dust. The headless body starts walking around randomly still holding its bone weapon. Before anymore zombies can show up, we run back to the pokemon center. I yell into the centers speaker:
Pikababe: Nurse Joy, we're back! And the kids are ok!
The doors open as the group enters and close once everyone is inside.
Nurse Joy: Thank goodness!
Cherrygrove city - Pokemon center
Nurse Joy: I'm so relieved that you are back! (she hugs the kids) Thank you very much! You should know that there is a small waterway that is not marked on the maps that you can use to get to Violet city if you have the ability to Surf.
Pikababe: A stream? Thats great!
Nurse Joy: It flows around the back of the pokemon center. Thanks again!
Walking outside, I can see the waterway that Nurse Joy mentioned.
Pikababe: Expert, I choose you!! (Starmie jumps into the water) In a piggyback fashion, we ride up the stream towards Violet city. The zombies patrolling the ground route don't have a clue! Whenever they get too close, Starmie swims lower in the water. In no time at all we arrive at the south side of Violet city.
All is not well however, as there are destroyed cars and debris on the ground. It looks like some kind of battle is going on here and thick, black smoke is pouring out of the sprout tower. There are a couple of school buses and nature park vehicles blocking off part of the town.
Violet city
It had gotten dark out and explosions could be heard in the distance. I duck down low in the water just enough so I can still see whats going on. A Pokemon Ranger runs into view shouting very loudly.
Lead Ranger: Dam zombies!! Get that electric team out here right now!! NOW DAMMIT!!
There are a lot of pokemon trainers around and 3 run out of the crowd and stand next to the ranger.
The first one throws out 6 poke kiwis and releases 4 Pikachus and 2 Ampharos's. The 2nd trainer calls out an Onix and a Cradilly. The 3rd trainer throws down 4 poke kiwis; a Jolteon, 2 Electrikes and a Magnazone spring onto the ground.
A swarm of flying zombies swoops down on the city. The swarm includes zombie Golbat, Fearrow, Hoot hoots and several others. The Electric pokemon light up the sky with shock attacks as the Rock types begin throwing boulders and rocks into the sky. If the zombies were not trying to kill everyone, this would be better than the 4th of July!
What is the fate of the remaining pokemon trainers? How will the battle in Violet city end?!!
[Image: 38-04.png]
To be continued...
(OOC: Directors cut, I think page 5 reads much better now)
Violet city
The skirmish continues through out the night and eventually the flying zombies are eliminated. But as the sun begins to rise, additional zombies start to burst out of the ground and forest. The weary trainers had fought valiantly but the town was moments from being over-run.
Lead Ranger: "Retreat to the school bus's!! We can't hold them any longer!! My rangers will walk you out of the hot zone and jump on the last jeep that we have!!" Most of the townsfolk had already gotten in one of the 3 yellow vehicles and the trainers piled in as best they could. I ended up on the 3rd bus in the line, right ahead of the jeep.
As the convoy frantically pulls out of Violet city, the Sprout tower falls over and bursts into flames. The zombies shuffle around the center of town as smoke rises from the burning buildings.
West of Violet city - Johto
Pikababe:
I fight my way through a crowd of pokemon trainers and civilians to get to the front of the bus. I need to contact whoever is in charge and convince them to head north and go to the Lake of Rage. "Driver, do you have a radio or anything that I can use?!"
To the left of the bus line, the park jeep speeds past with 3 Pokemon rangers in it. The bus driver nods yes and points to a radio handset. Jiggles puffs up to keep people from bumping into me. Just as I'm turning it on to speak, a voice filled with panic yells out over the radio. "INCOMING ZOMBIES!!"
The driver bluntly states: "I'm getting tired of this Bull crap."
2 pairs of zombie Hoppips and Skiplooms fly by the windows toward the rear of the convoy. They begin turning around for another pass...
West of Violet city
Clutching the radio, I try to speak as calmly as possible, "Can anyone hear me?! Please listen, we need to go north to the Lake of Rage. I have something that might be able to defeat the zombies for good!!"
