Currently Airing Anime

I swear, interpreting and speculating about the ending of Angel Beats may as well been more entertaining than the series itself. I've seen some pretty wonky theories about what actually happened; including time moving circularly, a theory about Otonashi becoming the programmer or programmer 2.0, and so forth.

Actually, remind me again, but did Otonashi lose his memories at the moment he died; or when he was in the process of going to/in to heaven/limbo? I've seen one timeline that explained it that after Otonashi died, he went to limbo/heaven; then Kanade receives his heart, is able to live longer, and then finally dies. Then in terms of the Afterlife, Kanade arrived first; and then eventually, her regrets were able to drag him out of limbo/heaven; and then in the process of going to the Afterlife, he lost his memory.

Also, enjoy these while we're at it.

Some thoughts

First half of the show... I don't wanna say it looked QUALITY, but it didn't look very good. And then there was Shizzy with "AND MY AXE!" and it made me so happy. I'm gonna miss that polka fight music. And then motorcycle cop guy OUT OF NOWHERE followed later by Simon OUT OF NOWHERE. And then awesome Celty fanservice OUT OF NOWHERE. There will be a breast expansion gif of that on 4chan, calling it now. There will also be an OVA or another season of this. Overall... it was an ending. They had that chat they could have had 5 episodes ago to prevent all their personal drama and give us a boring show. Things are concludedish. No big complaints content-wise. It felt a bit abrupt, but again, expecting more content to come. Or I could just read the source material.... nah.

Durarara 24: Expect a second season, man. These were only the first three novels. Baccano did 5 novels in thirteen episodes. With the way things ended in that its left open for a new adventure and given how popular its been with Japanese viewers, I expect to see a second season. The anime introduced several minor characters who play a big role later in the story; it's not just that we didn't get to learn about some characters such as Simon and Dennis. For an example, in this last episode, Izaya mentions the Awakusu-kai when he gets the gun; and we've heard about them before in the episode with the reporter. Gonna avoid spoiling a more. Also, let's not forget we haven't heard the last of Nebula and Izaya.

Also, I did a marathon of Baccano recently; and Nebula was mentioned in episode 2 with something about the construction of the Flying Pussyfoot. Watching that again so I can pull something more specific. One more thing: where can I find Crazy Eyes plantain Cheney in the commentary? I've heard that in the DVD Commentaries, they gave the old guys with Szilard names; and apparently, one of them looked like plantain Cheney with crazy eyes.

Anyone know if "Eden of the East: Paradise Lost" has been subbed yet?

Angel Beats! 13:
I want more epilogues.

I did again this season what I'm prone to doing. Just stopped watching several shows. Not out of dislike, I rather liked them for the most part. I just stopped. Arakawa and Senkou no Night Raid in particular. I've got 3 or 4 unwatched episodes of each, I've watched 3 or 4 of each. I keep downloading new episodes on occasion... And then I don't watch the. XP And I never even got around to watching any House of Five Leaves, which I'd wanted to do. And I've got all the time in the world.

I'm prone to this too. I am 3-5 episodes behind on Giant Killing, Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou, and Mayoi Neko Overrun. I usually just end up catching up all at once near the end of the season.

Well...

Evangelion 2.22: I caved. And it was awesome. Though some of the transformations were spoiled for me, mostly by the toys. Speaking of which...

The good thing about getting into Eva around 2.22 is that although I want the Revoltechs, I know they're redoing them for each movie (hell, they're making more than one version per Unit per movie). So I just wait till 4.44 and I'm set. Mari's figma is tempting though... I think I'll wait for Rei's, since she should come out at a time when I can afford her, and as long as she comes with the Entry Plug interior like Mari, I'll be happy.

Bakemonogatari 15: Awkward and corny in many parts; I think they said a lot of things best left unsaid. Terrific series nonetheless. The cat's a lot nicer than I thought. Still waiting for them to show a full version of his vampire encounter.

I only knew about it because some people were talking about something special about Shinobu while I was looking for information on the episode. It's an interesting tidbit but I don't see any reason for it.

K-ON 13: Mindpineapple episode. What actually happened?! I can't imagine what would happen to the club after they graduate.

