Alien Swarm
#1
Valve is releasing it today (but lolvalvetime), for FREE, with a new and improved sourceSDK that allows live editing. It's basically diablo II with guns and with aliens. Looks amazing.

The computer isn't what crashes, the game does. After the loading bar is done, the game just closes of its own accord.

Tried offline practice but I had no clue what I was doing. Feels bad to have everyone around me die while I just stared at the moving numbers. Anyone want to help me out here? Or link to a newbie guide or something?

Edit: Figured it out my second time but it was too late, everyone was out of ammo.

Seconding this. During offline practice, it just shows you how to move and it's clearly not interested in holding your hand other than when you head to a door- 1 to weld, or "e" for only the technician; and other than that- it just showed you how to manually reload and change weapons. Not exactly a great tutorial, if you ask me. When I was playing online, I felt really clueless half the time.

This game seems really unpolished, also. It has no intro movie or no Valve intro screen and the beginning menu is extremely basic.

I guess it is because it was a mod before?

Is anyone else lagging while playing o.0 I lagged in the Offline mode. I dont even dare try to online mode since it seems likely to be worse.

ValvE games are actually really generally unpolished compared to other games. Look at TF2 and L4D compared to, say, CoD.
Lousy tutorial, but I got the hang of it.

Probably has something to do with Vista.

It's pretty simple, W A S D to move. Left click to shoot and right click to shoot grenade. The reason it has no intro is because it isn't made by Valve, unlike HL or L4D, it's made by Black Cat Games. This is actually a simplified remake of Alien Swarm 2K4. Anywho, all DLC will most likely be user-based mods. There are console commands and mods like this to make it a 1st person shooter.

There's even a Deathmatch mod that's about to be released =]