A voice replies: "North?! Alright then, just so long as we get out of this forest quick. Those Hoppip..." the transmission cuts out.
The zombie Skiploom/ Hoppip open fire with Rotten Bullet seed attack and strafe the line of vehicles. Just like biplanes using machine guns, they swoop in and spit seeds that rip into the 3rd bus and shatter the windows. Jagged shards of glass are sent flying inside, the driver survives but many of the passengers are badly injured. The zombies begin attacking the 2nd bus from behind...
The 2nd school bus is hit hard, the zombies aim is improving with each attack. As they fly forward, they are met by a blast of Flamethrower. One of the Pokemon rangers riding in the jeep has found a Cyndaquil and is doing his best to hold off the zombies. Zombie Hoppip and Skiploom have the advantage however, as the trees give them plenty of cover.
The zombies begin filling the 1st bus in the line full of holes by using seed attacks. To everyones surprise, a trainer calls out a Wobbuffet and it sticks its head out of a broken window. Rotten bullet seed attack is reflected back at one of the zombie Hoppips and it drops out of the sky! A well placed Flamethrower incinerates the other zombie Hoppip. "Cyndaquil, great job!" the ranger cheers.
Now only the 2 zombie Skiplooms remain..
"All vehicles turn right at the next intersection! We're going north!" A voice calls over the radio. The zombie Skiplooms turn around and strafe the convoy from the front. The jeep tries to pursue them but they manage to attack all 3 buses without taking any damage. Windshields are shattered and metal is punctured, the school buses won't be able to survive much more of this. As the group reaches the intersection that leads to Ecruteak city, all of the vehicles turn right except for 1. The 2nd bus in the line continues going straight west for some unknown reason.
"I repeat, all vehicles break right!!" A voice urgently calls over the radio. Listening within the 3rd bus I hear a different speaker reply: "It's no good, I can't stay with you. I've just lost my engine and rear tires. Go on without us, we will distract the zombies!!" The 2nd bus can be seen rolling into the woods near the National park as the Skiplooms fly after it. If the trainers can bail out of the bus in time then they should be able to fight back. Several minutes of driving pass before an explosion can be heard in the distance...
Ecruteak city
After a bumpy ride over a dirt trail in the forest, the convoy pulls into Ecruteak city. The town looks awful but at least it is deserted for the moment. The vehicles come to a stop near the center of town.
"We have to go back for the others, we can't just leave them out there! Even if what she says about the Lake of Rage turns out to be true." The trainer waves his arms around as he speaks.
One of the Pokemon rangers surveys the crowd and the heavily damaged school buses. He closes his eyes and after a few minutes begins to speak.
Pokemon Ranger: "I don't like splitting up but it can't be helped. Some of us will stay here to secure this town while the rest can take 1 of the buses and look for survivors." He walks up to me and Jiggles. "Sorry we couldn't get you all the way to the lake but I know something that might be able to make up for it. There is a trail that runs along Mt. Mortar that should be just wide enough to hold a small vehicle."
"Take the park jeep, the sooner the zombies are stopped the better." He gives a confident nod and runs off.
Pikababe: "Alright Jiggles, lets get this show on the road!"
The Pokemon ranger had forgot to mention just how rugged this mountain trail actually was. The jeep was able to handle most of the hills without too much trouble but 3 times already we all almost ended up slipping off of the mountain. Jiggles alternated between sitting on the hood and in the back seat. To the left was a steep incline and to the right was a straight drop down into water.
The zombies seem to be pretty terrible climbers, I hardly notice any except for a few that tumble down the mountain occasionally. After coming around a corner, Jiggles tells me that he can see someone. On the other side of a canyon, there appears to be a figure standing over a tombstone. "Jiggly?" Jiggles asks me.
"No, we aren't stopping. Thats probably just another zombie." The winding and dusty trail continues a bit further in the direction of Mahogany town...
North of Mahogany town
The mountain path ends just outside of the town. But having seen some of the other cities in Johto, I dare not stop to rest there. Turning left, I head toward the Lake of Rage. The park jeep will be out of fuel soon but we make quick progress driving over the grass. I drive by a trainer with silver hair who does not appear to be zombiefied. It looked like he was headed to Mahagony town, I hope he prepared for trouble..
