Prep for Big Bang in GMS
#21

I doubt World Tour/Masteria/Singapore will be changed.

If worst comes to worst, they can always remove the World Tour areas like kMS did, especially if Nexon is anxious to get this update released to us.

Edit: I'm not saying I condone this, but knowing Nexon they will most likely take the lazy way out.

If that's the case, everything there will be doing like 1 damage, anego's slap and stuff will be doing under 2k, and nothing will be able to come close to matching the exp gained from things like anego, royal guard, bigfoot, grandpa, etc.

I can only think of three possibilities in gMS:

1. All non-kMS areas completely removed.
2. No big bang update at all.
3. Tons and tons of glitches and ways to abuse non-kMS areas.

I have no confidence at all in Nexon to be able to properly modify non-kMS areas to fit the new formulas, map changes, monster changes, drop changes, quest changes, etc.

Already beat you to it :U
Honestly, Pages aren't that bad, if you ignore getting kicked from parties because you never use Rage, rofl.

They have to be. Otherwise, enjoy mobs with no HP that do 5 damage to you. The stats are all wrong.

oops ninja'd

Anyway, I want them to remove World Tour altogether, but at this point I feel like we're too far in.

Can nexon send their ideas/concepts to kms developers and have them modified for the big
bang patch or is gms solely responsible on what to change?

I'm sure kms would give the other versions some assistance in redesigning their exclusive areas.

Not much the player base can do to prepare until we get the potential system.

and @ the whole World Tour/Version Exclusive area debate; I heard GMS designed the concept of CWKPQ, and sent it in to KMS for coding? Probably just a rumor, but that could be easily done to redesign areas, I doubt Nexon America, Japan, Msea, etc etc would be so willing to throw away those areas however, and would be held back for other versions to have WT mobs readjusted, especially since they're a huge part of MapleStory now for the versions that have them.

Here's hoping Nexon forgets about it to make them the godliest training spots ever, though ^_^

I think that training at higher levels will become much easier since there are going to be a lot more higher level training spots. Training at lower levels HAS to be easier - they reduced the EXP rates and everything on Victoria is now at a level that most people can kill.

I'm going to make a bandit as soon as the update hits, but besides that, I'm not really going to do anything special to prepare.

When the potential system comes to GMS, do you think MoN's will be able to be scrolled with Potentials & enhancements? Since they have no slots, does it count anyway?

I dare to not agree.

If we are getting Dual Blade and Chaos Bosses this patch, it's not like there's alot of content coming before Big Bang(assuming we don't get lolmasteria update or world tour stuff)

We will get Big Bang inside this year. I am 100% sure.

You do realize how much content has to be changed and translated, not to mention the version-specific stuff that KMS does not have all needs to be changed, right? That's definitely going to take a long time. I wouldn't be surprised to see this Big Bang patch to not hit any version outside of Korea until at least this time next year.

I'd say that Nexon is going to wait for a "break" of some sort, and the nearest one is winter break. So I'd guess that we're getting it in a month that snows.

Ah, but KMS knows that their content will eventually be exported to GMS, so they may have coded the changes with that in-mind in order to facilitate a transfer.

I wouldn't hold my breath. Seriously, don't expect it to be quick. Though other things, like Dual Blade and the Chaos bosses, are being ported into GMS very quickly, those are only minor changes compared to what an entire game changing patch is.

So what are we getting for the next year then? Gachapon updates and cash shop items???

You're not a programmer/software engineer who worked on the code, so you don't know how fast it is. I understand how someone from our viewpoint - almost entirely ignorant end users - can logically conclude that it would take a long time, and I want to warn you against making such assumptions. Both Nexon American and the Korea-based Nexon make money off of content transfers, and after some five years I would think that they would come up with a way to stream line it. As you have seen lately, they've become efficient at it - we got arans/evans earlier than we expected, and dual blade a lot earlier.

Okay, okay, I have no idea what I'm talking about, obviously.

Keep hoping for that Big Bang patch to come next patch and the next and the next and the next and the next, but don't say I didn't warn you. Things just don't magically appear.

You don't know what actually happens during the import of content, so as far as you're concerned, they do appear magically from time to time. Stop pretending as if you have some special insight - the patches will come when they come, and all the random predictions we make based on what we believe to be accurate evidence won't change when they arrive.