Ookami-san 1: Kuroko making fun of small breasts? I don't like it so far. Many aspects seem forced, the epitome being the cat gloves and the cat faces after her punches.

Arakawa Under the Bridge 13: Shouldn't the mascot of Kappaland be a kappa? I liked the 3D theater the best. They never followed up on that episode when Nino put on a dress, did they?

Arakawa 13: Great series. Not enough Stella. Can't wait for season two. lolSHAFT.

Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakamatachi 01: But... there's eight of them... I think the narration by Kuroko is a turn off.　Ryoushi is a bit annoying. I just rather dislike his seiyuu though. Gotta love Itou Kanae and Itou　Shizuka though.　@ the ending, what the pineapple did I just watch.

Could have been me with the Cat Sh'it One trailer. I've been looking forward to this show for a year now.

The girst with the long braid in those Durarara sketches reminds me of Mari Makinami.

Angel Beats: Good show. Was not expecting to enjoy a Key show. Ending was a downer until the credits rolled. Hurr, let's just leave Otonashi there all by himself. Saaaad. Gaping plotholes and forced I LOOOOVE YOU THIIIIIIS MUCH right at the end, I liked it. Kanade damn well deserves her own action-packed show.

Shinobu is the most criminally under-featured and under-explained character in any show I've seen. I'd love to see a prequel explaining the whole Spring Break vampire fiasco.

FMA:B 63
I really do wish I could remember the end of the first anime better. I was quite satisfied with this, but I want to compare :< Hohenheim, your facial hair will not soon be forgotten. Not sure what the hell they're going to spend another episode on, but I expect to see some Winry after all this time.

Angel Beats 13:
I don't know if I'm the only one who noticed this, maybe just because it's a Key anime, but the series played out like an actual adaptation of a visual novel. Even the pacing felt like they were cutting through the other routes as side stories and giving you the "true ending" for last.

At first Otonashi was introduced to Yuri, but later triggered more events with Kanade. Because he stood with her route, they went for the "save everyone by erasure" method, but I could see the story taking the opposite twist if he ended up with Yuri's story. Perhaps they'd take that deal to become god at the end, and watch over the world together, making afterlife a paradise for those who still bore regrets after death.

It'd be interesting if a visual novel was actually made for this, with other possible endings.

All in all, I would have rather seen the epilogues of other characters as well.

Ookami 1 - This show is dumb

Kanade damn well deserves her own action-packed show.

I know, right? After watching that episode, I went and downloaded a Tachibana Kanade wallpaper for my laptop. :p

Shinobu is the most criminally under-featured and under-explained character in any show I've seen. I'd love to see a prequel explaining the whole Spring Break vampire fiasco.

Yeah...was hoping they'd put Koyomi Vamp in the anime...oh well...

Ookami-san 1: I thought this anime was hilarious and the fact that the heroine acts exactly the same as taiga makes me want moar of this show to come out faster. T.T I did think that the narration was pretty fast paced and having narration on top of character dialogue makes things a tad confusing at times, but that also means we learn a lot more about the characters faster.

FMA:B 1-30: So I'm watching this while reading the manga, 5 volumes at a time at this point. Episode 30 = Volume 15, so I'm just going to post this while I'm at somewhere near the halfway point for both.

It's really good. I found myself looking at different windows while just listening to it some of the time (and I don't understand Japanese), but that was more to me already knowing what was going to the manga than anything else (and especially so for episode 27, since it was mostly recap and I only listened to that). Now that I've gotten to new material (I watched to ep 24 before, then stopped for a long time and just now started it this way), I've done it less often.

Very interested in what's up ahead. My goal is finishing on/by the 5th, but I don't know if I'll make it. Just want to be done around the final episode, which I really screwed up by starting it only a few days ago and then not making much progress the past few days... At this rate, the 6th or 7th is more likely.

I need to give this a proper rewatch when I end up with the DVDs. Especially episode 27, since I only really saw the opening and the ending. Sure seemed "CONGRATULATIONS" at the end there...

You know that this show's going to show every route from the game it's based on, right? It's going to just restart every few episodes to show a new route.