Most of the route is covered in tall grass, as I approach, I accelerate to top speed. The jeep charges through the plants with only a small loss of momentum. Every so often we run over something but I assume that they are zombies, since wild pokemon would easily be able to avoid the loud vehicle. The jeep has served us well but it finally runs out of gas. The lake of rage shouldn't be too much further. We leave the jeep in the tall grass and begin the trek north.
Pikababe:
The lake is in sight, it will only be a few more minutes before my long journey is over.
???: "I'm afraid that we cannot let you proceed any further..." A shady character holding a poke ball steps out from behind a tree. 2 others appear on either side of the one that spoke.
"You see, our zombie efforts will become very difficult if you throw that special poke ball into the lake. Little peach, this is the end for you. " The zombie trainers laugh maniacally. Just before I call out a pokemon, a Pidgeot crash lands on the ground behind me.
It was carrying a person who appears to be hurt pretty badly. As he trys to speak, I kneel down and grip his outstretched hand. Jiggles closely watches the zombie trainers who block the way to the lake.
Falkner: (with blood dripping out of the corner of his mouth) "Good, I'm not too late. (coughs) Many gym leaders perished while trying to capture this pokemon. The zombie army was after the same one! It was terrible. (he winces and takes a deep breath) I had wanted to use it myself but I was attacked on the way here. Please take this, I am too weak to battle now. (coughs)
Zombie army?! What is he talking about?!! Against these trainers I can use all the help that I can get, so I accept his poke ball, whatever it may be..
Pidgeot staggers to its feet and drags the gym leader onto its back. With visible effort, it struggles to Fly away and just barely manages to clear the trees.
Zombie trainer #1: "That was touching, I think I'm gonna cry!! The Pikachu pushed the old man down the stairs!"
Zombie trainer #2: "The Meowth swiped candy from a baby!"
Zombie trainer #3: "The fighter clubbed the baby seal!"
A zombie Pikachu, Kangaskan and Primeape appear. All of them with an strange gray coloring.
Zombie trainer #1: "Hurry up and call out your pathetic pokemon so we can get this over with! After we finish with them, it will be your turn next."
I had forgotten that I only have 2 of my pokemon with me! Hopefully Falkners heroic efforts will not be in vain. Now I have to trust in the heart of the Pokemon. Please, let this be something that can help us win...
"Pokeball, GO!"
(Insert egyptian god card music or if you prefer, the summoned esper bgm from Final fantasy XII)
The sky grows dark and storm clouds gather overhead. Tiny lightining bolts scatter from the pokeball as Zapdos materializes!
The zombies stare in amazement and awe as the electric bird begins powering up. The wind blows as if a hurricane had appeared, uprooting trees and scattering rocks. I recall Jiggles to his pokeball.
Thunderbolts rain down from the clouds and shock 2 of the zombie trainers! They are vaporized into piles of ash where they stand. The last zombie trainer grabs a handful of dirt and flings it into Zapdos's face! He starts shouting: "I'm not scared of you, you stupid turkey! My zombie powers make you look like an idiot!" Zapdos becomes enraged!
Flying over the zombie pokemon, Zapdos dives straight at the trainer and starts Drill pecking at him as if he were a bug type. On the last peck, the twirling force of Zapdos's attack causes the zombie trainers body to quickly rotate in a comical fashion as it is sent flying into the air. Even though the zombie is spinning and flying very fast he is blasted with Thunder attacks repeatedly before hitting the ground. Zapdos only glares at the zombie pokemon, who freeze in their tracks.
Pikababe: "Zapdos, excellent work! Now its my turn!" I run toward the lake and past the pokemon. "Pineapple ball, go!" The shiny cure ball drops into the Lake of rage with a splash.
"It will only be a matter of time before the antidote spreads. We have done it, the outbreak is over..." (the 3 zombie pokemon have already reverted back to their original forms)
